- When it comes down to the Home Run Contest, Roy is definitely our boy.
The full charged version of Roy's B move has greater knockback, but the angle at which the Sandbag is launched is steeper. This means that you will lose distance if you use the full charge; it is also why I recommend you releasing Roy's B move just before it's fully charged for best results.
(Of course, you're going to want to try to get Roy as close to the Sandbag as possible with his B move, as he deals more damage and knockback at the center of his sword rather than the tip; but this should be a given).
Two Roys aren't as efficient as Roy + Ganondorf. You need Ganondorf to deal more damage (Roy otherwise stops dealing damage to charge at about 4.15 seconds remaining). Landing Ganondorf's reverse Warlock Punch JUST BEFORE Roy's B move is CRITICAL to get maximum distance. If Ganondorf gets the last hit AFTER Roy's B move (with this strategy), you'll only get about 14,000-17,000 feet.
Perhaps the most difficult part of this video would be Ganondorf's final down-air and landing without kneeling. This allows you to instantly reverse Warlock Punch instead of lagging a few frames. Even then, you BARELY can hit the sandbag with the reverse Warlock Punch before Roy's B move (you can probably hardly tell the difference in this video, as it looks like that both characters hit it at the same time).

My headcanon is since there are so many day-night transitions, the audience leaves while scientists calculate the sandbag's trajectory and position, then at the time of landing the audience gathers at the right spot where it's supposed to land.
The most disgusting part about this is that it didn't even say new record at the end.

+vegeta sj Damage-to-distance ratio is exponential in Smash. It's not a 1-1 ratio.
That being said, the final hit also further differentiates how far you can hit the sandbag. The timing of releasing Roy's neutral B move just before it's climax so as to not knock the sandbag more vertical than desired, as well as making sure Ganondorf's neutral B move hits *before* Roy's neutral B move, etc...
There's a lot that goes into this sort of thing, though most are subtle.

Roy's b special fully charged, and even just partially charged has insane knockback, enough to the point where the damage to knockback ratio doesn't make much sense when compared to other characters.
Think like the recent cloud DLC. Cloud's finishing touch does only 1% damage but has ridiculous knockback and can kill as early as 60%.
Also if this was fake it wouldn't be so smooth, there would be hints/signs in the actual video that it was fake, and seeing as smash4 doesn't have any real hacks/mods to it on the wii u version that could modify damage/knockback(nintendo patches it too often) it's pretty safe to say it's not fake.
I mean hell the video creator even gave you a good description in the video explaining the properties of roy's b special and why this works, and you're welcome to try it provided you and a bro can actually get better coordinated like the two players here.

If this is like Melee, it doesn't matter with what part of the sword you hit Roy's Neutral B in terms of damage and knockback (I heard in fact the tipper was actually stronger, but never noticed that myself, if that's even the case). I assume you tested out the move's properties in Smash 4 when you wrote what you did in the description, although I'd like to still emphasize from what I said that this isn't as much of a given as you may have thought. ;P Some of his other moves also are better at the tip than the center (again, in Melee).
+RedHairdo That could still be the case. I didn't really test where the sandbag was hit in terms of his sword. I only tested the timing.
But there's definitely a difference in knockback based on when the move is released. Like, you'll hit the sandbag more horizontally if the move is released just before its most powerful moment. If you let it charge all the way, you'll knock the sandbag more vertically, which results in less distance (even though it does more damage).

I saw in another vid, with pracicly the same steps, and they did roughly 10 less damage. But the distacne difference here is roughly 4000 meters. LOL 10% FTW
