- Here's a recap of all the songs that competed for Czechia (formerly known as Czech Republic) in Eurovision Song Contest from 2007 to 2023. Please, enjoy!
The Czech Republic, presented as Czechia since 2023, has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 11 times since making its debut in 2007. After receiving nul points in the semi-final of the 2009 contest and due to a lack of interest from the Czech public, Czech broadcaster Česká televize (ČT) decided not to participate in future contests. ČT announced its return to the contest in 2015, with an internal selection being used to select its fourth Eurovision entry.
In 2016, Gabriela Gunčíková became the first Czech entrant to reach the final, finishing 25th with the song "I Stand". After the country failed to qualify in 2017, Mikolas Josef became the second Czech entrant to reach the final and the first to reach the top ten, placing sixth in 2018. In 2019, Lake Malawi finished eleventh, achieving the country's third best result in the contest. The fourth best result was achieved in 2022 by We Are Domi, finishing 22nd. The second best result was achieved in 2023 by Vesna, finishing tenth.

Czech Republic is my favorite Eurovision country! I hope you will win one day! Greetings from Croatia my dear Slavic sisters! 🇨🇿❤🇭🇷
Am happy you like us❤😊 love from czech rebublic❤❤❤
Czechia is slowly becoming one of the most interesting countries to look for at Eurovision. I hope they will get their first win this decade!
As a native Czech, i have to appriciate all of u supporting my country at ESC, can't wait to see what Czechs come with on Eurovision 2024! :D
@@kaktusman1285since 2018 (except for 2019) i have loved every single Czechian song!! good luck in the future from Sweden 🇸🇪❤❤🇨🇿
@@237.zr9 Thank you so much! I love sweden! 🇸🇪❤️🇨🇿
knowing the fact that they finished top 10 twice, in 2018 (6th) and in 2023 (10th)
I am Czech and I would love to experience us winning once,it eould be so cool
Since returning in 2015, i love many entries from our neighbours, hope to see them WIN someday. 🇨🇿🧡🇸🇰
Hopefully Slovakia returns soon aswell
Hope you come back, too.
They are said to come back next year
Horehronie was one of the best songs in eurovision!! please come back 🙏🏼
Thank you❤❤ i hope Your country wins too soon❤❤❤❤❤❤ love from czchia❤❤
They deserved to qualify more. 2023 was really good and so was 2007
Too bad the musicians try to cater to the "normies" for the lack of a better term; instead of focusing on music and language that represents the country.
Malá Dáma and My sisters crown were fully Czech and partially Czech respectively, and had powerful lyrics. I'm willing to pretend "OMAGA" never existed
@@nightcoremadstudioreborn4299 Kabát are typical Czech agrometal, I don't think they are interested in such gener in other countries, they started as pretty good thrash metal band, but later they got lazy. And I don't think that eurovision should be about bands that are already big and known. Vesna was pretty weird thing, that song was not bad, but most of that band can't even speak Czech and there is nothing Czech about that sond and videoclip, it looks and sounds russian. Most of Czechs don't even know that Vesna was a slavic goddess, it doesn't really represent our culture.
I hope Czechia will get their first win soon, I really loved their two last entries!
omg,Believe me, Czech TV wouldn't want that
Yeah, I hope that never happens :D As a Czech I couldn't bear the embarassement of a totally botched ESC if it was organized in Czechia.
If that would happen, the contest would most probably be hosted in 2nd best entries country, since Czechia does not have very much money to spend on the Eurovision, this year we almost did not participate due to financial reasons. And if the Czech TV did organize Eurovision in Prague, I am moving to different country, because I coul NOT handlle the embarrasement of screwing a whole Eurovison contest
@@f.lobell BTW it need to organize
@@f.lobellus in Sweden will gladly do it for you 😂
Love how after 2009 and the literal rock bottom of results, Czechia took the hint and began really improving. Genuinely one of the best underdog stories I’ve seen out of any country in Eurovision story, and one where even with their occasional slips, they’ve been delivering quality in recent years!
mala dama didn't deserve last, but yes, biggest redemption story in Eurovision by far
if only Slovakia got similar results (poor Kristina and max Jason mai)
Hope Never dies
Hopefully if they ever manage to won, It will encourage Slovakia to return!
I still find it crazy how Slovakia and Czechia never had the opportunity to vote for each other, even in the one year where they competed together, because they didn't qualify and they were in separate semi-finals.

