nicely done …no endless talking like some channels ….gets right to the point 💕
I would love to try this. I am supposed to eat 1200 calories daily while I am not as active in the gym as normal until my knee heals. Everything looks very tasty.
Not bad, all you need in there is some real Mediterranean protein. Eggs, cheese, liver, sardines.
Let me offer some substitutions for variety. I've lost 50 pounds on the Med diet. Instead of vinegar and oil dressing, I recommend lemon juice, oil and lemon zest. It's tasty. Instead of oatmeal for breakfast, I eat Greek yogurt with nuts, grapes, berries, clementines, a dash of maple syrup. Instead of pasta supper, have a glass of wine and a slice of cheese. The weight will fall off if you avoid pasta at night. I can lose 4 pounds a week just by manipulating supper to be earlier and lighter, and cut out all the damn snack breaks. Snacking all day raises insulin.
Lemon juice is really a good substitute for vinegar. I live in Greece and my family often swaps vinegar for lemon juice.
For sure I would replace all that oil and walnuts with a glass of wine
that is so smart.
Really appreciate your input.
@@peggymarie2524 I love the way you think! Sounds good to me!!!!
My meal plan is 1500 calories and I need more protein than what's in the video. I'm going to use these recipes as a base and just add proteins into each meal from there!! This is a perfect base for me. Thanks for making this!
Eggs and chicken
Add some Salmon/Tuna….
I guess you don’t know how much protein is in chickpeas
Yes everyone's calories are different tailor it to your calorie needs
people in general eat way more protein than they need its very hard to be protein deficent even if you dont eat meat
everything looked really good and easy
When you put the tomatoes and olives in that last dish it was making my jaw muscles clinch in anticipation of how savory/tangy it would be hahah looks good though!
Thankyou I love this
Oatmeal is not a common Meditteranean breakfast.
I just started with this way of eating a week ago for my blood pressure, although I would not mind losing some weight I am prediabetic. After just a few days my sugar went to 96!! My blood pressure did improve slightly but I slept last night that is amazing....... Thanks for sharing these recipes. I subbed and liked...
What does 96 mean?
Probably their glucose level
Are you still doing it? I'm about to give it a try. They say it helps with cognitive functioning too so I was curious if you've seen any improvement in that.
Way too much carb and sugar with the oatmeal, gnocchi, and dried apricots.
Doesn’t dried fruit have a lot of sugar?
Looks amazing thankyou
Mediterranean Diet is an excellent lifestyle, but no one should be aiming to eat only 1200 calorie diet. Unless you're a short and sederntary women and a calorie deficit, there's no way you get enough nutrients with just 1200, unless ofc done under supervision and supplements
I wish they had a list of ingredients
Mediterranean's typically eat meat, goat and lamb. They eat lots of fish, cheese, eggs and butter. Why does everyone think they are mostly plant based? They aren't.
I cannot speak for everyone. It's over generalizing without statistics to use that term for what people think about diets from such a vast region. In my travels, I haven't come across a home-grown vegetarian from that region, meaning if they were not eating animal meat, it was something they chose on their own, not a cultural religious diet. So I concur with you in-part. The "mostly" for me is that I have observed self control through portion control. I would say when people fill their plate, the biggest portions will be fresh-caught fish and fresh greens, and just a little chickpeas, rice pilaf, risotto, and potatoes. Parsley, lemons, cheeses, bread/pita,Olives, Olive Oil, and Wine provide variety to nearly every meal. Fish is big because the fish markets in the coastal cities are the common early morning stop to planning the daily meal. My friends from the Adriatic, Aegean, and Black Sea go to the butcher for specific animal cuts or sausages to make many tasty meals over the course of the week. The animal protein is not a big steak on a plate like in America, but rather the savory compliment to the greens and starches. Often I see even the smallest yard, patio, or balcony in that region has a garden. Meaning the portions can also be about what is seasonally available and a summer menu will be different from a winter menu. I'm glad you made the comment and I hope someone will try something new. My recommendation is to skip your normal Mediterranean restaurant and go find a north African, Tapas, Balkan, or Turkish restaurant. Hopefully the owners or chef are cooking food they grew up with in the seas that connect with the Med.
