    Guitars sent to distributors (Long & McQuade for example) are able to acclimate to the region (hotter/colder) then get set-up and checked over. It's a great service and keeps up on the quality assurance. Buying and having the guitar shipped (climates are very different even within 500miles). So shipped guitars can have issues due to wood shrinking/expanding as it travels across countries.

    Span of Control is a FireService Term, but I'll use it in a different sense. As a creator having the product being distributed by someone else they have a team that can receive complaints/questions/tech questions that might be able to be handled at their level instead of the creator. Which saves the creator from having to have employees to handle these issues. Also, storage is another concern. Distributor has a warehouse that even if on relegating a small space for a creator it may be the size of that creators garage. Such a great topic, and a issue that effects creators at so many levels and differently
