    I got the charge controller back together, and It works. It did make some fumes after it started running, but I hope that was just the new components warming up. It ran 8 hours with 5-6 m/s wind and made 0,9 KW.

    Great to see a magnum 5 in the flesh, I can not believe what I'm seeing with that tesup tower, that would fail in a light breeze, when you look for a pipe get the thickest wall pipe you can find, sch 160 or xxs, with that diameter rotor it's going to put a serious load on a 50mm pipe. Also your blades, with that bolts sticking out proud from the surface, that's going to be seriously noisy, be better being flush, Also put on an emergency turbine stop switch which shorts out the phases to stop it if the controller packs in. Also balance the blade assembly and check tip spacings are equal, I made a balance jig from a bolt, some skateboard bearings and a 4x2

    You definitely need to add some bigger washers and nylocs or lock nuts, that things gonna shake like a Mackem in a maths test!!! Hope you get it working, my kit I received also has a faulty charge controller but no such luck, not even a response from them. Ive got to agree, this company is diabolical.

    I am having a horrible time getting a hold of this company. I have wanted to purchase something but need more help with my current set up, since I have an off the grid solar situation but it won't power my mini splits. I live fairly remotely and our town could really use this as a back up we get a lot of wind, and no one seems available to help. I would love to find out more if you can assist. Thanks!

    • @sustainableorange
      @sustainableorange  10 месяцев назад

      Honestly I would avoid. Istabreeze have an excellent kit that I wish I had purchased instead. I’ve had no power out of my turbines so far. Getting hold of them is a nightmare. Customer service is virtually non-existent & the products I have are very poorly designed and made of very cheap components.

      I have been struggling to get a safe and secure mount for the magnum 5. I’m hoping to have it up and running soon to test it over the winter and collect data, but the build quality has been very poor compared to other brands I’ve been looking at.

    • @robertgoy9367
      @robertgoy9367 11 месяцев назад +1

      after watching your vido i can see what you mean you where looking to use a scaffold tube but it was to small what about using a scaffold bar as a splint and use scaffold clamps to hold the two together that way you will still be useing there parts and not inpacting on the warranty @@sustainableorange

    • @sustainableorange
      @sustainableorange  11 месяцев назад

      @robertgoy9367 that’s the biggest issue, they mount they ship with the Magnum 5 that I was going to use is absolutely NOT safe or fit for purpose. I think I’m going to use an aluminium scaffold pole (which I have) and some steel cables to the 3 points or the tower to try to triangulate it as best I can. Fixing the pole to the tower shouldn’t be too bad either, but it’s a long job to switch out the atlas 4.0, I haven’t had time yet.

    Hi, looking to get there most recent VAWT Atlas 7. Any suggestions?

    • @sustainableorange
      @sustainableorange  Год назад

      Hi Nicholas, my advice is get a good anemometer first and data log the wind speeds at the exact location you are planning to put the turbine.
      My atlas 4 has not performed as expected before the unit failed unfortunately, and needed higher winds than advertised to get going for much more sustained periods.
      You need consistent wind for over a minute before any inverter will start generating power unfortunately, so gusty wind will not generate you much power at all.
      Data log the wind speeds before investing in any turbine. Make sure it will work in your use case.

      It’s still in the garage as I’m not happy with the mounting system. It’s not safe at all.
      Especially around cars, dogs and children.
      I think I have a solution but I need to swap out the broken atlas 4 still. At least I know my tower is safe up to 80mph winds.

      @johngroves1023 do NOT buy from them. I would recommend Istabreeze if you want something that might actually work.
