  • Today, we will be discussing the reasons and motivations behind non-canon compliant ships! Ranging from popular rarepairs to ships that skirt the line of being canon, let’s explore the world of non-canon ships!
I want to give a huge thank you to my wonderful and talented friend Plastic Knight for the adorable talksprites! You can check out his other works here: plasticknight....

I feel like these make them appealing:
-It allows me to use my imagination. With canon ships, even ones I like, I can pretty much consume the media itself to experience, and feel less of a need to come up with headcanons or the likes. Whereas for non canon ships, I love to let my headcanons and takes flow.
-In the case of characters having a less than ideal fate, it is a comforting way to give them a happy ending.
    -It’s fun. Plain and simple.

i think a shiver ran down my spine when you said homestuck afsgfjwjdkahdh
but wow another banger analysis!! it's so interesting that so much shipping seems to be character exploration/expansion or a desire to see characters be happy, and how they default to creating new relationships for that!!

As someone who hasn’t read homestuck, I believe that if the system they used actually is pretty interesting

Non-canon shipping is a life savior, but sometimes it just happens that I feel sad and devastated about the ship being non-canon or/and obscure even if I enjoy writing the possible interactions and dynamics. Sure it's not a big deal at all, but can restraining from looking at inspiration source help with handling such moments? It definitely doesn't help the case when your favorite ship has a ton of sweet nods and evidences in canon yet most of them are most likely done just for jokes

I think for me non canon ships are interesting for me. Because even though there are some canon ships I really like I can just consume the media I watch, play or read but because of that I find canon ships a little bit less interesting than non canon ones since there's so many that I like across fandoms like Mario's, Sonic's, Angry Birds or even Marvel's. Especially the more underrated ones that I feel deserve more fanart and fanfictions
