  • Quick look at both the original and new version of the radios, interesting to note they share same flaw of AM broadcast mixing in SW signals

Looking forward to the comparison since I have the D808…

Bought the XHDATA D-109WB and am expecting it's delivery any day. The AM bleed onto SW is unfortunate for me as I am only a mile from a transmitter; other reviewers had reported better filtering in the WX compared to the original 109. I was also attracted by the 100 memories for MW (200 for SW!) and the wide range of bandwodth filters. I'd easily trade the Bluetooth for the ability to record broadcasts like my $20 Tivdio V-115.

Great video .....can the radio still play while the WB alert is set? Many radios with WB won't allow you to listen to stations while alerts are set.

For SWL I would need SSB. Unless it was the $11 XHDATA D-219.

Me too. The D 808 it is unles I have a new D 219. Which I have heard isn’t bad for something so very cheap.

This is a comment about the D808 but I think it will apply to other radios too. I only listen to SW on my D808 and the clock loses time gradually over a few weeks. Is it possible to have the radio time synchronized without tuning to FM occasionally?

I can never use the local FMs in my area because none of them use a single usable time. Each one is individually different, which is bizarre. I just set it to the WWV time. My phone is actually really close, within a second or so. Incidentally, I love going through the mediumwave band every so often and actually find interesting things still.

Gilles be glad you didn’t live in Chicago, IL where there are many 50,000 W Am (MW) stations located near each other.

I believe about six, aren’t there? Where I live there is only one. In the daytime then it’s two. And then they’re still pretty far away from me.

@@RJDA.Dakota I believe you are right, and most of them are located around the Loop near Downtown area. So far I only pick up 720 WGN, 780 WBBM and occasionally 890 WLS at my QTH in Tucson, Arizona. However, MW locator shows there are about 3 more, on 670, 1000 and one more which escapes me as I type this.
I am listening to 780 WBBM, because of the old radio shows right now, but am planning to buy the CC radio 3 for better quality reception soon.
      73! Have a great day!
