Ian you’re unbelievable - one of the great drummers
Hello, how are you? It’s nice meeting you here.
Ritchie Blackmore doesn't get talked about enough when it comes to the greatest guitarists. Neo-classic and Phrygian/Double Harmonic shred was almost unheard of back in the 60s plus he wrote arguable the greatest riff of all time. He's on my Mount Rushmore of guitarists along with Hendrix, Page and EVH
Strongly agree with this opinion. On few occasions they mention the great Ritchie Blackmore as one of the great guitarists of the time. But for those of us who know good music and rock, Mr. Blackmore is on the cusp of the greats like Jimmi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, etc.
I read that Ritchie can be a bit of an a**hole. Therefore, he doesn't get good press or the attention that he deserves.
broo say it louder for the people in the back!!
a lot of people talk of EVH as the last "creator" alive, but i disagree on that. not that EVH wasn't one of the greats, but Blackmore is still alive and he should also be considered a "creator", a very important chapter in the history of the electric guitar, along with Jimi Hendrix and EVH, that helped expand it's vocabulary. he was a huge inspiration for EVH, Malmsteen, Brian Tatler etc. and if it weren't for the heavy rock direction DP took because of him, we wouldn't've had Metallica. his playing still sounds fresh to this day, he was many many years ahead of his time. one of the greatest guitarists ever still alive (such a shame he can barely still play the guitar tho).
fantastic drummer Mr Ian Paice
Best live band ever. Jon Lord and Ian Paice shine here...and Blackmore Is stellar!
At 15:42 Paicey drops his drumstick and keeps on rockin'! Definitely the most underrated drummer ever. Deep Purple '69-'73 was untouchable. It's a fact. Look it up!
Recorded in August 1969 in a small municipality named Bilzen in Belgium. The festival name was "Jazz Bilzen". The older generation is still proud that Deep Purple featured on their poster😉
*Deep Purple is one of the best bands of all time!*
well, that is obviuos to all, esp. to DP Fans
Yes
DP managed to give us Heavy Metal, Jazz, Classical and Goth ALL in 1 song!! LOVE THIS!! Everyone showing their prowess, too💜
And in 1969 no less
Dp hanno suonato tutto: soul classica rock metal funky
Thank you deep purple for all your music throughout the years and Gillian you are my superhero for a voice always I always wanted to be a singer like you
Wring that neck, the mule and mandrake root are greatest improvised stage music ever, EVER!
True i would love to have mandrake root back in the set right after Space Truckin', just like they did in their younger years.
Last time they did this was back in 1993, the last time Blackmore was with the band.
It's a shame they dropped it, it's such a wall of energy and a great way to end a show on an absolute high.
Hat's off to whomever mic'd Ian's drums. Awesome performance.
19 minutes of nothing but pure hardcore rock! It doesn't get any better than this! Simply fantastic!
The best band ever!!!!
I agree with you, be it Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord & Paice. Both the earlier & later renditions of Them were never the same. Bands that last much longer such as The Who, The Stones, Slade & The Kinks really gave them a run for their money, as They lasted longer without too many line-up changes. Can't see David Coverdale singing either Smoke or Strange Kind.

I agree
And led zeppelin
@@aytonkaleb
Pink Floyd ....Genesis 😉
Every single member of this band is a once-in-a-century talent on their respective instrument. Unbelievable. I could listen to a 24h drum solo by Ian Paice without going to the bathroom.
Deep purple greatest band happ birthday ritchie blackmore
This shows why Ritchie Blackmore is Deep Purple's greatest guitarist.
Only guitarist, actually. No DP without RB
@@TheJadoBado - so... ignore the last 26 years?
@@zeeox Yes, however long
Steve Morse has been uncreatively taking up space on stage. Absolutely ignore that window of time.
@@Zoetropeification - wow. Well, horses for courses. I for one love Mark II best in terms of albums, but the banjo player took a hike, so...
Unfortunately the tragic demise then death of Tommy Bolin(whom Blackmore suggested his band mates check out) leaves one of histories grandest questions, the age old What If, or If Only Not For, etc. I think Bolin would have extended Blackmore's creativity, originality, and his expertise.
Incredible drum work by Ian
I love you Deep Purple ❤❤❤
Happy Birthday

Omg I can’t with these guys!! Each band member is top-notch-a star❤
Love Deep Purple, especially Ritchie 🥰
I seen an interview with Rick Wakeman where he was asked who his keyboard hero was, his answer was Jon Lord......... 👈😎
Jon Lord and Ian Paice are two monsters of rock.
Rest in peace,Mister Lord!
Ritchie, John and little Ian were BEASTS!
The Best guitar hammond drum combo creative wise, their prowess is still unsurpassed. That trio is the definition of world class musicians.
Deep Purple has had many good singers. But unlike most other bands, they don't need one!
This is amazing!
Happy birthday ritchie blackmore

So you don't know hallelujah.
Jon Lord is an organ player who is able to combine Marshall guitar amps with full gain settings without any mixture of overdrive pedals or distortion pedals, natural from the Marshall guitar amp itself. So the sound produced is truly pure distortion from a guitar amp.
Excellent! I'm so glad I finally get to see some longer footage of Ritchie playing. For some reason it seems to be rare for a video of Purple to focus on Blackmore for more than a few seconds.
Yes, it's weird isn't it. You can see whole tracks with long guitar solos with never a shot of Ritchie other than in wide shots of the whole stage. I wondered whether he had his near invisibility in his contract.
Bellissimo concerto.
Very rare to see Ritchie smile through out the performance!

Ritchie was the father of neo-classical rock/metal music. He fused the two, and many other styles, together to create the biggest trend of the 1980's/90's and beyond. Absolute genius. Seeing him live was the best memory in life. And I've had many very great memories!
Thanks....super

Best band in the world.
Mark II.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. RITCHIE BLACKMORE!!
Another fantastic piece from an MKII live show. But just a short part of the full show. I am still amazed that there are so few concerts filmed from this period, compared to other bands for which there are numerous films in concert or in the studio.
I add that there is no sung part. A bit like the concert in Paris in 1970 where there is just the short sung part of Mandrake Root.
This will remain timeless from the alpha to the omega and through again!
does not get any better
