Really was not a fan of the milk run flights on these combos jets however it did boast my segments on mvp plan. Lol. Had many flights from anchorage to deadhorse or Prude bay.
@@wizbangFLL They quit making them so they had to switch us to the full config planes (I live in Nome). They do offer cargo-only jets now, but they cut us down a flight a day so it really created a hardship for people wanting to travel outside the state or a day trip to Anchorage for medical or meetings. Their argument is that they technically offer more seats, which is true, but the flight schedule has definitely created financial hardships. A day trip turned into a three-day ordeal, with two nights at hotel.
Alaska Airlines is not Retiring Their 737-400 Combis, they still have them in their fleet www.alaskaair.com/content/travel-info/our-aircraft/737-400-combi
It would’ve been cool if the 737-800 was converted to a Combi, since the -400 and -800 are the same size. As opposed to replacing them with -700 freighters. Wish I got the chance to fly on the combi.

@@sebastianfloyd372 well that's strange considering a simple registration check shows them flying for cargo airlines in Asia and south America and even painted in their new companies colours...
I feel like the days when flying was an adventure are coming to an end. I feel combi aircraft symbolized that adventure
I remember fling in these planes as a kid whenever we flew from Cordova to Anchorage on 61. The end of an time
Grew up flying these between Juneau, Anchorage, and Bethel. Sad to see then go!
Brandon Bachman me to
Why did they retire them? Going "just cargo" flights?

Hey AS, cool video, but I have a small nitpick! The footage beginning at 00:34 or so shows a 737NG pylon and winglet.
Scorpio shut up
Scorpio of course you were going to say that and by the way you don't scare easily
0:34 that's not footage from a 400. Nice try Alaska
kentaro m yes it is ._.
kentaro m LOL WAIT NEVER MIND I SEE IT NOW 😂😂😂
The winglet!
Lol, I saw that every time!
At first I was like uh it is a 400 look at the title but than I saw the winglet of the 800 ohh you are right
One of my favorite airlines
2:12 I'm gonna miss that sound, those days when 737-400s used to be the leaders
The future is now
Make way for max 10s
The combi is one of the most efficient aircraft they can carry cargo and people sad to see them being retired
It's sad to see these aircraft go, I went on a 400 comp last year and it was really cool did the milk run from Ketchikan to Anchorage.

Replaced by Airbus A319-100, Airbus A320-200, Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo
We have the 737-700s now, and occasionally the 800/900 jets, but no Aurbuses yet.

Hope so, Air Chathams in NZ could be looking for 1 or 2 in the next few years to service the islands.

They'll probably use their BCF -700's. Alaska is converting some of their 700 fleet to cargo aircraft.
