Can the Trail Running Industry Afford to Sponsor Athletes?

Today on Bad Runners Take I look at the athlete sponsorship model within trail running and ask if it’s sustainable. Why?
Because I love the elite version of this sport more than most and want to contribute to the critical assessment of where it is in hopes of getting to contribute to the critical assessment of where it’s going.

I was an engineer, not an elite athlete; however, out of the gate, I made tons more money. Not ever famous but of more value to society.
