    I have a bunch of Autoworld T~Jets & trying to get some speed out of them ❓🏁❓🏁 going to try this. I did purchase a boat load of Jel Claws and it's a big improvement by its self. Thanks for the tip, Mike

    I gotta tell ya', I "love" the realism of the cars. From T-Jets to Super-G Plus (Because of the detail, like the old matchbox's had), noting that the Super-G's in-stock-formation go at almost 3000-mph scale speed, "Lord have mercy", no real car can go that fast, and of course the new ways to build the cars can get pretty pricey for a car that can barely stay on the track with the super-jet-speed when it comes out of the box. I'll stick to the stock formation, but if I am blessed enough to find races I will enjoy watching and learning said modifications (HO Slot car dessert here in Dallas: I HATE IT). I really enjoy your shows (When I can slow down and breath). Keep stottin'....... :-)

    dude when i used to race these cars we took the brushes out of the motor and threw them away . We took the silver plated pickup shoe springs and put them in the motor and used the springs from under the motor brushes for the pickup shoes,stretched them a little bit. those modifications along with the right winding and the cars where faster then afx gplus cars . very simple very fast. cheap old school .

    1960's tip: solder on shunt wires from pickups to brush plates. The stock connection isn't really continuous.

    They use tungsten because it's heavy and lowers the center of gravity. Stainless steel is also non-magnetic, but the same weight as steel.

      ^this. There are plenty of lesser magnetic (metals are ALL magnetic to some degree whether you can feel it or not) that they could use instead of steel. Aluminum, for example.

    I see you mentioned one of our friends business, ZoominMotorsports, Paul Kniffen. Paul makes amazing tracks and car parts. He is a total professional...he has his own track at his business that we have raced at. Check his business out...

      This is why stock and sportsman classes exist in a lot of racing hobbies. I don't know if Slot Car racing has sportsman, but based on how the guy was talking about stock vehicles there's probably at least a stock class.
      Heck, there's even sportsman classes for robot combat.

    Is it legal to 3D print a blank chassis, has long as its some specs? Or does it have to be a name brand?

    • @slotcarcrazy
      @slotcarcrazy  8 лет назад

      +WigWagWorkshop no it had to be a stock aurora tjet chassis

    The power rails on the routed track look flatter than the standard AFX, does that prevent the pick up shoes from wearing out so fast?

    • @slotcarcrazy
      @slotcarcrazy  8 лет назад

      +jazzyjerome they were about then same

    • @theBSisreal
      @theBSisreal 8 лет назад

      I would assume that a flatter or rounder surface would have lower wear. The standard AFX is like a knife on the shoes, it would be cool to do a comparison.

      The section of track (grey) you used during the opening segment, as a test section ,was made by an independent track builder or??? Do you have the name of the manufacture. Thanks for the info.

      What wears them fast is bad power. Wall warts eat shoes. Batteries or clean PS power make them last much longer.

    I think a more accurate description of a fray car would be a less slow T-Jet

    • @slotcarcrazy

    It does sadden me, that, like model trains, the manufacturers have pushed 'collection' of the products, where collectors try to acquire these things because they think it's an investment, and people who actually race them, no longer can buy the new releases because the collectors buy 'em up and stuff them in a box in an attic forever. Kind of like baseball cards, where the companies started selling entire year sets of cards, as 'collector's investments to own every potentially valuable card. Problem is, there will be so many thousands available on the collector market, that they will never appreciate to the point where they will be worth the investment.

      +Mike Hagen they can't be below 15

      Each armature pole is to be measured across two separate commutator segments. The AVERAGE of all three poles must be 16.0 ohms or greater at 70 degrees. This armature is LEGAL. All measurements are to be taken at the current available room (ambient) air temperature. The warming of either the commutator or the armature is not allowed before/during measuring. (The combined total ohm reading of all three armature poles must equal or exceed 48 ohms.) We have an armature that tests 16.0 on all three poles at 70 degrees. It ohms lower in cooler temperatures and will be the standard for testing arms at the event. The Hall temperature can vary between 60 to 70 degrees depending on time of year.
