Descale Process and Tips for Delonghi Caffe Corso

- This is a quick video I threw together because I was searching for instructions and found it very hard to find them. There were a couple of other videos but neither showed how to actually descale and one gave tips which would end up damaging your machine in the long run by skipping the descale process.
Hope you like this since its my first instruction video I would love to hear your comments on how I could improve them or even videos you would like to see me cover.
Abba Abba mentioned in the comments that its a good idea to spill the first cup of coffee down the sink as it may taste bitter, from then on they are great.

Same - it really is temperamental- done the cycle several times now but only once properly it seems. It's finally happy so can stop drinking the instant!

Thank-you for making thus this video, I watch it every time I'm descaling my Corso machine, it's been a life saver. The only one thing I struggle with is the lack of light and it's difficult for me to see the exact buttons you are pressing. Apart from that Brilliant!. Thank-you so much.

Thank you Will. You are a life saver. I tried to descale my DeLonghi using machines instructions and got into a complete muddle. Fortunately I did wear rubber gloves as it did spill. Once I found your video it was doddle and I was able to do the descaling without problems. Your safety instructions are also most welcome. Thank you very much.

You saved me 200 quids, I was going to buy a new one as steamer was not working fully as well as the quantity of coffee had decreased. All it needed was descaling. Now its as good as new. Many thanks.

What I recommend is ,after descaling spill the first cup of coffee to the sink as it may taste a bit bitter,the next one will taste great,I’ve learned that during coffee training course.Thank you for the video,I love my Caffe Corso.

Hi I'm leaving a like as requested because I found your video very useful. I had already downloaded the pdf and just did my first ever descale. I thought I'd done things accordingly but it's nice and reassuring to watch a video and see someone else do it. I didn't think I'd need to do this much in Scotland with our soft water. But I hadn't used the machine in way over a year because the coffee always tasted very bitter. The woman on the helpline told me the first sign of coffee taste change will be a descale and that if I haven't used it in so long I should definitely do one.

Hmmm have you pulled the grinder out and given that a good clean with water and antibacterial wipes :)
If I don’t clean mine out very regularly it gets very mouldy.
The only other thing could be the beans :/
I buy the strength 4 ones from Aldi makes a good cup for me on full strength half cup setting :)

Really good video! This is the second time I descaled my coffee machine but I couldn’t remember how I did it last time. All I remember is that it was very difficult to understand how to do it, me being a very impatient person, I was a bit(more) pissed off I couldn’t find a good video that actually shows you the whole process! @@Lordie32 isn’t it amaizing that we have pur own coffee “shop” in our home? The smell of freshly grined coffee and the taste of it, ummmm, amaizing. I can’t get put of the house without my dose of coffee drug ❤️
That is so true. Brings back amazing memories for me. I live in a beautiful part of England but far from any big cities so coffee shops are not on every street corner :)
But back in the day I used to work in London and a latte on the way to work was my fix of the day.
Now it’s at home so easy snd that smell takes me back. Love it 🥰

A good video, just a little over the top with the safety gear. 😁 Oh and it's a steam wand control , not an espresso machine arm. Note there is no X in espresso! Anyway, still more useful than the manual, well done.

Ahhh ok it will always do that it is just cleaning the system. I hit out a cup under mine and pour it down the sink. It should so it when you turn it off too

Hello. Please help. I have done everything correctly apart from the step that the machine was not on before i put in the acid + water tank. So i turned it on and it did filter the first sip of water as usual it does whenever it is turned on. I am concerned that it took the acid+water combination and pumped the water from the tank. Could it be dangerous? I believe should get rid of the machine now. I am not sure if the coffee pipe is not ruined now because for the decalk process the Capuchino steam pipe is used. Please help
Im so sorry you have had a problem. The only thing I can think of is to run the descaling process again but just using water this time to make sure it’s all clear.
I would suggest that if that doesn’t work send a message to Delonghi customer support.

I ran the second round and within 2 mins the machine stopped making noise and there was no more water coming out of the steamer section. And the red light on the descaler is still on... Not sure what I have done wrong.

Am I missing something? I've tried to do this on my machine. But it runs until the water has run out, and still hasn't finished, and when I fill the tank back up, it resets it.
Hmm it shouldn’t reset but it should do two tanks of water. One with the descale stuff in and the other with just water to clear it out.
Good video thanks. The only problem with this machine I've found is it takes ages to be able to make a coffee after using the steamer. Don't suppose anyone knows a short cut for this 🤔🤔
steve chislett sorry I’ve not noticed a problem with this but then I don’t use the steamer often :/ I just drink my coffee black
steve chislett I was just playing with my machine. See if this works for you. So use the steamer then press the steam button again to turn it off then run a couple of seconds hot water through the steamer pipe by opening it from 0 to 1. Now you should be able to get an expresso right away

Hi, thanks for the video! I've done this three times in a row and the light to de scale still won't go off? Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks
If you have followed the instructions it sounds like your machine has an error. If it’s still making coffee well I would just diary to descale in another 12 months and forget the light.
It is my belief the light is set to come on after so many uses it doesn’t mean that your machine is full of lime scale.
I live in an area with very soft water so we don’t get much lime scale here but the light comes on regular as clockwork every 12 months or so.
This is just my opinion and not advice contact DeLonghi if in doubt.
