    With freezers and cold weather, look for freezers or refrigerators listed as "garage ready" by the manufacturer. Those models can handle being in an unhealed space through the winter weather. They usually cast a little bit more, but can be worth it. If you're looking at a used or older unit, you can look the model number up and usually find the same information.

    We have been eating our greens from everything. I wish we had more this winter because I have been enjoying eating kale/chard/broccoli salads. We don't have a green house, and the plant lasted quite a long time under a double layer of pest barrier. I was so bummed to have to harvest my cabbages the other day.

      My fridge freezer is also messing up. We havnt had this cold of a winter in years here in fredericksburg va. My turkey and turkey broth are still solid frozen but the pizza bites and a few things were softening up more than I like. I do have a simple amazon fridge and freezer thermometer thay tells me what they are and my freezer says it's staying around 26 degrees ans the fridge is around 28-30. Really frustrating but managing it ok

    Sounded like the Rooster also gave his seal of approval.
    As far as the trees go in your greenhouse, I've heard that some fruit trees need a certain amount of Cold Night Hours to produce fruit, How might that affect the Bonfire Peach?
    Your Bok Choi is looking absolutely Yummy, and so does the Cabbages. Sorry, just random thoughts throughout the video.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  День назад +2

      Good question! Online it says they need 400 hours below 45° to set fruit, which I think we manage most years. Maybe more chill hours outside the greenhouse though! Do you happen to know as a GA resident if blossoms can come with no fruit set? I think they are putting on blossom buds right now.

    It was so funny to see Chloe root at that pumpkin, rolling it like a pro but looking for "how to get those tasty seeds and pulp"! I never knew the honeybee bump as a warning - Thank you! I researched the issue with your loose-leaf Brussel Sprout plant and two main issues that cause this apparently are the temperature is too warm for them or excess nitrogen. So, you were right I think to point out the excess nitrogen in the newer raised bed soil. One other thing mentioned regarding this is an unstable hybrid seed, which is rarer when seeds are obtained through seed retailers, but not impossible. I also enjoy how you explained how the soil possibly has too much nitrogen: The mulch and barky bits (that were tying up nitrogen) have completed breaking down, which frees up the nitrogen already in the soil and because you amended with a balanced fertilizer, any nitrogen from the fertilizer that wasn't used up by plants is now also present in the soil. If you have an at-home soil test kit, it would be entertaining to see "how high" is apparently too high for the different main nutrients. BTW - the most often recommendatio for balancing the excess nitrogen, besides planting heavy-feeding crops is actually to place "brown" mulches like leaves and straw in the top layer of soil and water more frequently to leach nitrogen deeper into the soil.
