    SMALL KITCHEN DESIGN
    Designing a small kitchen requires thoughtful planning and creative use of space. Here are some key considerations:
    Maximize Storage: In a small kitchen, efficient storage is crucial. Use vertical space by installing cabinets up to the ceiling. Consider deep drawers for pots and pans, and incorporate solutions like pull-out shelves, corner cabinets, and lazy Susans for optimal space utilization.
    Streamline Appliances: Choose appliances that are proportionate to the size of the kitchen. Compact or multi-functional appliances, such as a combination microwave and convection oven, can save space. Opt for built-in appliances where possible to maintain a sleek look.
    Work Triangle Efficiency: Pay attention to the layout of the sink, refrigerator, and stove, known as the work triangle. This triangle should be compact in a small kitchen to minimize movement and increase efficiency.
    Light and Color: Use light colours to make the space larger and more open. Glossy finishes and reflective surfaces can also enhance the sense of space. Good lighting is essential; consider under-cabinet lights for task areas and brighter, ambient lighting for the overall space.
    Minimalist Design: A clutter-free, minimalist design can make a small kitchen feel more spacious. Avoid heavy ornamentation. Sleek, clean lines and simple hardware can create a sense of order and space.
    Multipurpose Surfaces: Incorporate multifunctional surfaces, like a fold-down table or a kitchen island on wheels, which can be used for dining, prep work, or additional storage.
    Ventilation: Good ventilation is essential, especially in a small kitchen where odours and heat can accumulate quickly. A quality range hood or a strategically placed window can help maintain a comfortable environment.
    Remember, balancing functionality with aesthetics is the key to a successful small kitchen design. Every element should serve a purpose while contributing to an overall sense of harmony and openness.

    The kitchens look good. But my biggest problem with them is them is the service gap at the back of cabinets being only 40mm rather than 60 -70mm. You can’t get a waste pipe through!. Also only 560mm deep rather than the standard 575mm makes it very tight for integrated appliances to fit. I would recommend them to customers more if it wasn’t for the issues mentioned

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  6 месяцев назад +6

      Hi Peter. You make a good point but they do it so the kitchens can be fitted in a tight space. If you need that extra bit it is very easy to pack the base units out with the adjustable spacers. I have spent more time trimming backs than packing out.

    I used these for my house back in 2017, went up to their showroom first to have a look at the build quality before taking the plunge
    The only criticism I've got is that the paint is starting to come off in a few places, my wife doesn't use anything abrasive when cleaning the units so I know it's not anything that we are doing wrong

    Excellent workmanship (apart from the outside tap - but we all get minor faults in a big job!)

    I've just completed a fairly large DIY Kitchen install, no problems with the quality, or fitting minimum spend is £750 and you will need that order number to reorder extras or computer says no.
    The only thing to be very wary about is delivery, I ticked the box that their lorry could get down my road which it can as I can get articulated 40 ton lorries down my standard London street, the day of delivery the driver rings up and says he's sending the order back as his lorry is to big, resulting in a massive disappointment and sullied the whole deal. It was eventually sorted out.
    I then ordered extra units a few months later & driver had no problem delivering with DIY Kitchens largest lorry. Would I order again? Yes but be very wary of delivery as they cram lots of kitchens on one large lorry. contact them beforehand be prepared to pay extra for delivery.
