Hi Jay, great review! Based on your impressions my suspicion is that they did not spend enough time / effort to optimize the speaker - the extremely low price does seem to support this assumption. Most likely it needs the tweeter level dropped, that is a classic beginners mistake for first time horn speaker makers. That would solve the ear bleeding issue, plus fix the lack of bass. Cheers, Janos
Hi Jay, nice to see a reviewer that’s prepared to say he doesn’t like a product and do the review anyway. Bad products should be called out. So thanks. I have purchased products from China hifi and I’m happy with my purchases that I’ve made. But these purchases where made only by reading, reviews and watching RUclips videos. Welcome back and I look forwards to more reviews on products from the east. Maybe you could look at why we pay so much more in the west than what locals pay for the same gear in China?
I was genuinely considering these last year as an upgrade to my rp500's to work with the Willsenton R8, Jay just saved me alot of money! Thank you lol.
The RP500 is an awful jackasspeaker as well like most Klipsch speakers. But, since Klipsch "takes care" of the reviewers, they are not going to say anything negative about it.
@@wa2368 it’s actually the better reviewed speaker and more balanced than the RP600.. been listening to audio products plus 20 years, I know what sounds good to my ear..
Was a bit hesitant to post a response, but here you go. I actually own these speakers for a year and I am quite happy. There are, however, some issues that can be considered as problems by some. The fact Jay indicates about the lack of base is very true, however, when the (quite crappy) crossover is replaced and an equalizer can be used for the input signal it handles bass very very well and I am quite sure it will go down to 28Hz (or at least enough for me, since I can feel the air and see the cone moving). The problem with mine was that there was some damage to the paint where the horn touches the cabinet, didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it to China so put a layer of olive wood veneer on it, and now they look even better. While the point Jay points out about true horns/compression drivers might be true, I think the solution they went for here works out very well and looks also a LOT better than Klipsch horns in my opinion. The next step will be changing the, probably also shit internal wires to OCC Copper, don't know if it will make a difference, but why not, in the rest of my cables it did.
So it's a decent cabinet, after you reveneered part of it, and the heart of the speaker, the crossover, is cheap crap. Next you can upgrade the drivers...sounds like an expensive speaker if it's that much work to make it sound decent, it's terrible value
Welcome back… Thanks for your honest opinion on this speaker. Not knocking it because it was made in China, but it “looked “ the part and someone may have put out a grand on them only to be disappointed. Not everything coming out of China is not good. Point and case with Denafrips and Halo are producing some great stuff.
Buy Decware.. I have owned Decware amps since 1998! They are unbelievably Good but low power, of course. Unless you go for the more expensive amps in their line!
Thanks for this review. Was intrigued by this model while browsing. Looked "interesting". Like you said, you don't know until you've tried. Thanks for this honest (and funny) review!
AHAHAHA!!! Emotional damage!!! OMFG I DIED!! Especially considering I just discovered that other youtuber a couple of days ago. Keep up the great videos!
Great to see you back Jay! I hope you’ve been well. Thanks for the honest review. Aren’t you being just a bit harsh with Tugen? Did he do something to piss you off? 😆 lol
Thanks for the frank discussion Every once in a while throwing a body out the door helps the credibility. The JBL 1600 HDI also has a metal dome tweeter in a horn like wave guide but isn't a horn. These are very nice speakers and your can pick them up fro about $1200 used. The new price just went from $1800 to $2k.
GR Research could fix these speakers.... don't give up hope now.....just think ahead to your new new speakers.....no res, good banana plugs , more and better caps etc... congratulations on your GR Research review, you maintained cool head and let Ole Chopper have at it.
Looks like another case of a Chinese company making something look the part, but putting little design engineering into the product. Sometimes such misfits can be modified to work fairly well, but usually it's a case of, "if you want to get to there, I wouldn't start from here"......
Another case? Engineering is China's strong suit if you have any know how of modern manufacturing. Most 'chinese' speakers for their domestic market are voiced for traditional chinese music which is heavily vocal based.
Welcome back 👍🏻😊. Maybe you can try the linn majik 140, they are for me the best speakers for years. And they are rocking 🤘🏻😝. I’am using this with a naim supernait.
Yo, Jay, I think i speak in the name of many other when I say this. Please make a tidal/spotify playlist with your best tracks to test gear on. That would be great. I'm subscribed for 4 months now, I think, so if you already made something like this, please let me know. Thanks and keep up the great content!
Good to see you back. Thanks for the review . What acoustic treatment are you using on your front wall now? Is it a lot better than the skyline style you had before?
Size not being everything .... please tell that to my exgf. Ha ha, Jay, this is probably your funniest review yet. Very informative; I really like the looks of these, but sounds like something I'd have to avoid.
Jay, I play RUclips on powered KEF computer speakers. Try it on your TV speakers and using a SPL meter, check the difference between the opening music and your audio. Is the Stradman mixing your audio to see what the maximum value that is possible for music.? And the REL 5 is really pumping.
You listed the JBL HDI-1600 in the description as some speakers that you compared these against, but I have not see you do an actual review of the JBL's. Do you have a review coming?
If Jay grew a beard, I might mistake him for Andrew Robinson in poor lighting. But if Tugen grew a beard, I would not mistake his voice for Mrs Robinson's. 😁
That camera movement is a filter, isn't it? It doesn't look natural. I dunno if you need to keep that on these.. the zoom in's and over clips are fun.. .. Nice to have a fun video back .. on a product that barely deserves looking into ..lol =) ... Cheers guys! PS - How do I join your gang? =D
Ommmmmmmm... 28'Hz! Just looking at them tells you 'no way' Maybe they managed to get a flicker on their meter at 28'Hz at minus 60'db ...due to a nearby passing subway train or siezmic tectonic plate resonance
I laughed for at least 30 seconds when you said size is not everything and then said being serious that came out wrong. LOL It was you being serious that made me laugh. LOL
If it’s such a crapshoot from track to track, it might be something to do with resonances getting fired up on certain frequencies. Instead of r&d, looks like their money was spent on appearance.
If you decide to throw them in the dumpster let me know. I can't see China HiFi wanting to pay the cost to return, especially since they won't be selling these in significant quantity after this review. The good, this may force them to spend $63 to improve future versions.
Had already written off SA speakers after GR Research examination of the SC8B. Poor design, bracing, resonances, bad spectral decay, etc. I dont think they are serious speaker makers. They seem to copy ideas of other speakers but poorly implement them.
I would have choosen the 8” version. A 10” two-way??… not gonna work!! Doesn’t work well even with JBLs. Sorry Jay, you should have know better buddy. 😉🙏🏼
This review is lol. Anyone who buys these speakers after watching this review deserves to have bad speakers. Or should I say... deserves to have more orange, kind of toy looking, kind of fake looking speakers.
Glad to see you back! I’m wondering why you even review this speaker if you really do not have much good to say about them. Particularly, when Klipsch has a superior product for less money.
Yo. I'm back
More frequently I hope 🙂
Glad to see new content in 2022. The intro was great and well edited :D
Hi Jay, great review! Based on your impressions my suspicion is that they did not spend enough time / effort to optimize the speaker - the extremely low price does seem to support this assumption. What's up bud welcome back
Hi Jay. I have been waiting for this Review! Also, please tell me what you think of the XiangSheng DAC-05BII… TY!! 🙏🏼
Audiophilia is a glorious hobby. I am very grateful to Jay, Guttenberg, Thomas and all the rest of the RUclips reviewers.

