It is so true the confusion and lack of closure they give. I have never been so confused in my life and I am not a youngster. They broke up with me, but bought me a new phone, on their plan, the week before, and also gave me tickets for my dream vacation, that was to take place in four months. (With them) If that didn’t confuse one? I just hung in there to return and hang on for another year. Of course, I have that figured out now, Duh!! This time I bought a new phone on my plan, and bought a trip which included my furniture and things and after 9 years, I have been gone for a month. It is hard. You have to change your number, close your social media accounts, ask people not to respond to their posts on your behalf, then about when you think you have it you end up in the ER for a crisis, but guess who was called as your emergency contact that you added years ago but forgot about? They don’t want you but they will not close.
Much of this rings true. At first they were solicitous of me but over time this stopped. I kept hearing about how needs are not person specific. While there is a certain limited truth in this, ie. I may need a ride and you may not be available, I heard this over and over to the point where any need I had was not going to be met by then. It got to the point where even the need for basic decent treatment was not going to be met by them. Basically whatever I needed from them was not going to be there. I am not talking about anything extravagant. Just basic things, like being listened to etc.
And tho I certainly have flaws, I cared about them.a lot and listened and supported them in numerous ways, actually over the top support. They took me on a lot of great adventures and I learned many things but there was always drama. Every visit was kind of scary and I never knew how they would act, always had fear that something would trip them.up and I would get hurt
