Man is a legend,,and I said is not was because I'll play his music till I die,, his Hank, Cash, Jones, Whalen, Willy, D.A.C Fisher, and Straight all day everyday
Absolutely one of the best tunes from Merle and the fact that every member of the band had a chance to perform and play their Solo part was the greatest part of this Iconic Tune!
l agree with you, indeed Merle Haggard is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style,he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.
God bless Merle. Legend like no one else. God Bless the Haggard Family, our hearts and souls go out to you tonight. What an amazing man he was, his music is ours forever thank the Lord Jesus Christ
Now this is true Country Music. For those of us who still like the real country music, we need to stick together and bring back that old country music sound back. That is what we want or alot of the newer ones are going to be out of a job. I can't stand the today's so call country music.
Wow; Merle was amazing! Just listen to the guitar, sax, and piano solos in this one. There are others online, such as the original recording (I presume). One of the best 2-steps I have ever heard if you like to dance. I miss Merle, too. Tom
Pretty sure Merle did not do the guitar, sax, and pianos solos here but it is a great track to ness around with over cuts. I love it to bits. 2 step is a bit of a niche thing here, but music is what matters if you love it or hate it.
My Dad just passed away a week ago, and this was his favorite song, I'm glad I can find such a great rendition.
There isn't one country singer today(it's not even country anymore) that can touch the cool factor of Merle Haggard.
Waylon Jennings
Waylon died over 20 years ago bub
Absolutely love Merle!!! His voice, his delivery, and his song writing. Oh, and let’s not forget his guitar playing!! He’s the absolute best!!
Absolutely love Merle
2024 & still the Truth!
My favorite song to sing and play by the great Merle Haggard. Merle has always and will remain my favorite true country musician and entertainer.

The Hag himself takes a ride on his Telecaster on this one! Not half bad.
It's a great solo! I wonder where that guitar is right now.
He was one of a kind, miss you Merle !
Look at how the good man Merle inflicts his words to the music in the opening lyrics, you are indeed "just staying there and drinking" ....marvelous!