Not enough protein. Protein is more important than oil.
@@olgathehornyvampirevegan2413 but still not enough for daily protein intake
@@olgathehornyvampirevegan2413 Its ok, but you need 0.8-1.6 g protein/ kg . In this video i see maximum 25-30g protein. Its rly not much.
It looks like the most satisfying diet
Thank u.
This looks 😋
Can u give me the exacts...like one cup this..2 cuties..I saw that. I would like to have this for one of my meal prep weeks
I would love this food.
Look soooo delicious...
Yum!!!
You need to identify portion size.
That last dish looks amazing.
What is a good brand of olive oil and balsamic vinegar?
Nice.
Good video
The tomato artichoke and gnocchi recipe because I am the only one eating it. Would I be able to freeze the remainder of the recipe? Thank you!
That lunch salad would be a side salad for me. I like the idea but not enough food especially not enough protein to keep me satiated.
Isn’t there a lot of sugar in dried fruit?
I’d replace the gnocchi with salmon and vegetables
Great idea thanks
Why don't you just starve? No matter the kind of diet you have you should never go under 1200 calories.
In fact 1200 calories is already too low
What was the last ingredient in the last recipe?
Where are the portions numbers ?
I need more than salad for lunch to get me through. I’d add whole wheat toast and an apple.
right, it has like 10 chickpeas. it was mostly air from the salad leaves
@@quixotic7460 20 :)
Yep, toasted whole wheat with olive oil on it. Yum
Hunter is your friend. Drink water.

Thank you!
Beware- all of that olive oil adds up. They are quality calories no doubt, but if you are medically advised to be on a deficit you need to be aware of all the oil
The Cretans are the healthiest people on the planet and their food swims in olive oil.
@@johntate5050 it's actually dated information unfortunately they have joined the rest of the world and becoming very unhealthy. when the studies were done though they were also incredibly active people. modern times has changed that not a ton but they're not as healthy as they once were sadly. and they were also not trying to operate in a calorie deficit and lose weight I was pointing things out from a nutritionist standpoint.
@@fromchaosyogalenanovack695 That doesn't alter the fact that the authentic Cretan diet contained lots of olive oil.
@@fromchaosyogalenanovack695 The best heart scientists in the world agree that for a heart-healthy diet, the Mediterranean is the best since it keeps your Apolipoprotein B low. In that diet olive oil is very important and you can eat it without any worries. The traditional Mediterranean diet is high in fats (unsaturated vegetable fat - mostly from olives, but also nuts and seeds), moderate in carbohydrates, and a bit lower in protein. Olive oil is high in monounsaturated fats which has a powerful lowering effect on Apo B. The Mediterranean diet also gives you optimal fiber, which also lowers Apo B.
these look great but that lunch salad is so tiny
Love this and looks great, just wish there was some more protein!
Add your own ..to what ever feels right for you ….They don’t claim to be a dietitian…
No fish!
Since when is 1200 calories a day enough food for any adult? I'm a healthy whole foods, eater, so I don't do junk and I would have been very happy with all of these meals, but there's not enough food here.
Legumes as always being the protein is pretty caloric. You can replace that with chicken or fish. These are good ideas but you got to watch the sugar as well
I like everything, except knocchi should always be boiled first.
You can buy ready ones, which don't have to be boiled
Fantastic and useful video! Our channels match content-wise.
where's the beef? lol
Isn’t there protein in a Mediterranean diet?
Fiber nutritional dense whole foods plant based diet cover's everything is better than counting calories. Eat till almost full and don't over eat. We eat to much anyway. Eat Real food not to much mostly plants little or no meat as possible. Just a suggestion
Yummmmm!!
