Matt Nathanson, I have two requests, one simple, and one maybe not so much. Easy...PLEASE make your T-shirts for women, FOR WOMEN! I am tiny, but with a certain blessing. Men’s T’s swallow most of me. Most of us would LOVE to have a T cut for us, with shorter, capped sleeves, and a V-neck or scooped-neck. Just saying! As a female US Navy Veteran, I find it increasingly difficult to tolerate the fact that there are a MULTITUDE of songs written about the American Soldier, and his/her sacrifices. There is, to my knowledge, not ONE song about US Navy Sailors, Pilots, Submariners (these boys are tough! Who wants to spend day and night UNDER the sea...never knowing if it is day or night (and ask about ”hot racking”), SEALs, or...Marines, who are under the command of the US Navy (surprised?). We spend up to HALF of our careers at Sea. Our Ships deploy in battle groups, not alone. Many types of ships are needed to protect not only our country, but any country who needs us, as well as transporting our SEALS to whichever hell, to fight whatever evil they are assigned. We also protect our WORLD’S shipping lanes. Our pilots are challenged by those from enemy or not so friendly other countries. They must land and pray their tailhook catches...look up the ”tailhook” scandal for a story of a different nature, it will give you and understanding of what we, the enlisted female Navy Veterans, endured. What those officers endured was more than likely understated. What we enlisted women, especially those tiny (cute 😁) women who are born warriors were faced with EVERY day. Those of us who had the nerve to be intelligent and go into a very specialized field like mine...not pretty. Speak up...it got worse, and that is hard to imagine! We have HOSPITAL ships! Please, if you won't, spread the word!!! All of these men and women are profoundly overlooked! Rock on!
This is my least favorite song on the album. Not just because it has a slight country flavor to it, which I don't mind. It's just that her nasally country-ish voice clashes with Matt's soft singer-songwriter voice. Not that it's bad, and I like the song. Just my least favorite on an album full of great songs.
