The most incredible motorcycles in the world. I have a 2008 Heritage Softail and I ride it hard. The bike is bullet proof reliable. I am grateful to own a HD.
I sold motorcycles in the early 80s when Harley hired von Beals.. That man was a businessman/negotiator/salesman. He talked Ronald Reagan into putting a tariff on Japanese motorcycles because he claimed they were dumping them here in the United States. When the tariff was enforced, a 750 Honda or Yamaha that sold for 2999, immediately went to 4750. The prices of the smaller machines also went up..The prices of motorcycles have gone up since the tariff years, and they never came back down after the tariff expired. You can thank Harley Davidson for that.. The shops I worked in before the tariffs were so busy, we couldn’t build the motorcycles fast enough. The shop I worked in in the early 70s had seven full-time mechanics, four full-time builders, seven parts man, a full-time service manager, 2 full-time secretary’s, A notary public,An accountant, and 4 full-time salesman. Times were like the new Gold Rush in Japanese brand motorcycle shops then. Harley was making junk and everybody knew it so nobody was buying the junk. Harley claimed they needed to save the 600 jobs in Milwaukee Wisconsin of the Americans that made Harley Davidson’s. No one has ever mentioned that over 1100 Japanese motorcycle shops in this country went out of business because of the tariffs. The average number of employees at those 1100 motorcycle shops was seven employees. What about those jobs that were lost? The motorcycle industry in the United States has never ever recovered from the Harley tariffs on Japanese motorcycles. Example, I believe that Yamaha sold over 120,000 650 cc twin motorcycles in 1977. That was just the 650 that had that number. There hasn’t been a year since then that Yamaha has sold that many motorcycles total all cc sizes since then. The only reason Harley Davidson is still in business is because of Ronald Reagan. Today, a lot of the parts on Harley Davidson’s are made in China or Japan. I thought that they were sworn Americans wrapping them selves in the American flag at all times. I have never wanted a Harley, I have tried them, I don’t get it, why anyone would settle for one of those relics when so much better for so much less money is available.. The English motorcycle magazine motorcycle, said it best about Harleys after a road test they did. They said, they don’t go, and they don’t stop. Too piggin slow.... Amen....
El Camino Never owned a Camry, but my mother and sister owned Camrys because I told them to buy them because, they are the second best car ever made. The first best car ever made? A Corolla. That’s not a guess, that’s a fact I’m repeating because you brought it up....that’s according to a survey of AAA garage owners and mechanics that was published in Consumer news. I drive a 2018 ram hemi. Before that I had a GMC Canyon, before that I had a Ford ranger, before that I had a Ford E150, before that I had a Chevy panel truck, before that I had a Ford Econoline... Those were just my trucks absolutely necessary for hauling my motorcycles. I had five Volkswagen beetles, I had a Buick 59 four-door sedan, I had a Pontiac 59 Catalina convertible, I still have the 1958 MGA I had in high school, I had a 68 dodge charger, I had a 67 Pontiac GTO convertible, I had a 1972 pinto, a 1972 Saab sonnet, A Nissan Sentra, a 72 Chevelle Malibu, a Pontiac Grand Prix, I Saab 900S, I’ve had a few motorcycles too...105 so far...Honda 305 scrambler, Honda 305 superhawk, Bridgestone 350 GTR, Suzuki X6 hustler, Kawasaki 500 triple, Kawasaki 350 S2 drum brake..Kawasaki 350 S2 w disc, Kawasaki A7SS avenger, Kawasaki KE125 dual sport, Yamaha IT 175, Suzuki TS 185, Yamaha DS7, Yamaha CT2, Yamaha YZ125, Yamaha RD 250, Yamaha R5, Yamaha RD 60, Yamaha GT 80, Yamaha TY250, Honda 160, Kawasaki KLR 650, Yamaha 550 Seca, Yamaha Seca 600, Yamaha XS 750, Yamaha XS 650, another Yamaha XS 650, a third Yamaha XS 650, 77 Honda 750 SS, I had three Honda CB 400 F, Kawasaki H1Rfactory road racer,Yamaha TD2Bfactory road racer, Yamaha TZ 250 D factory road racer,, fantic section 250 trials..beta 250 jordy tarred replica trials..gasgas jordy tarrez replica 250 trials 250...Honda Xr 250 R.. Yamaha venture royale, BMW K 1200 LT, another Yamaha venture. Honda 750 custom, another Yamaha RD 250, and another Yamaha RD 250. Yamaha RZ 350, Kawasaki