- Alaska Airlines and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute today unveiled the world's largest king salmon. Stretching nearly 129 feet, the fish-themed design adorns one of the airline's Boeing 737-800. The 91,000 pound king will boldy promote the world's finest seafood as it flies on routes throughout the airlines network which spans from the Hawaiian Islands to Boston.
Wow the salmon livery is my most favorite livery for Alaska airlines this is awsome I love fish
I believe if you painted more animals (especially animals on the endangered list) that would attracted more customers especially children and adults that still have that inner-self child. I loved the Salmon design on the plane. As a retire employee of PSA and US Air I have enjoyed several flights on Alaskan Airlines and give them A+ on their customer service and creativity.
The real heroes in all this are the person who calculated the precise amount of each of those "over 125 colors" needed to complete the job, and the person who had to mix all that paint.
"Salmon-Thirty-Salmon" - Made My Day!
I absolutely love this aircraft! It's my favorite plane ever.

Beautiful!
Great art-design work!
Love it! Wish you wouldn’t kept this livery I preferred it to the now odd First People’s art style livery of the salmon… 😢
Good job😊
Amazing
I’m so bummed that this is getting repainted in a few days. I never did get to spot her.
I flew on this aircraft a number if times. I know because if the number

Gorgeous
Very
I thought it was a grey whale at first... Then when I saw the words "Wild Alaska Seafood" I had to take a second look! It's a salmon!!!
I flew on this exact plane from Anchorage to Cold Bay on October 31st, 2020.
It's one thing to see it in person, but as a Ramp Agent I got to go inside the cargo belly and unload it
Believe it or not, this painting is to remember a crash in midair between a fish and an airplane of the company.
Please tell us more!
Bondette 2020!!
If anyone should be riding this beauty, it's us! After all, we do create its "fishport"
How pretty amazing
Wow 😮 go fish 🐟
It's a flying fish!
Loooool they really made a plane that looks like a fish
*"Proudly all Boeing"* lmao
MISSING YOU 😌🗻🎇
son muy hermosos lo aviones
👍
Well done
Very well done
Boeing is kinda famous for their special paint jobs on 737 airplanes.
No longer has the same paint job sadly❤❤
I have a photo book and in it is a 737-500 or 600 Salmon-thirty-salmon.
wow
what route does it fly or is it all routes?
I'd need more acid if I saw THAT flying through the atmosphere 🤣🤣🥰👍
cool but why not paint one like the 727 golden nugget jet, totem, miner, husky, or towers? that would be neet and blast from the past
Would be interested to understand more about the fact that the airplane was offline for almost a month. Was there other work happening inside the plane that made the downtime more tolerable? Is that timeline on par with the time required for a standard repaint ?
Brian Gordon...Have you ever taken a look inside of a salmon? We have seen the exterior, ...Just wait until you view this planes Interior!! Surround Rib Cage. `😖 ✈️
Probably done during a c-check.
I feel like they should have painted it all the way up to the nose of the plane. Kinda set's my OCD off lol.
Totally agree!
Amazing.. but;
I wonder why do they paint the plane? What will do when they want to change the theme?!
Wraping with printed foil is more reasonable in my opinion.
737's top allowed speed is 490 knots or about 564 MPH. The printed foil would unpeal quickly, and probably gum up the engine, flaps, rudders, and stabilizers causing it to crash.
SuperPicasso, paint has a lot of advantages over a wrap on a plane. Aviation-rated vinyl exists and I have printed on it. (Greg, it's rated for a higher airspeed than a 737 can reach. It'll stay on the plane in flight.) It has three problems. The first is that it's expensive AF - about three times as expensive as 3M IJ180 cast vinyl for vehicle application, which is over $800 a roll - and a 737 would require about 20 rolls of it. Problem 2 is that washing the aircraft would rub the ink off. The third, and the reason I'd never recommend it for an airliner, is that it can't be laminated. You've seen vehicle wraps and how shiny they are. The shine is courtesy of gloss laminate. Aircraft vinyl is perforated so that any air trapped under the film can escape as the plane climbs - all wraps have air trapped under the film. If you laminated it you'd block all the air egress perforations. Aviation-rated film has a matte surface, so you'd have a very dull-looking airplane. The single-stage Imron paint they use on airplanes is quite glossy. By painting it you get a more durable, more attractive result.
I just saw the salmon thirty salmon in Charleston sc
I want to ride on that salmon!
We all do😄
It's so amazing to ride and to look over at the wing to see a fish fin
Rather than a costly paint scheme how about eliminating the last 2 rows of seats and make the bathrooms big enough for the elderly and disabled to use.
cool as HELL
I flew on a "seven-thirty-salmon" in November of 2009, but this one wasn't debuted until 2012. Does anyone know if the plane I flew on has been retired or not?
Idk but in the title this one is called "The salmon thirty salmon 2" so maybe you flew the first one...
@@testline9459 okay thank you. That's good to know.
@@seanpeters3690 no problem! I didn't expect you to respond so quickly considering your comment from a year ago lol
@@testline9459 haha yeah I have the same account. :)

Note the timeline though... Hmmn, what happened a year before that might have people worried about seafood?

✨ICONIC✨
Not entirely sure fish and airplanes go together lol
For this airplane it does😂
Comments are turned off for many Alaska airlines videos! They have made a mockery of " The Safety Dance " song. This song is about non conformity according to the guitarist of Men without hats! Wearing a mask is about domination and control of your life. Alaska Airlines be ashamed of yourself, and for turning off the comments!
Well, Alaska had to get legal permission from the the band to use their song in the ad in this way. So your comment makes no sense.
@@rj3615 This is not necessary true. Most record companies and artist s hold the copyrights to songs together if they are well established. Lesser artists unfortunately in many cases hold no copyrights whatsoever, but it's the record companies that do. The bottom line once again with this song by lead singer and songwriter of this song Ivan Doroschuk has stated many times this is a Anti establishment song ( look it up ). And Masks are establishment and conformity. So the facts clearly show that your argument is baseless and without merit. I wish you the best.
Cats on the ground follow this airplane around.
And bears!
Offline is Illegal
It looks cool. However, part way through the video I began to wonder about the amount of garbage generated by this. Then I saw the 60,000+ feet of masking tape. Jeez. 11+ MILES of tape that turns into garbage, not to mention all the paper, paint, etc.
Yep, and multiply it by a new paint job required every 7-10 years. Imagine the waste that's generated by painting a 777. All seems fair when in it comes to making impressions and cutsie YT videos, but it's all at the expense of our planet. People just don't seem to get it.
So that's what all of the excessive baggage fees are going towards.
They forgot to put the toxic leaching tumors on them ! All that fish is toxic
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
