I never met anyone like Eddie before in my life... He is a modest genius and easy to be around and is an example of what any parent should want their Son to become. He comes from very modest beginnings and had the world in his hands and did positive things with his talent. Today's Billionair Recording Artists should learn from Eddie and follow his example.
I love the Rascals, and I love Eddie Brigati for giving the world timeless treasures that people will enjoy forever. Each song is a special gift and a whole world of insight that we can all relate to. The whole band was extraordinarily gifted. They made the world a better place with their music and it still happens every single day.
I have always liked the way he banged that tambourine. And singing "How can I be sure". I like their music. I was a child in the 60s and these people made me feel like I was on top of the world.
In the spring of 1969, the RASCALS came to the University of Tennessee, and at the last minute, someone gave me a ticket to go see them at the Stokely Athletic Center. I had to cut my evening calculus class which I was taking again after failing it the first time. But I made the decision that The Rascals were more important than my calculus class. And I was so glad I did, even to this day and I'm now 73. I remember the concert as if it were yesterday. Eddie was quite the dancer and singer and front man, Felix was just the backbone genius keyboard artist with his organ, and of course his voice. The drummer and guitarist were perfect. They tried out new songs on us including "It's a beautiful morning" and more important songs that appeared on their upcoming album in the late 60s. It was a peak experience. I went by myself, and I have enjoyed those memories ever since. What a band. What talent!! They played every hit they were famous for, and it was all so fresh and perfect. I was so disappointed that they didn't go much farther than that is The Rascals. I'm still waiting, I guess . . .
I loved the Rascals saw them in Madison Square Garden. Had a major crush on Eddie as a young girl. I grew up and bought a small florist years later. One day a gentleman walked into my shop to check out a plant sale. Face to face with him I noticed the space in his smile and asked if he was Eddie Brigati. He showed me his drivers license to prove it and I had a melt down. If I live to be 100 I'll never forget that moment.
The rascals were such a great group...one of my all time favorites. Some many great memories growing up as a musician in those days listening to these guys. In the many bands I was with at the time we could never find a singer who could cover Eddie's high harmony parts! Eddie, you are awesome! And Dino was such a great showman and fantastic drummer! They deserve their place in the R&R Hall of Fame! I still love these guys and their music to this day. They were a huge influence on so many of us. Thanks guys for the great music, and the great memories! Well done...
Just my down home boys ..who are special souls: they did not even know who they were/how sometimes Stardust just and the Gods smile upon. They deserve all the good/ and Universal Blessings. The Brigitti family..David and Eddie. They Our history. And personally. Just talented, spiritual, great guys.
I once met Eddie WAAAAYYYYY back around 1970, when I was a telephone repairman, and he walked into the apartment of a friend of his where I was working. I was totally floored as I recognized him right away! He was just the nicest, most unpretentious person you could ever meet! A memory I have always cherished!
Felix is the same exact way - very unpretentious. I met Fe in a chess club in Danbury, CT and we became friends. I love what Eddie said about even "the lowest person's opinion" is important. I was "the runt of the litter" in my family so I can really identify with that! LOL!
Well mopar man, I haven't seen Felix in years as he's in Nashville now, but when Felix played the Bottom Line back in the later 70s, Eddie was there with him backstage. And he used to come up to see Felix in Danbury, CT. I didn't think there was any falling out with them - at least not back then. Felix wrote their music and Eddie often the lyrics. Felix used to get a kick out of Eddie (who didn't right? LOL!) and told me about how awestruck he was when he heard "How Can I Be Sure" - They were havin' a hard time comin up with something and Eddie came up with that. Like WOW!
This is one gifted yet humble man here. These guys I thought were a black group for the longest when I first heard them on radio. When I saw them it blew me away. So much soul in their voices and music it’s just incredible and unforgettable really. What a time to have been young. If I had a time machine and could only go back to one period in my life, it would be this time period when we had all these incredible unforgettable groups, and all my loved ones were still here to boot!😊👍👍👍😊
Eddie, said, "there were no geniuses in the group". On that point he was wrong. Maybe not intended but many of the Rascals hits were hits for a reason. Unique and natural, their sound endures. One of my favorite bands to rise out of the sixties. Magic.
