That was completely new to me and very very interesting! Great research! Now it would be great to know how this hybrid watches work....very fascinating and I love my 262 kHz (comparing to a regular 32khz)quartz movement watches from Bulova and of course my Accutrons but my most accurate watch is my radio-controlled eco-drive watch from Casio....a watch one never has to care about, but mechanical watches just have More Soul..
A truly beautiful watch Che. And a very interesting look into the history of electric and quartz watches. I'd be extremely interested to see this watch being serviced, I can't quite fathom the combination of mechanics and electricity in the same watch!
Thanks, currently neither can I. As this one is so nice I am looking out for a ratty cheap one that I can make a guinea pig as a just in case, to practice on as I'm intrigued and this is new to me.
@@spidiq8 they're not that difficult but they have some weird things to keep in mind a non runner is great for a first, looking forward to see you work on one 😁
i learned a lot, thanks. I enter this rabbit hole because i want a tuning fork watch, but instead of Citizen Hisonic, i bought a Citizen accutron😅 Which could be worse, i could buy just any Bulova Accutron without tuning fork or mechaquartz
I fell in love with these watches and got a little too trigger happy on auction sites. Some of them are not working properly and it's really difficult finding service manuals for them. Does anyone have an idea where I can find them? Even in japanese is fine for me
A bit under a year in this case. Not as long as a quartz which makes sense as driving the balance is going to consume more energy than a quartz oscillator.
Thanks for the idea. Sadly I don't know anything about solar powered nor have experience with them. I'd need to dig into the details of them and get a hold of a few but I like the idea.

That's exactly how I feel. As interesting as they are and as the technology is I love mechanical movements.

@@Inkreptile it'll be interesting to see how much difference there is under the electronics.
Thank you for this video, I had no idea about pre SEIKO use of quartz technology.
What a nice white dial Seiko. Great video, keep up your great content!
Wow, love the dial the tech and the bracelet. Awesome
Thanks, it's a beauty of a watch isn't it.
I have a couple of videos servicing one if you want to see more detail on it.
@@spidiq8 that linen dial is so nice. I'll check them out. It's similar to the hamilton electric 'elvis' models movement wise.
Great video! Many thanks

Sadly not... But watch this space for a complete disassembly coming soon. 😉
Sir, thank you for your effor to share some history with us.
Please, can you share name and the author of the Seiko book?
The author is John Goodall and it was written by request of the Seiko Watch Corporation to bring more information to western speaking world.
@@spidiq8 Thanks
How long can the battery last?

Citizen Cosmotron is similar kind of a hybrid of electrical and mechanical technology.
It is yes. Also nice movements I'm told though I haven't worked on one
Bom dia
Obrigado pela lição de história horologica.

You're very welcome. I hope you enjoyed it.
I don’t think that’s a lightning bolt underneath the element symbol it is the symbol of the deny factory where it was produced
I actually say 'underneath the elnix logo is the Daini logo' 🙂
Yey I'm a magician ✨🧙♂️
Seiko, Citizen please make this again, but with solar power for us nit picky enthusiast. 😅

Good or bad; speaks volumes of the person who owned.
