    You have a lovely family. Seeing you taste the food of my childhood and get the same reaction we do over here in the uk made me smile. Chips and chippy curry sauce is heaven, the sauce is a special flavour compared to proper curry but with chips it just works. Its just all comfort food for the winter months you tried, high calories to keep you warm.

    I nearly died when you poured cream over that sticky toffee pudding. It's normally served with vanilla ice cream or vanilla custard. But it IS delicious, isn't it? And chips with curry sauce, yummy, yummy - you've put me right in the mood for them. The sauce with bangers in mash is an onion gravy, so that was onions hanging from your fork, not gelatinised gravy, lol. So glad you happened across this pub on your side of the Pond. Even more glad it was such a good experience for you. It was a good experience for me watching you! God bless and hugs from Scotland xx

    Stick toffee pudding contains dates and is the best dessert most could wish for. The long pieces in the gravy were probably onions. In fact, sausage and mash is a must with onions in some form or another.

    They were good looking chips, the curry sauce we traditionally have with chips is a Chinese style curry, most people are usually confused that it doesn't taste like Indian curry which we're so famous for loving, the stringy bits in the gravy will be onions as it's common to have onion gravy with bangers and mash and I'm no a dessert person either but love sticky toffee pudding, but I'd be asking for double the amount of cream, you should try mushy peas if you haven't yet, we most commonly eat them with fish and chips, and in the North of the UK we like gravy and chips a lot too.

    Nice to see proper chips (fries for our US friend) that looked hand or machine cut (I worked in a chip shop for a little while) as opposed to the usualy compressed frozen things that many eateries in the UK use - I can see why they use them, but proper spuds cut by hand or machine have a much better texture and taste). My only criticism of the food was that the Scotch Egg was about 45s over cooked, in a hot/warm one, the yolk should be runny. For me with bangers and mash, I have baked beans (yes and gravy!) as I'm not a big fan of cooked peas (love them raw though, straight out of the pod). The food looked really good as a US take on British food, they have done some good research and should be applauded.

    Food prepared by someone who has vaguely heard about British food but otherwise has no idea. What pub would serve a sausage roll or Scotch egg as an appetiser, a dry steak pie with no gravy and chips with a lump of curry sauce? It's like ordering a burger, side, drink and dessert and being given a dry beefburger, 2 slices of white bread, a pasta salad, a glass of ranch dressing to drink and a waffle covered in chilli; all technically "American food" but just wrong.

    • @RighAlban
      @RighAlban 6 месяцев назад +3

      To me Scotch eggs and sausage rolls are a snack for lunch or a dinner if they're served with chips and beans, my biggest gripe was on the menu a scotch pie was 8.99, you can get four packs for £2 or a fresh cooked one for at most £1.30 from a good bakery like Aulds or Baynes, as a Scot I'd be personally offended if someone tried to charge me 8.99 for a pie, on top of that in the US they'd be expecting a 20% tip so a tenner for a pie? Folk have been stabbed for less of an affront 😂

    You can't experience true British food unless you're in Britain.

    You can’t have true British fish n chips in usa, so it will taste nothing like ours. Fish n chips comes from a chip shop not a pub.. pub chips are mostly frozen rubbish..

    There really is no `proper` way in the use of a knife and fork.
    I remember about 40 years ago we were sat down to a family meal at home and my mum said to my dad something like, " Steven ( that`s me ) uses his knife and fork so differently to they way you use them. He eats like Royalty eats." I`ve no idea where that came from - if it`s true.
    I`m as Royal as a broken down lift ( `elevator` ) that someone has left a fart in.
    Ps, that pub is nothing like an English / British pub. It`s more like a cafeteria. If you`ve not already been you should come along over here. It`s awful ! ( I jest ).

    This isn't British food, this is American food pretending to be British. British food is served in Britain.

      what a grumpy ass, surprised you dont have a union flag as your avatar , you cant get the range of sausages in the us , in the same way as in the uk , American food outlets are different because the EU dont allow most of the chemicals the us allow in the food chain

    Nothing british about this so called Pub. A real scotch egg doesn't just fall apart like that. And those chips looked like seagulls would reject them.the place just looked like an American diner, no carpet, zero comfort and No atmosphere at all.The only thing british is Musical youth,,, pass the dutchie playing in the background
