OMG!! Kim Jongwan!! So beautiful, I love Nell's songs so much, they have a lot of good stuff, some lyrics are sad and others kinda funny. Also their concerts are lovely and amazing, my trip to korea was only bc of them, I wanted to be in their Nell's Room Concert (you can find 2013, 2017 and some videos of 2022 en their yt channel), they always have a christmas concert every year and i'm planing going again for this year.
I'm sorry, Taeyeon version was good but doesn't compare to original. Maybe because you heard her version first. It's funny that you say his version "gives different spin" lol. Should be the other way around.
I actually don't always prefer the original version of a song. I have more connection to her version as I've been listening to Taeyeon since 2008 while only heard a little of Nell before. Since I heard his original version after Taeyeon's, that's why I said it had a different flavour.

Nell's (Jongwan's) version is more raw emotion while I think Taeyeon's exceeds at smooth butteriness (and is probably the brightest in color), then Sungkyu -- the only other artist's cover who I think brings enough to the song -- is more wistful/contemplative. Jongwan is still the best for me because of the depth of his connection to the lyrics. Nell's lyricism is pretty unique and the way Jongwan expresses them is filled with emotion, pain, hope, etc. Just so amazing.
