that's awesome! done using a single piece of hardware and submitted as a video 👍👍👍 I certainly wasn't expecting something hip-hop inspired for the very first entry either!
Hey Max, this is what I came up with. I'm new to the Octatrack and this is my first ever hardware jam so be patient ;). Thanks for the sample pack and the challenge. It's much appreciated. I learned a lot in the past few days! ruclips.net/video/F1nbLpVuby0/видео.html
Speed of Kite yep! Same story here! You going to try it out? I dont think I’ll be able yet. I’m only able to get about 1.5 hours a week to work with it, so I’ll need some time. I’m hoping it’s an ongoing thing. I’m totally into it. If I didn’t have kids, it would consume me.
Here is a supplementary submission to my original submission which you can find below. I suggest watching it before watching this one. In this video I demonstrate how I made a vocal out of one of the samples by cross synthesizing a speech envelope and the chosen sample. ruclips.net/video/nejn2dcgZJY/видео.html
hey max marco, nice idea. maybe i will take part. anyway could you tell me how i can delete recordings on my octatrack? i cant find any way to do this. help plz. :)
what do you mean exactly by 'delete recordings'? Recording buffers are volatile memory so you can simply overwrite them with a new recording, or use function+clear in the recording setup menu to clear the buffer. Or do you want to clear sample slot associations (function+clear in sample slot list) or do you mean actually deleting saved files off your compact flash card? (use OT file manager or hook OT up to a computer in USB disk mode)
Hum, how recognisable the sample material needs to be in the resulting jam? I'll most likely load them in the OT, ER-301 and maybe the Blofeld. The way i work with lots of resampling and whatnot it could very well end up sounding very far from what the original audio sourcematerial sound like. I guess i'll dropbox the project files or something when done to give perspective. lol
feel free to make as unrecognizable as you like; in fact I heartily encourage it! Since there are no real prizes if someone 'cheats' in an attempt to gain an advantage they are really just cheating themselves. I'm not requiring that anyone show their methods/files but I certainly encourage it - if they are doing something I think is neat/cool and they give me the info to dig into what they are doing in order to help explain/demonstrate/educate that adds a lot of value and definitely increases the chances of being part of the 'finalists round'. Regardless, I'll be more than happy if people just toss soundcloud links my way though - the more the merrier!
@@maxmarco i think i'll do upload the project files and/or document the process a bit. It really is something that i'd to see alot from other participants as well. Especially the OT submission because everybody kinda use it in a different way and it's always inspiring to have a glimpse are other people's workflow. Thanks for making this happen man! :)
unfortunately using the R&M reference for the thumbnail didn't occur to me until I had everything else completed, otherwise I would have recorded my own version of a 'SHOW ME WHAT U GOT' sample for sure! I wouldn't want to actually sample from the show though, am not keen on illegally re-distributing copyrighted IP :)
that kind of exclusive approach puts up a lot of barriers to entry and requires much more investment for the participants. Depending on the response and number of entries submitted for this challenge I may consider more specific/restrictive challenges in the future but my natural inclination is to avoid any forms of 'gatekeeping' and attempt to make things as inclusive as possible. Personally I'm far more interested in artistic process and ingenuity than the use of specific equipment or software. The first entry to this challenge was done using a Teenage Engineering PO-33 and that made me quite happy to see!
I think you’re right. I know I would love to go to something like that, but most people would have no clue what it was. It wouldn’t make any money, which is the bottom line. I love this idea though. It took me a while to grasp that this isn’t about the octatrack. Although I’m hoping there are OT submissions, I know we can learn a lot from each other because there are countless ways to do this. The idea of constraining everyone to the same material was very smart. Props to you man.

@@maxmarco thanks, i found it. i put the recording puffer to zero.
@Shirley Knot hallo, it is: project, contoll, memory, reserve recordings -> set to none.

You should have made a sample of the '' SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT '' line the giant space faces says on some rick and morty episode haha ;)

can you please recommend an usb-midi-interface for machinedrum/mnm? tm-1 does not work with win8 for me
sorry, I'm not much help there as I've only used the DIN MIDI on my RME interface with C6 to do MD/MNM backups and transfers
@@maxmarco thanks for the reply
Hey Max! What do you think about Octafest, a festival with nothing but octatrack performances?
