Firstly. He did not disconnect fuel lines and importantly,, , plug them, secondly, you should remove the full housing, not just the cap, break it all apart, clean it, insert new filter, refill with clean fuel, fasten back up securely, reconnect lines, simples. This, IMO, is the hard way.
I tried this pre priming but didn’t do it long enough. for anyone who gets stuck. I ended up blowing compressed air in the tank while depressing the bleed to get the air out while pushing diesel through the system but next time
+Bjarke Andersen Hello +Bjarke Thanks for a few others have said the same ,it did work on the day for us,but if it fails to start the vacuum pipe works well as easy start in air intake works thanks for your time From Scott
This procedure does not work at all! I ended up finding the valve on the feed line to the pump and pressed the valve in to release the air trapped inside and then it started first pop. No sucking diesel through the lines with a vacuum like others have suggested. Hope this helps others and works as it did for me.
Never seen a diesel start so quickly after a new filter!
Some need vacum suction on the fuel line that goes back to the diesel tank. (The smallest pipe with a green clamp)
A hand vacuum brake bleeder pump works well on the return line if this fails
How long do I drain the diesel for? I filled my tank up full first, now it seems to be draining forever. Worried it’ll suck all my fuel up.
Thanks that was really helpful. Got to do it on mine soon. Liked.