Where the protein
You know what I see? Who wants to eat 100% of what others think the med diet is? I saw yummy, healthy food that will help you lose weight fast! You are supposed to eat until you are full, then stop! which for most people doesn't happen! It's like people who say you are not i keto if you eat more than 20-30 grams of carbs! In reality, if you stuck to 100 or less, you would still lose weight, because before you started eating low carb you actually ate like 300-400 carbs a day! Get real people! Eating a plant based diet will not help you lose 10 lbs in 5 days, but it will help you lose 10 lbs a month! I would rather be losing at a steady slow rate and be healthy than try to conform to a keto diet that pisses you off in 3 days and is not sustainable!
Carbs...
Where is the chicken !!!!!!!!
Uuhhhm recipe measurements?
thats me bro they’re simple recipes, just wing it
1200 calories I thought would be 1 meal but 1200 all day? Phuck no thanks
1200 calories is not enough for a grown adult
If you’re not active, it’s fine.
Calories is a concept humans made up. Eat when you are hungry. Eat until you are full. Simple
For an inactive person or one going on a diet it's fine.
@@phillipsmom6252 inactivity is not suitable for a grown adult, or anyone really.
@@luci287yt if someone is physically disabled, they don’t have a choice.
Where's the seafood?
oatmeal is not eaten in the Mediterranean
1200. I eat 2.5x more than that to maintain a 185lb frame.
Sadness on a plate 🥗
Not much help without quantities
That's definitely more than 1200 calories
1200 calories is barely enough for a child let alone and adult
1200 is plenty for a sedentary, petite older woman, especially one who is trying to lose weight. It all depends on your body, your activity levels, and your goals.
I agree, 1200 is not enough for an adult. My functional doctor and nutritionist suggested 1800, to 2200 for weight loss.
It's good for people who want to lose weight and sedentary people would include office worker, teachers, goverment officer and clerk.
Lots of carbs and sugar
It’s not
That's less than 40grams of protein a day. Which is pretty low
Too low in protein...
How is one person supposed to eat all that entire gnocchi dish???
Probably serves more than one and portion in bowl is individual serving?
@@bethrivka68
That runs counter to the video’s title.
This is not typically Mediterranean......
Is oatmeal Mediterranean? Huh?
This doesn't represent the traditional Mediterranean diet. It is more like one of the "trendy" diets that occurs with the fashion of non fat gym girls.
What makes it not Mediterranean?
@@smk9320 Mediterraneans do not start the day with oatmeal. Salad comes with bigger portions in addition to the main dish. Plus, they eat fruits and nuts all day long, not as it is represented on the video.
@@coffeereader2519 I see. Thanks!
@@coffeereader2519 yes!
These a perfect Med diet meals. I don't know what you mean.. Just what I was looking for.
the music is a turn off. couldn't watch.
Where is the protein? This is a great way to be starving. Also, oatmeal is terrible for you...talk about glycemic rollercoaster. And 1200 calories is so not enough for the vast majority of ppl. If you're inactive you need to get active.
My Dr. told me to do this diet. I'm just worried about the extra calories from olive oil
Olive oil is a good fat. Your body needs healthy fats.
Think of it this way: it is not the number of calories you eat but the QUALITY of the calories. How nutrient-dense, unprocessed, and satisfying it is to eat those calories. 1 tsp of raw cane sugar is 400+ calories (has no nutrients and is empty calories), whereas 1 tbsp of olive oil averages about 120 calories, is unprocessed with no additives, and is satiating because it is a healthy fat. Kraft's Ranch dressing is 100 calories per serving but has a lot of additives and is very processed (added sodium).
Actually there are only 16 calories in a teaspoon of raw sugar
Actually they eat more EVOO in Greece/Southern Italy.
Not really Mediterranean
Your lunch salad is lacking greens. You showed very little.