Czechia is definently one of my favourite countries in the ESC. This year, when everybody talked about Sweden and Finland, my phone went warm for the entry from Czechia. Their entry was pure brilliance in so many ways. I'm so happy that the jury groups saved the song to a decent result. Greetings from Dalsland, Sweden 👏👏👏👏👏

Czechia from 00's and Czechia from 2015+ is a TOTALLY different world
Also, to send the most known (agro)metal band to Eurovision in 2007 is pretty weird, it should be about new talents, not about the biggest bands we have that play for decades. And I don't think they are interested in agrometal gener in other countries, that's specifically Czech thing. They started as a pretty good thrash metal band in 90s, but later they got lazy and created what we call agrometal now (village redneck metal/rock). 😀 That Gypsy band was at least funny and original. Vesna was pretty weird thing, like that song was kind of good, but I find it weird to send bands where most of that band can't even speak Czech to represent Czech Republic.

Czechia is becoming such a interesting country at ESC. Imagine Eurovision in beautiful Prague 🥰
I as a czech could NOT handle the embarrasement of screwing the whole Eurovision contest, czech TV BARELY has money to send a contestant and participate, every year its like a hunger games between the czech TV and participating in the contest, who knows if we will participate next year

Actually I believe they still got it hard this year (2023) because they performed JUST after "ChA cha cha" 😂😢
Hello my dear slavic brothers and sisters! Greetings from Czech republic
Tbh, Czechia has had pretty solid ones recently! Lights Off is really good, and imo Omaga is underrated
So impressed by vesna and their empowering message for women "we are not your dolls"❤❤
My favorite country in Eurovision
Thank you so much 😭 sending love from Prague 🫶
Czech Republic is in my top 10 since 2018. They are doing a really job.
Still thinking on how Underrated were I Stand and Lights Off🥺
I loved my sister’s crown. It was a very good song with a beautiful message, I truly appreciate it. I think it will age really well 🇺🇦❤🇨🇿
VESNA>>>>>>
We are Domi for me :)
@@MustiiForTheWinBoth for me!
Czechia pre-hiatus and post-hiatus are like day and night. Their first few entries not only did poorly, but also weren't all great. Afterwards, they manage to amp up the quality, and have their charms about them too! Hopefully, we will see a Eurovision in Prague soon!
5. Lights Off (2022): I like the dark atmosphere of this one--it's pensive and yearning, all at once. The "try changing jobs/try changing lovers..." part was especially strong, in my opinion.
4. Hope Never Dies (2015): Sometimes I think I don't like this song very much, but when I return to it, it really cuts through. The lyrics are incredibly powerful, and tell a compelling story. I felt like the final chorus added a nice twist to the tale.
3. Omaga (2021): Unfortunately, Benny had no energy on stage, which is a shame because Omaga is a total jam. I like the charm in it as well as overall feel of the song.
2. I Stand (2016): Czechia's first qualification, and a grand one too. I love the imperial feel of the song, from the instrumental to the way Gabriela performs it. I just get into the ambience of it all.
1. My Sister's Crown (2023): But this one takes the cake in its eccentricity, its message, and its overall journey.
2007 was great. 2016 awful
Yeah, we used to send our big (locally) famous artists that have good PR but mediocre music and many of us felt really embarassed for them. Post-hiatus we started sending more indie performers who really have the drive to succeed and it changed a lot :)
Vesna by far the best for me
man, lights off is such a great song. i know Omaga didn't have a great live but I actually really love that song. My Sister's Crown was my #3 this year
3. "I Stand"
2. "Friend of a Friend"

Czechia has been in my top 10 a grand total of 4 times since their return in 2015. They’re growing on me as a eurovision country and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the future!
Czech language has such a beautiful sounding. Like damn just sing on your native language no English and you'll win for sure

We got screwed over by the running order every single time we got to the final. Regardless, I would really like to see ESC in my home city of Ostrava someday.
@@eurovisionfloptropica It's not that bad actually, the city's changed a lot in the past years. Besides, if we actually won Eurovision and ČT would somehow get the money to host, the O2 arena and Ostravar arena are the only eligible ones. So if they don't want to be lame and host it in Prague, Ostrava is the only other option.

Why they change the name from "Czech Republic" to "Czechia???
They've always wanted to be known as Czechia, while saving Czech Republic for more government official things. Think France and it's official name, The French Republic, or America and The United States of America.
I heard that foreigners were complaining that Czech Republic is too long. The official name in Czech remains the same.
