Europe is proud of them as well. Absolute cinema of a series. Inspired is the best western jungler by far and I'm not sure if it's even contestable. Man is a damn genius.
It is not just the draft, it's playing something that is not comfortable for the Eastern teams, so they have to worry about different factors. Also the execution, macro and constant pressure where there for flyquest, GenG responded super well, as expected, but fly never stopped for a second, they where decisive and relentless. One of the best showings of league ever from a western team. They should be godamn proud, shame they won't go further, they could actually contend with BLG and T1.
Hard disagree. This team is getting so much glaze for no reason. It was a good run on FQ part but TL beating IG at MSI 2019 literal world champs. And 2018 C9 over AF was a 3-0 stomp. Not saying to not be proud of FQ they did awesome but I think it is getting blown out of proportion saying best NA run
to me it looks like eastern teams know how to play against meta and the common champions, but shit the bed when their opponents get creative and do stuff like seraphine mid. It can't be overlooked however, that flyquest was drafting amazingly, in game 1 at the end of 1st pick phase they had ashe and two flexpicks that were theme countering geng's champions. Geng had no information but were already at disadvantage. Thats just mind boggling.
I genuinely think that they would have beat lng, tes or even hle. This was arguably the unluckiest draw they could have had and yet they still performed. I truly hope this changes things for next year for the west. They should be inspired (pun intended) by this series and even the hle fly series. I think it also shows that lec need bo3 in regular season because I feel like it translates much better to bo5.
I wouldn't say the gap is closing like, at all. Sure, FLY performed way above expectations and while G2 didn't get out of Swiss, their overall year has been the most competitive the west has had since, ironically, 2020 G2 followed by 3 years of absolute void from both EU and NA. The problem is that those 2 teams are the only ones even remotely close to the East's level of play, just look at what our second and third seeds did, they got absolutely dumpstered, clowned on, one of them got eliminated in play-ins by a wildcard region while another got there with rookies galore and a 34% (?) winrate in regular season. If anything we should be relieved that we even have competitive first seeds when the rest of the west is what it is, and to be clear, it's abysmal.
yes i do think the gap is closing g2 should have beat blg as well until that baron throw which means that both eu and na 1st seed both almost knocked out the 2 best teams in the world up until this point in the year.
i dont see how the gap is closing, europe had only one good team for the past years and the name was g2 , NA isnt much better as well, hopefully 2025 things are better for the West
@@martinkaradjov6153 I do think compared to previous years it has a little in 2023 nrg got stomped 3-0 in quaters same in 2022 with rogue (rogue only made it out cos of tes bug) and in 2021 both western teams got stomped by the Eastern teams they were playing in quaters. Also at msi this year g2 swept tes and tl looked competitive against t1 apart from game 4.
@@martinkaradjov6153 To be fair, T1 and Dk looked very beatable coming into worlds and LPL seems more top heavy as well. Despite the individual progress of eastern players I think the best western players can somewhat matchup to them. There are a lot fewer westerners with high levels of skill but they exist on the good western teams and the rest of the gap can be made up with strategy and team identity. I believe before 2018, Koreans were playing a different game compared to the rest of the world as if they solved the game and knew things the rest of the world couldn’t know. It feels like western teams are starting catch up with the fundamentals and level up over the course of the tournaments. Another factor is the failing of superteams where it feels like teams that should win everything on paper just don’t. This is happening in every region but this added variance makes it easier for upsets to happen.
Nah, that was a mickey mouse run. They got destroyed the first time they played a good team in the KO stage. FLY took 2 games off the best team in the world.
And TL 2019 in MSI finals. But I do think HOW Flyquest played is so impressive compared to anything NA has done in the past since NA would pull out what seemed like fluke wins, then get 3-0ed right after. Idk about IEM 2015 though, didn’t watch that one but NA did win that tournament.
C9 didn't challenge the narrative with this level of innovation. And they didn't play like this against the best team itw at this point in time. C9s performance was great and all, but considering the fundamental problems regarding the East-West-gap rather an outlier than a part of the solution.

It was cool to see fiddlesticks, but it felt kinda troll because he can gank after he hits 6 which feels very slow against Chovy Smolder

Ever? Let's not forget C9 in 2018 beating Afreeca with Kiin at the te time, 3-0. I beliece they were the first seed from LCK.
@@ranolol they were 2nd seed
