      Kyrie is a better shooter than Russ but Russ is a better passer & rebounder. Kd & Russ reached the finals & had the dubs on the ropes but I believe ego's got in the way, whereas Kyrie's ego got in the way after completing the mission!!!

      1 finals appearance and 4 wcfs isn't optimal?? If Russ doesn't tear his meniscus, they're going back to the finals. If KD doesn't break his foot, they're making another deep playoff run like they did their entire career together gtfoh. Kyrie, as the 2nd option to people outside of Lebron, has been pathetic

    They hit a lot of good points. Imo, Russ is clearly the better overall player in his prime. Kyrie is an amazing weapon, and I do believe he could be a 1B on a championship team. However, I agree, you'd have to go down a long list before Kyrie would be seen as the best player. As a second option, Kyrie's game is 100% more translatable, but we've seen Russ be a good second option as well ( 1 finals appearance and 4 WCF appearances). It would be more difficult to build a team around Russ, but we've seen him make the playoffs with practically every level of team (bad, good, great) and pretty much none of those teams were a perfect fit for him. If each player could have the perfect fitting team around them, I think Russ would be more successful, but its close.

    • @robertmiles1132

      Russ actually had alot of talent around him including a couple of the same star borderline stars in the game today kyrie had dion waiters the level of talent around the 2 was completely different levels not to mention okc was built around russ

    • @pimpinb11
      @pimpinb11 Год назад +5

      @@robertmiles1132 Nah OKC was built around KD, then when KD left, they tried to get him some help but it still wasn't a great fit ( PG and defense fr, lacked shooters). I think Houston was a great fit for him. That was some of his most efficient ball. Wirth Kyrie, he definitely came into a bad situation, but I look at what he's done since the Bron-led Cavs teams (not much due to injury and honestly just not being able to do much with what he has. For instance, I think Russ would've taken the 2019 Nets not only because of playstyle but he has the advantage when it was comes to durability).

    • @Sevion825
      @Sevion825 Год назад

      I don’t think Kyrie is a 1B. I think that only occurs in situations like KD teaming up with Steph. For example there’s no way that Paul George is the 1B, he’s just the 2.

      @@Sevion825 I should’ve said this: Kyrie is a 2, but I feel like at his best he could be a 1B. I believe 1B exists when it’s very close between two players. Russ definitely let PG be the 1st option in 2019 though.

  • @eulalawrence841
    @eulalawrence841 Год назад +13

    KD said it after he left OKC; Sam Presti didnt build the right team around him and Russ. The only other shooters the team had, besides KD, was Morrow and Waiters who were both inconsistent. People talk about them losing a 3-1 lead but more people should be talking about just how dominant KD and Russ were during those playoffs. Russ is an amazing second option, but it mainly depends on who the first option is. While Kyrie's game just fits much better as a second option, and we've seen him as a number one option which lead to no playoffs every single year. Also, we saw Kyrie play with KD as a second option, and they got swept in the first round.
    Personally I would take Russ over Kyrie anyday, but I can understand if someone chose Kyrie because of fit. If my number one option is LeBron I would say Kyrie, but if my number one is someone like KD or PG then without a question Russ is the pick.

      Russ is not a great 2nd option in OKC he was the number 1 option.
      Thats why he always had the ball on his hands and was taking the same ammount of shots than KD even if KD was the best player. The impressive thing is that KD was able to consistently give you 28 points on crazy efficency without spacing around him and Westbrook just throwing him the ball in ISO at the 3 point line with 10 seconds on the clock.
      Russ only plays Westbrook ball, doesnt matter if he is the best player or the 2nd or 3rd or worse player on the team. I prefer to build my offense around my best player, not the 2nd or 3rd.

He’s a ceiling raiser. But he’s unreliable. Besides 2016 and 17, he’s been off the floor more than he’s been on, or has largely disappointed in big series. He’s been a flash in a pan every year since 2017. Russ can be my number one or two and we know exactly what we are getting from him in the right situations and wrong situations. Both have their flaws but russ is the better talent. If just need someone to get buckets then kyrie is the man. But elsewhere russ is just a far more dynamic talent.