Z1, Suzuki DR 100, Yamaha GT 80, Suzuki LT 50, Suzuki LT 80, Yamaha FJ 1200, Suzuki 1000 VStrom, Yamaha TT 500,since 1968 (yes I was there, and you missed it) Not necessarily in that order. I worked full-time as a motorcycle mechanic for three years, In a Honda/Yamaha dealership, I worked 14 years part time in five different motorcycle shops, they were dealerships for Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Moto Guzzi Vespa, I may have forgotten a few cars and bikes..in fact I’m sure I have missed a few cars. Like the 59 Chevy and the 65 Corvair Spyder I also had. There was also a Chevy pick up truck but I can’t remember the model or the year. It was a six cylinder three on the tree step side. I have over 300,000 miles just commuting on motorcycles. I will soon surpass 800,000 miles on motorcycles total. That does not include miles I have spent riding Offroad and on road race tracks....I have won 6 road racing championships in eight years. I was national champion road racing two times.Of all the motorcycles I have had over all the years, I only lost money on 4 of them when I resold them. One got burned up in a fire, one got destroyed in A road racing crash, the two other motorcycles I lost money- two I bought brand new.All but two of the motorcycles I ever bought ran when I bought them, and when I sold them. I never owned an English motorcycle, I never owned a Harley..I wish I would have bought a triumph 650 Bonneville and a Norton commando,, and I am glad I never bought a Harley. Never will either. Why won’t I own a harley? Experience....
I have an 05 Heritage Softtail and will be my last Harley. No, I enjoy it and it's been reliable but new prices!! I was sent ad for new electric Harley. 30 thousand dollars?!?!! Harley you've lost your mind.
Yo no le pido nada más a Dios el poder comprarme una Harley Davidson ,y recién hay sería el hombre más feliz del mundo, que digo del mundo de la galaxia entera ,recién hay me podría morir en paz
Wow sure is different from when I bought my 81 FatBob. The place is ten times bigger than my area and there's actually women around motorcycles. Up here in the great white north they're welded to yoga mats 24/7.
The V rod platform was the future. HD executives failed to see the customization possibilities for that reliable engine. Not only sport riders, but for touring models as well. Offering it with high revving commuter bikes, race mods, turbos....etc. That V rod engine is damn near bullet-proof. Leave it to narrow minded pencil pushers to put it in the ugliest, most uncomfortable to ride bike on the planet. Then kill the whole thing because they couldn't sell them. Want an ever-evolving product? Listen to future buyers, not past buyers with a foot already in the grave. Corporations are loaded with dummies.
Recently got back into riding and I checked out the biggest and baddest from all the different motorcycle builders. I've owned Harleys in the past but I must say that I am not impressed with the new lineup. I wound up buying an 03 suzuki intruder and it is every bit the quality and performance of a Harley but only cost me $3000 as aposed to the$5000 to$40,000 of the similar models from HD . I simply will not pay for the nostalgia or name of Harley Davidson just because the majority falls for that bullshit. It's not what you ride,it's simply that you ride that makes you a biker.
So the Japanese are making bikes that look like Harley-Davidson , and HARLEY-DAVIDSON is making bikes that look Japanese ?? We live in a stupid world.......
PL boycott such vechile who consuming heavy petrol, for sake of our planet which is now worming causing problem to antarika, heavy rain, floods, many insects, animals, many plants disaaperd due to climate change, for our children ,our society .
Yeah, the camera work sucks!!! Way too fast. Did not get to see a thing. And the cameraman must only like cruisers because that the only type of bikes he recorded, even though some of these cruisers were already recorded. Very repetitive as he recorded the same bikes over and over again, and not informative at all since he pretty much left out all of the other Harley lines, such as the softails for instance, except if they were placed on his path to a cruiser. Very amateur camera skillls...
Dude, you blew off the duel off road/on road bikes, man! You had time! They worked their asses off to create that duel style bike with swagger.