What a prince of a man and the best rock and roll front man of all time! So very lucky to have had a cup of coffee and breakfast with him in LV a few years ago. Thank you Eddie!
I met Eddie on Valentine's Day at a Doo Wop Concert in Red Bank...he was sitting right in front of me...We talked in between acts, what a great, humble man...I have be a fan of the Rascals since i head "Ain't gonna eat out my heart anymore'...My wife actually saw them when they were playing at 'The Barge"...will never forget that night
It's really sad to see these great guys getting old & remembering when they were kids.I'll always love the rascals & everyone played an important role to make this band great.I hope they realize this & hang their differences aside because life is too short for fussing & fighting.
With hearing Edde speak, You can see how He was the wordsmith of The Rascals.Never really gets the deserved appreciation.Seen these guys many times. All I can say " God Bless Dino"....
I knew a girl in high school who went to a wedding and met Eddie, but she didn't believe when he told her. He tried to convince her, but to no avail. When she got home, she looed closely at the Rascals LP and sure enough, she'd met Eddie Brigati.
The Rascals had a very unique sound in their music and interpretation. Felix & Eddie had the best voices ever. I used to play People Got To Be Free many times on my record player. ❤️🙏🏻
Edward Franklin Joseph Brigati, Jr. was my man with the Rascals. He once said "Find peace within yourself and live in the area of a good, progressive direction." I'll never forget. Love you, Eddie.
Just got home from the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, where the Rascals worked out their new Steve Van Zandt produced show. The highlight (for me at least) was Eddie's "How Can I Be Sure." The rest of the audience thought so too....got a huge pop.
what a tremendous group and the most under rated group of all time in my opinion. Ive seen one hit wonders get more press and attention than these guys
My favorite song of all time...How can I be sure...Crazy just read these guys are associated with Garfield, NJ. I married a guy in 1974 from Lodi, NJ. Love the Rascals 💕
I first saw them play at The Barge,Long Island just before they signed with Atlantic. My sister was dating Felix at the time.I was 14 .To this day she still speaks with Eddie.I last saw them at Criteria studios in Miami around '69.My sister called me and said the Rascals were there.I said "they don't know me".She said to go there and tell'em you're Nancy's brother. My friend and I went, were let in, saw Eddie and his brother David(back up vocals and road manager).Talked for a good time.Super nice, unforgetable!
Wonderful!! The music is so evocative for me and I have always been a huge fan of Eddie Brigati. I loved the interview but was surprised when Eddie said he was heartened by Ringo's popularity and figured he could make it too since they were both ugly. I always thought Eddie was gorgeous as did most girls and he sang like an angel. For me Eddie was the heart and soul of the Rascals.
Eddie & Ringo were and still are handsome, sexy great performers. Thank you both for all the great songs you made. I am and always will be a fan. All the very best to both of you.
eddie was the heatthrob of all the girls how ca i be sure one of the best pop ballads of all time they rivaled the beatles both a&b sides of their singles were awesome!!!
eddie is an unsung hero. a brilliant singer and songwriter. "how can i be sure" is a masterpiece. i hope he's happy now and still getting royalties. i wish the original rascals would do a tour.
The “ ORIGINAL “ Rascals were my absolute favorite band when they were big. In fact my friends and I were in a band in high school and we did a lot of Rascals covers as well as played a show with them in Newport, RI as well as meeting them on the Jamestown Ferry. It was sad to see them break up. Now Dino and Gene , a bass player/vocalist and an organist/vocalist (who looks like John Travolta w/out a wig) have continued on as The New Rascals. Sorry, but without Felix and Eddie they’re done.
Thanks so much for the answer .The Rascals probably more than any other band other than The Beatles conjure up memories of my childhood.I love them and saw them so many times. The bass playing on their records always blew me away and I knew that Gene doubled on Bass but also knew they used session guys , just wasn't sure who.Chuck Rainey is one if the very best. Thanks again!
I remember Eddie as a little girl walking me to Roosevelt school in Lodi. He called me "little one". Played music in my backyard. Would love to sing with him now!! Hearing his music brings back alot of great childhood memories!
I saw them when I was 13 years old. They were incredible. It was a huge show in those days with several acts that night. Those who were with them that I remember were B J Thomas, the Cool Jerks,The shondells, and many others. I knew at that moment that music was what I wanted to do.

