Catalina Island 2012, Featuring Aurora Hotel & Spa

We stayed on the island September 2012 for our 15 year anniversary. This was where we spent our honeymoon in 1997. The island has improved but some of the locals still lack hospitality. I'd like to thank the Aurora hotel for the attention we received during the planning to the island and our time there.

So glad I stumbled across this video. We are coming for a 5 days stay in May. My first trip was 25 yrs ago when I was 19! A lot has changed so it was nice to see this post. I will have to try one of those steak houses and it's good to know the Vons is at the end of the pier. I will be showing this to my husband tonight! Love how you kept getting your wife in the shot :)

We stayed at the Aurora Hotel. After seeing the other locations, we were glad we stayed there. One reason was because it was quite. No crowd traffic. All hotel rooms were small from what other guest were saying. Small meaning phone booth size.

Thank You Miranda! It was our second trip too. We didn't remember much about our first time. It can be expensive, but it was nice to get away. Have a great time.

I just love, love, love Catalina! It's close enough where it's not an inconvenience to get there, but just far enough away from the hustle bustle of LA. You get to take the Catalina Express over fro free on your birthday (normally about $75.00 round trip). When you get there, you can either walk around the island or rent a golf cart. There are a couple places that you can get a free hour when you rent for two hours- three hours is more than enough to explore the island. You can be laid back and just relax on the beach, or be adventurous and go on one of their many excursions. You can zip line, snorkel, parasail, kayak, paddle board.....and tons more. We just got back from our yearly vacation for my daughters birthday, but I'm already looking forward to going back for my birthday weekend!!!

As man made this is a beautifull island.
As natural catalina island in Dominican Rep.
The catalina in Dr is more beautiful witn white sand
And coconut trees and clear blue water

Wow, my husband and I got married and honeymooned on Catalina in September of 1997. You are right, a lot has changed. We just went back two weeks ago (making it 20 years later).