My basic diet:
Breakfast: McDonald's sausage & egg McMuffin, Malteser McFlurry, diet coke
Snack: Twix, bag of prawn cocktail crisps, 6 Oreos, diet coke
Lunch: McDonalds quarter pounder, fries, McFlurry, diet coke
Dinner: McDonald's Mccrispy, nacho cheesy wedges, Twirl McFlurry, diet coke
Snack: Gummy bears, Snickers, diet coke
Supper: McDonalds bacon stack, fries, Mccafe, Twirl mcFlurry, gummy bears, diet coke
nice going everything in moderation.
This is a vegetarian diet, not a mediterranean diet. I say this because a real Mediterranean diet has a lot of sea food in it, this diet does not.
The term 'Mediterranean diet' is very generic. There ARE vegetarians in and around the Med you know.
You have a point
Isn’t all that gnocchi a lot of carbs? I’m trying not to become diabetic.
Very high sugar and low protein. A recipe for diabetes. No thanks.
😂😂😂 where’s the table sugar in these recipes? Not all carbs behave equally
I've tried for years (literally) to like oatmeal but I just gag every time I try. I won't tell you what the consistency reminds me of, because it's too gross but all the other recipes here look yummy and I'm going to try them all. I'll have to stick with avocado toast on Ezekiel grain bread for breakfast.😄
I'm like that with seaweed. I keep trying it over and over. 🤢
Mine is Quinoa! I just can’t handle the sight of it!
Try make overnight oats or just put the oatmeal uncooked in milk for like 15 min and just add berries, fruits, nuts whatever you like. You will not have this consistency of cooked oatmeal.
@@sveneriksson6410 excellent idea! This will be my last try of the dreaded oats. 😊
This is definitely not 1200 calories. This is less.
Sugar in the morning (strawberries) - no, sugar in the next meal (clementines) - sugar twice in a row - no, very low calorie lunch - no protein, won't run you long. Dried apriciots (sugar) plus walnuts - fruits or dried fruits are good for a p.m. snack, but dried fruits are better for a.m., as well as nuts - only a.m. - they rise your sugar level high with unpredictable time of getting back to normal. And finally, dinner consisting of veggies - good - and carbohydrates (gnocci) - not good, wrong. Carbohydrates are allowed in the morning (100 g) and may be allowed for lunch in less amount (like 50-70 g). Lunch and dinner should include protein and veggies. Breakfast should include protein, carbohydrates and veggies. This system is based on controlling sugar level and prevents insuline resistance.
Ah, oatmeal- your morning dose of glyphosate. So healthy..
buy organic
Oats are good for a horse.
Oats are good for people, too.
sorry but this is nothing. I would starve if I only ate this.
Not accurate. They don't eat oatmeal for breakfast in Southern Italy or Greece or Spain. They eat bread, usually with jam, or a hard biscuit, and coffee with milk. Sometimes plain yogurt with honey and fruit. No one snacks. This is healthier than the SAD but not by any means a traditional Mediterranean diet. Fail.
Who cares??? This video is obviously meant to show how to incorporate Mediterranean eating into a low-calorie style diet. Do you think the average person isn't going to want a snack?? Fuck outta here with your nonsense.
Dam that’s sum fire as food😍😂
1200 calories is NOT the Mediterranean way of eating, it is a fad diet. The Med way of eating is about abundance and love of good food, it may support healthy weight, but it's not about counting calories, carbs ,or any of that assorted BS. Yes, you can adapt to American ingredients. Go to Oldways if your an American who want info. Not this crap.
Yuck
This is ridiculous. Not even close to Mediterranean!
No, I don't buy this as healthy because of too many eating "events". It wouldn't be so bad if you combined the 1,200 calories into two separate meals confined to an eight hour period and then fast for sixteen hours. That would be much better for those of us trying to bring our Type 2 diabetes under control. I think this goes to show how knowledge about wise eating habits has progressed in the last two and a half years since this video was made.
PLEASE DO NOT EAT ONLY 1200 CALORIES PER DAY!!!! THATS THE NUTRITION RECCOMMENDATION OF A 3-YEAR OLD!! Even if you're 5'0 tall and never go to the gym, you HAVE TO EAT MORE THAN THAT
1200 cal will wreck ur metabolism
