This is so great. Many people have no window into what it means to live with debilitating conditions, especially if the condition is invisible to them.

Adriana Hernandez we totally get you. It’s not an easy journey by any stretch of the imagination. We’re glad you’ve found us so maybe you won’t feel so alone in it. Every month we’ll discuss a theme and hopefully you’ll find some solace, inspiration and comfort in the sharing.

So very beautiful, I am so very proud of my daughter. She has been through so very much in her young life and living with this chronic condition is devastating, challenging and inspiring all at the same time. She is beautiful inside and out. She has a beautiful spirit that I can only hope to try to be as good a person as she is. I am so proud of her and I love her with all my heart. I pray the God will heal her and all the others in this film. And give each one grace and peace in this journey. God bless each of you.

This is a wonderful idea..."replacing my fear of death with love for existence", I love this. So many of the descriptions of nerve pain are part of my everyday reality as well. Does having 15 failed surgeries, DDD, PTSD. AA & more count as "unfixed"? Lol.
One of the 'good' things I say, that's come from what happened to me, is that I was able to have time to learn more about my country's history. There is so much we aren't taught & so much to learn.
I don't want to repeat our past mistakes and try to tell people about it, when I'm not trying to fight for pain care. I also taught myself meditation, out of desperation, and much to my surprise, found it can be helpful. This taught me not to be judgmental about alternative options when someone brings them up. Thank you for doing this and for helping bring attention to the many different patients and diseases in the world.

Indeed, I'd say you qualify as Unfixed. ;) Sounds like you've also had some silver linings and revelations that have come from doing the hard work of adaptation. I think many would agree that meditation, alternatives and finding ways to stay educated and compassionate through it all are key to still living good lives despite the pain.

@@UnfixedCommunity After being forced to inadequate amounts of pain meds by Worker's Comp, I've finally learned to realize how blessed my life has been and can accept my upcoming death with less depression and am actually looking forward to learning the answer to one of life's *biggest* questions!
I was finally able to settle with Worker's Comp after almost 3 years and am again allowed to get pain meds.
Once I'm tapered back up to an adequate dosage, I'll be able to go back to PT, chiro and myofascia release massage therapies and should get another 2.5-3 years of a much improved life...and won't have to spend 20 hrs a day in bed! Yay!
After that, the WComp settlement money will be used up and I'll have to go on Medicare which will refuse to pay for the dose I need for my intractable pain and I'll start being forced back all over again.
So, instead of that, I'll be choosing either physician assisted death in another country (not US) or will do it myself at home as a "rational suicide".
The meditation has helped a lot with the acceptance of realizing not wanting to live in such severe pain that I've been unable to shower or wash my hair in over three years, does not make me a selfish person.
Today is a good day, as I finally got my enough of an increase in meds that I'm able to leave the house and to get my hair washed!!! Very excited about this & it will do wonders for my self esteem!
      Next goal: a shower!😊