Do you have any notable loudspeakers to mention? I'm quite interested in this topic.
Dudddddde! I can't believe you reviewed them!! I remember asking you about these a while a go! Thank you for the content. It's appricated ❤️👍🏽

I am on the hunt for horn speaker for my R8 too. Just can't afford much over $1500.

Bass
Base
Two, different words
Two, different meanings

Appreciate the heads up..
Thanks Jay, hi camera guy..
nice to see a totally honest post. so many reviewers will only post positive reviews. refreshing to see something so candid.
Toxic relationship… That’s a good one Jay! 😃
well ,,,,, glad your ok ,i was starting to get worried lol, ohhh and i see you rocking a Decware Amp too!
Thanks for the review Jay. Wondering to hear for the review for a long time, now it came.... Thanks a lot.. Cheers!!!!
OMG you’ve got a ZMA. Jay love to hear your thoughts on Mr Steve Deckerts gear. I’ll be looking for that video for sure.
Buy Decware.. I have owned Decware amps since 1998! They are unbelievably Good but low power, of course. Unless you go for the more expensive amps in their line!
I’m on the wait list for a Tori V and ZP3 phono stage anniversary modded
Thanks for this review. Was intrigued by this model while browsing. Looked "interesting". Like you said, you don't know until you've tried. Thanks for this honest (and funny) review!
Dope review and welcome back.
OMG that emotional damage meme was GOLD
😆 lol
It’s all a long-friendship joke haha
Wow honesty. I respect you for it.

*#Jay** how does that compare to those ole George Massenburg/ Massenburg DesignWorks Speakers?*
GR Research could fix these speakers.... don't give up hope now.....just think ahead to your new new speakers.....no res, good banana plugs , more and better caps etc... congratulations on your GR Research review, you maintained cool head and let Ole Chopper have at it.
@Chanslor VALORUM You tried them, and they didn't improve the sound? Or are you going by what the Audio Science people said?
Looks like another case of a Chinese company making something look the part, but putting little design engineering into the product. Sometimes such misfits can be modified to work fairly well, but usually it's a case of, "if you want to get to there, I wouldn't start from here"......