Gene Cornish doubled on bass on most of the songs on the first three albums; after they became "The Rascals", they used a lot of session/soul players, such as Chuck Rainey.
I'm always curious as to why Eddie never got his teeth fixed. Serious question, not to be mean. We know that Freddie Mercury refused to have his teeth fixed because he was afraid it would affect his singing voice. I wonder if Eddie felt the same way.

I knew their manager sid bernstein & felix pretty well & found out that they split because of not getting along, mainly it was between felix & eddie & they could hardly finish people got to be free due to this because of the tension.Sad but true that eddie walked away from this wonderful act & the band split up.You & I could never comprehend this but that's how bad things really got. That's why eddie refused to even attend award ceremonies until someone talked him into it.what a shame that one of the best groups of the 60's wasted themselves into oblivion due to egos.

Love his singing of ' How Can I Be Sure'..
Great song.
Lots of emotion.
The story about the guy in the truck pulling up next to Eddie and singing is one of my favorite stories on RUclips. Great stuff.
What an amazing group of talented individuals whose creativity and inspiration payed off!
I have always liked the way he banged that tambourine. And singing "How can I be sure". I like their music. I was a child in the 60s and these people made me feel like I was on top of the world.
Can relate perfectly!

Is there something about New Jersey guys? I still know little about Jersey.
I love everything about Eddie Brigati! He's got the most beautiful voice, personality, and face.
Eddie, said, "there were no geniuses in the group". On that point he was wrong. Maybe not intended but many of the Rascals hits were hits for a reason. Unique and natural, their sound endures. One of my favorite bands to rise out of the sixties. Magic.

My favorite song of all time too.
There are several groups i only have one album by, this is one i wish i had more things by
Love ❤️ this Guy!( Artist among men of geniuses
Dino Danelli was the best drummer no one (but me) talks about!
I could not agree with you more! There is no one that compares to Dino ❤️
@@bernadetteh8470 John Densmore was one of my favorites about 55 years ago.
@@UfoDan100 The Doors drummer! Yes, he’s very awesome.
The Rascals were and always will be one of the best groups.
AMEN!
Under rated........amazing rock band...........they split too early!

Eddie is THE Rascal... he's also the most spiritual of the group. You can see and feel his connection with the Divine One when sings and moves.
He certainly was a "character" and ain't no doubt about it that that's something he also added to the band.
I loved his sense of humor!
I love his New Jersey dialect. I've met him on several occasions. He's such a sweet and great guy. Love 💘him!

I'm pretty sure his brother sang backup on a lot of their records and he also help arrange the harmonies and background vocals.
The Rascals have Their Sound. All songs memorable, most driving song to me, is “Come On Up”. All of ‘em!
eddie is an unsung hero. a brilliant singer and songwriter. "how can i be sure" is a masterpiece.
i hope he's happy now and still getting royalties. i wish the original rascals would do a tour.
YES INDEED! "How Can I Be Sure" is indeed a Masterpiece! And with Felix's keyboard work it just blows me away!
Eddie never got the fame he deserved, noone has a voice like Eddie..

The Rascals never had a bass player, like the Doors the keyboard player used the bass floor pedals for the bass. One of my favorite groups from the 60's, too bad all their decent live songs are gone from You tube. Guess someone got too greedy.
The song thaf was written on Martin Luther King's death I thought was done by Three Dob Night. Definitely getting my music straight, now.
Garfield, NJ
Has not changed much here since 67 still looked great..A bit Travolta Danza looking lol
Raw dynamite EXCITEMENT!
Robert Bales: Vox Continentals (like Ray Manzarek played) did not have floor pedals. You're thinking of Hammond organs. Manzarek played a Fender Keyboard Bass.
He reminds me of Freddie Mercury in a way
Does anybody know who played bass on the Rascals records?? The bass lines on their records is just awesome.
Gene Cornish on the 1st two albums. Chuck Rainey on the LPs Groovin and Once upon a Dream . Then on Freedom Suite Gerald Jemmott from King Curtis’s group and Chuck Rainey played bass…
" JERSEY BOYS " !!!
Anyone have contact details for Eddie..I lived in exile in NY as a South African political cartoonist and he was a great friend of mine with his brother David and girlfriend Susan who worked as a music teacher at a school in Montclair NJ.

Was Dino trying to emulate Paul McCartney? Seriously? lol
Yes I thought so as well, he was so transparent!
Hey, THey are touring now...DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!!!!
The Divine One?? Bette Midler?

I'm always curious as to why Eddie never got his teeth fixed. Serious question, not to be mean. We know that Freddie Mercury refused to have his teeth fixed because he was afraid it would affect his singing voice. I wonder if Eddie felt the same way.
Why does he seem to have no gap in his teeth in earlier photos, but since the 80s he has had gappy teeth?
All a part of the charm.

There is no way I would want to go through life with teeth like that when there is a way to fix them. That is not the way I would want to stand out. Ugliness? Really?
His singing and song writing is what made him stand out, not his ugly teeth.
Actually, he sings as he does, because of his teeth...fix them, and the tone goes away..same with Robin Gibb and others.
Bull shit. Your teeth have little to do with how well you sing, and getting them straightened would not affect his singing. If they fell out, then yes, that would affect his singing.
alan30189 certainly would affect his vocalist, only is articulation.
alan30189 probably the same reason Freddie Mercury never got his teeth fixed.
Eddie Brigatti....UGLY??
His humbleness shining through....
Not ugly, just bad teeth
Got more ass than everyone in the comments combined tho lol
Remember Eddie, tremendous talent with bad teeth, lol
Maybe that's why he could sing
