Parque Omar in the city is a wonderful park too. Locals call it "Panama's Central Park." About the metro, you can use any Mastercard or Visa, credit or debit, to get through the turnstiles. Takes you all the way to the airport and beyond for less than a dollar.

She’s wrong about the requirements for a pensionado visa. In Panamá you cannot get a pensionado visa based on investments or “having enough cash in the bank.” You can only qualify for a pensionado visa if you can prove at least $1,000 USD GUARANTEED monthly income FOR LIFE for a single person based only on retirement pensions or something like US Social security or some form of government or retirement MONTHLY INCOME FOR LIFE. You can have millions of dollars in the bank but that won’t qualify you for a pensionado visa in Panamá. Millions of dollars in the bank will qualify you for a visa in México however.

OMG --- $1100 rent is more than the $1000 required income to qualify for a seniors retirement visa ? Not sure how 'that' works ? > A 30% rule would require $300 rent max. or 30% of $1000 ? --- Her lifestyle must be very extravagant by typical Panamanian standards ? (almost 4 times the max) ? --- $5,000 for a lawyer sounds like extorsion - just like Argentina's 'fees' ? (mafioso like) This seems very expensive to move there compared to the Philippines for example ? 🤔 -- And -- they speak English over there !

Panama is now expensive and cost keep rising. One can live n Panama City off of $2500.00-$$3000.00 but don’t expect to be doing too much other than taking a walk or staying on the computer all day long in your apartment. I lived there in the late 70’s for almost three years and have now lived in Colombia for the past 27 years, visiting Panama numerous times to go fishing. I have cut back on the trips to Panama and just travel to the states for breaks because the cost to go to Panama has gotten so high.

Many in the middle of the US don't think it's cheap either ! California & NYC think so. 'Average' US - SS retirement is about $1800 USD / mo. Good in S E Asia -- not in the US ? -- Many are retired in Cambodia with $800 to $1200 checks also. And the Philippines where many do well on $1000 USD.
