Speaking of speed, a few years ago I was in an accident on the other side of the Van Wyck Expressway (the first highway they get on) in Queens, in the morning rush hour. An FDNY truck was on-scene within 2 minutes, immediately blocking the left and center lanes (the accident was in the left lane) and the crew immediately set about extracting one of the drivers.
Same with mine. The best part is when he drives his subaru with his light bar and sirens going. I'm pretty sure he's hit 70 on my road (speed limit 45) from the look of it. Great guy and great IC.
Windows XP ?????? LOL what very surprised it booted up as quick as it did, by the way, what did he have in his rear view mirror, looked like a small monitor for something//
Not to necro an 8 year old comment but XP is still a great OS and the FDNY's version is a barebones install. They've stripped out everything they didn't need and kept only what they had to have. So it loads much faster than a normal home PC install.

Question. Are all five rescues under this battalion or are they under the battalion in their area?
Under the Rescue Battalion
There is absolutely no sense of any urgency.
Love the vid - is there a part 2??

FDNY Morse Code
Nice...what part of NYC is this? Queens, Brooklyn? And if so what section? Thanks
Bronx
It is Queens. The highway they got on is the Van Wyck Expressway northbound (southbound leads to JFK) then to the Whitestone Expressway.
Is that one of Chief Ray Downey's sons in the white shirt? Sure sounds like him
Windows XP...I remember that
Wally and Mac - classic.
I love FDNY but this unit was really slow
Most of them were the older ones with the 6.2 were non turbo n real slow
K means something like clear for example engine 1 clear... engine 1 k
It means the same as "over".
K means over or break. It goes back to the days of Morse code
what is that system in the mid of the car?
MDT. Shows call info
What is K in there radio transmission?
"Copy"
Jason Morrison Thanks
"K" means that the unit or dispatcher is concluding their particular radio transmission
renbag Basically the same thing lol But yeah that too
"K" indicates the end of the message AND I'm awaiting a reply.
They need to know how to mix up the sirens :/
I was thinking the same thing they need to switch over to the Hi-LO
This video wasn't as funny as the movie "Ride Along". Just sayin'.......