Always searching for.... The Next Best Thing? Sorry I couldn't resist. Feeding the algorithm....
I have the sh8b and love them best sounding speaker I’ve heard
Welcome back 👍🏻😊. Maybe you can try the linn majik 140, they are for me the best speakers for years. And they are rocking 🤘🏻😝. I’am using this with a naim supernait.
But let’s see what Kristi thought…
bummer... they look spectacular... :(

Been curious about these...
I thought they looked OK too,
We owe Jay a pint...
but was is the point to order speakers from china?
Size not being everything .... please tell that to my exgf. Ha ha, Jay, this is probably your funniest review yet. Very informative; I really like the looks of these, but sounds like something I'd have to avoid.
jay what r your thought on buying speakers from alibaa?
Jay, I play RUclips on powered KEF computer speakers. Try it on your TV speakers and using a SPL meter, check the difference between the opening music and your audio. Is the Stradman mixing your audio to see what the maximum value that is possible for music.? And the REL 5 is really pumping.

Haha. I started to 'unpack' this and stopped!
100% Andrew and Kristi impersonation!
Will you tell us about the Lumina II you recently acquired? Just bought a pair. Lovely.
Klipsch is awesome
First time watcher. You're a piss'a 🤣. Subscribed 👍
Brave man buying anything from them. The R8 is the only thing I would touch. So hit and miss!!
Welcome back!
Hi Jay. Can you tell us more about the wall we're seeing behind the two speakers? 😅
Hey, Jay, curious about the decware, is it the ZMA? Can you believe the hype?
Can you make a speaker ranking Jay? Would be awesome!
LOL
Send them to GR research! I think that sets up both channels for some really interesting interplay.
Did you bring it off the back wall at least 1.5 mtrs?
Send them to Kristi she'll love the bright color.
😂😂😂 These speakers are not for ANYONE! LOL! Thanks for suffering for us, Jay. Nice sacrifice!!
Review on that Decware amp coming?
If it’s such a crapshoot from track to track, it might be something to do with resonances getting fired up on certain frequencies. Instead of r&d, looks like their money was spent on appearance.
I would call that ‘wave guide’…. Not even like a horn
where you got your Bench shirt?
A Denafrips Apollo review is on its way ...Size matters Heavyyyy :)
Size is not everything? You need to talk to my wife.
Try this paiyon P8 speaker cheap and sound good
why didn't you show us close up shots of the speakers? It would have been nice to see them but you almost didn't show them.
Bottom line sounds like it's a junk speaker
Did you really start by saying that Beatles recordings are badly produced?
Is that the Denafrips Apollo?!
28Hz and 91db should ring some alarm bells.
If you decide to throw them in the dumpster let me know. I can't see China HiFi wanting to pay the cost to return, especially since they won't be selling these in significant quantity after this review. The good, this may force them to spend $63 to improve future versions.
Beatles not well recorded ? a joke right ? many of their recordings wipe the floor with a lot of pop/rock recordings.
$880 ok. Shipping???
Gr reseach says these are junk?
When does the Decware Review drop? Haha
Fantastiše
Logo design needs REFRESHING.
If they sounded bad with that Denafrips Apollo amp, they have got to be subpar speakers... LOL.
Had already written off SA speakers after GR Research examination of the SC8B. Poor design, bracing, resonances, bad spectral decay, etc. I dont think they are serious speaker makers. They seem to copy ideas of other speakers but poorly implement them.
Send them to Danny Richie maybe he can “fix” it lol..
WhatsApp Jay?
Where's Thujin?
Well Jay, from what your saying they appear to be a pile of RUBBISH
Love your reviews, but this looked like a hostage tape :)
Emotional damage lol
I would have choosen the 8” version. A 10” two-way??… not gonna work!! Doesn’t work well even with JBLs. Sorry Jay, you should have know better buddy. 😉🙏🏼
Bigger Tannoys are 15'' two ways - I listen to a pair of Berkleys regularly, and they work! (I do understand your logic though...)
But the Tanniys are coaxial, high efficiency, paper cone drives and that does work. I agree.
sell my those
Looks like someone got a loawa
Ugh... so what's the point?!!!
Chinese counterfeits!!
Chinese made speaker look pretty but they sound awful
This review is lol. Anyone who buys these speakers after watching this review deserves to have bad speakers. Or should I say... deserves to have more orange, kind of toy looking, kind of fake looking speakers.
Glad to see you back! I’m wondering why you even review this speaker if you really do not have much good to say about them. Particularly, when Klipsch has a superior product for less money.
Because people wonder about them :)
Good point, its good to know what is good value and what to perhaps avoid.
Junk, but Loud. Just Barely Listenable. A Honking Horn in a Klipsh; no thank you.
So in other words, this loudspeaker is lame sauce…
Cheap Chinese junk always fails. Just leave it. But probably getting payed for this nonsense.
Poor engineering
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
