    World-traveling National Geographic photographer Robert Kincaid and Iowa housewife Francesca Johnson aren't looking to turn their lives upside down. Each is at a point in life where expectations are behind them. Yet four days after meeting, they wont want to lose the love they've found. Academy Award winners' Meryl Streep (earning her 10th Oscar nomination for this performance) and Clint Eastwood (who also produces and directs) bring blazing starpower and powerful conviction to the beloved characters of Robert James Waller's best seller of love, choice and consequence. With luck, a love like that happens to some of us sooner or later. For Robert and Francesca, it was later. And it was glorious.

    Sad they cut down the quote, the book puts it so beautifully.

    At first the part about children as adults did not convince me as a spectator, but now I have realized that it is essential to understand the core of the story: Francesca renounces her love only for them, for their children, for their family . This demonstrates a fortitude and a capacity of sacrifice unusual for love stories. Francesca demonstrates that love is not only "being with someone", but capable of feeling the passion for life and expressing it, feeling that there are things within oneself that have not been extinguished and that encourage us to move on. There are people in life who never feel it, whether they are alone or accompanied.

      I was an adult when my father decided to walk away with the love of his life. It destroyed my mother, she fell into deep depression, which eventually impacted us, the adult children, grandchildren very negatively. The decision he made based on his own un(happiness) destroyed relationships within the family which still, to these days haven't recovered yet.

    Some of us have had a great love, even more than one love, but that "certainty" is really rare. I'm not sure I ever truly had it! When love ends, through death or divorce, you tend to look back and wonder, sadly, if it ever really had that certainty.

    Beautiful movie - but in reality, if the girl decides to leave her family for the guy - it will probably not work. Breaking up a family is how they will start off their life together. How can that possibly work?
    She said it beautifully near the end - love has its own mysteries - the love she and Robert has will not survive if they gave it a chance, and the love that she shared with her husband will vanish if she left.
    What an incredible movie.

    I love this movie, on one hand. This is a story of a lifelong love. However, in another way, I wonder why she (Streep's character) would pursue him. I mean, it was going to end with heartbreak. Also, if her husband ever found out, he would be so very hurt. I mean, another man in his bed.

      +Darrell Jones Are you speaking you live this everyday bc you love a woman such as this story is about? Tis how I reflect this scene, to be fully satified with how Life is , To feel 1 has reached the peaks of allknowing love. I do hope this is which you have meaning of 'Living Everyday', Heres to A Beautiful Weekend

      I have a life with someone, been together long time, but the love has diminished to just friends, still a sort of love there but not ever what it was...and then I found love with someone one else who never made me feel like anything I have ever known,

    • @appalachiawomanwalkingswee3932
      @appalachiawomanwalkingswee3932 8 лет назад +1

      +Darrell Jones goes against every moral that I personally apply to my life but I have came to learn, Any1, can meet some1, that has better intent & possibilities of giving (NON MATERIAL) Something more meaningful than some1, whom has known ya for years. I too , am learning from some1, new that Theres a whole lota something good , Ive been amissing out on. Tis reson my orginal comment. sorry As I make not a lick a sense , as I am too caught up in a daze of Something that may not last my lifetime but something I shall never ever forget.

    • @darrelljones6544
      @darrelljones6544 8 лет назад +1

      I think you understand then. Yes, I have met someone outside my life with my partner, and we have been together many, many years...but I have not been happy for a long time, just going through the motions of living, I suppose. I didn't even realize I wasn't happy until I met this other person, and now I am caught between either hurting my partner, whom I do love, though it's more of a custodial love, and what I have with the person who has brought me happiness I have never known, experienced how deep love can be in the truest sense, awakened feelings in me, like Francesca felt in this movie...and I am torn between the security of a life I have known for years without much depth to the emotions or giving up this life for what I feel intensely now with this person, who loves me and whom I love beyond what I ever thought possible. This person has been through two bitter divorces, however, and knows the pain caused to the partner(s) and is reluctant to see that pain inflicted on my own partner despite what we feel for each other. It is an emotional upheaval inside that I conceal daily, and I live for the time I am with this other person. Like you, I do no know where it is going; all I know is I cannot give it up for what it has brought to my life. Thank you for your kind and wise words, and yes, you do make a lick of sense, I assure you!
