  • Did some fishing at the Credit River in the hopes of getting an early steelhead. Did not find any, but found some aggressive salmon willing to bite the spinner and had a great day overall. Caught on a Size 3 Silver Mepps

Great job but a friendly advice: when a huge fish like that is pulling drag you can gently apply some pressure on the reel with your hand to even put the pressure on your reel. You got really lucky to have landed both because it wasn’t a shaggy area. If there was a snag or even log in the water it would have been game over for you dude!

@@andrepond4470 I'm not sure if you were trolling me or actually misunderstand the regulations. When it says upstream of Old Base Line Road, it means above that road. That regulation also applies to single barbless hooks. I believe that they do that to protect smaller trout since they are more susceptible to damage from trebles and barbs? Also, they have signs posted with the regulations all over the park and say something like treble hooks are preferred (but not required). Tight lines!

@@SpinnerFisherman Not trolling, i've been told by tons of dudes that, also from reading the regulations myself, "upstream of old base line road" to me, is any area from old base line road until lake ontario, because that is all upstream area from old base line road. Also majority of the salmon breed in that area, and don't go much further, hence why i don't think trebles are allowed. Honestly some of the wording is pretty confusing in the regulations, my first year I thought bass opened "Saturday, June 4th" (didn't realize it was 4th saturday of june and that saturday being June 4th was just a coincidence), and it's always best to call the wild life people to make sure. I only use single-hook for salmon anyways, so only the dates affect me.
