I've posted a couple of comments in Part 2 of this video. I just double checked the drive in my CDRW900SL. They ARE the same Drive, exactly! I ordered a Panasonic 8124 like you did. It arrives in Two Days. MY drive has the SAME issues as YOUR OEM Teac Drive. I'm taking an educated guess AND Calculated Risk, and am going to attempt this same fix on MY Tascam! There are 2 more steps to doing this on the 900 than your 222. I WILL LET YOU KNOW!
I have a Tascam CC-222 that I'm having a problem with the tape deck. It will play, but it won't fast forward or rewind? Tried multiple tapes, all the same. I have taken the same tapes and put them in my car _(which still has a tape deck :-)_ and they rewind just fine. On the tascam, with the tape door open, I held the two little switches which makes it think there is a tape loaded, and I pushed rewind and fastforward. When the right "spindle" is turning, the counter on the LCD works, and it continues to spin. When I switch the other direction, the left spindle turns, but the counter doesn't change and then it kicks off. I'm pretty sure this is because the right spindle does the "counting"? In any case, I then load a tape and... nothing. Every time after a few seconds in either direction, no counting, and it kicks out like it came to the end of the tape. Yet I can play in both directions...?? Also at one point there was some distortion in the tape playing, like it was playing to slowly but also unevenly/not a consistent speed. But I don't know if it was the tape or the player. Could all of this be caused by the belt? Meaning it needs replaced?? Sorry for the long post. Thanks
@@ryanhallyyc Yeah I ordered the belt, the only place I could find one was from Full Compass audio. And they had to order it from Tascam apparently. But will get it in another week or so. Hope its not the motor... Is there more than one belt on these?? Thanks
@@Yhrim70 Hey there-- I have the same model as you do (CC-222) with the exact problem (FF and Rewind don't work but Play is fine) and I'm wondering if replacing the belt helped fix the problem with yours?
@@dadduorp Hi, yeah it did fix it. Actually I only got around finally taking it apart and fixing it a few weeks ago. Ended up taking a couple months or so just to get the belt. But yes it fixed the issues and works perfectly now in FF, RW, and playing in either direction. The original belt "looked" ok, but apparently had lost enough of its tension that it was causing it to slip. However, there are two belts but I was only able to replace one belt as I could not find the other belt in stock anywhere. So I ended up having to use a rubber band to replace the other one. It will work that way for a while, but we all know how rubber bands deteriorate. In any case, it works for now.
@@Yhrim70 I have replaced the small round belt that goes around the white wheels. I cannot figure out how to install the wide, flate belt around the black wheels. Any suggestions? thanks, John
I have the CC-222 MKII the deck is in immaculate condition, barely been out of the box. I have the same complaint about running and stopping and that it eats every tape any ideas as to what might be causing it to eat tapes?
@@DerekHundik I ended up buying a new old stock replacement because other drives with the same form factor ended up with only partial functionality. The cd drive wouldn't recognize a CDRW, and would only play a few cds. Hey, tough to say exactly what is going on but it sounds like it could be bad belts. try that first. Then, if it persists it could be a bad motor.

clean the rollers with rubber rejuvenator. might help. or replace them.
Nice unit. I have the CD-A580 that came out in 2018. Love everything about it. Just wish it had auto reverse on the cassette deck.
Cool I was considering getting that one too

@@ryanhallyyc Hello. I got exactly the same unit and CD slot not working. Would you like to help me out to make this working again.
