When flashy flash says “to get better you need to let go of your pride” I think he’s saying that you can’t get better if you already think you’re the best. When we’re first introduced to him we see that he already thinks he’s the fastest human alive, but then he has a rude awakening when he realizes that people like saitama and blast are faster than him. With this awakening he realizes he’s not the fastest and needs to get faster, and with that he develops the speed he has now.
I agree, ONE and Murata basically speaks to the reader here.

I absolutely loooove that shot of pre-monsterfied Empty Void, that's so clean and badass.
These are good short chapters, but what a shame, we didn't get to see Sonic's potential as a fighter and we lost the "serious sidehops", the only way for him to show off his skills to FF in order to show who's superior (clearly Flashy Flash lol)

I think what flashy flashy is saying that believing youre at the top can make you stangnant and you should aim for continuous growth, which is very saitama of him, because even though hes at his peak saitama lements that he cant grow in strength (which is that even true or is he always getting stronger?)

As it's stated in chapter 168, he's been always growing stronger but because there isn't anyone to challenge him, his growth stays unnoticed, probably by Saitama himself actually, because he didn't even bother to comment on his exponential growth. There is a chance he didn't even notice it lol

Flashy Flash undoubtedly the stronger of the 2 but Sonic has made huge improvements throughout the series. I'm glad they had their mini battle now rather than earlier ago otherwise FF would've deleted him lol

Maybe I thinking too much, but what if all this time spend with the ninjas is just the way of Murata to try and make them closer, more likeable to the people, because later on during the main fight or near by it , he may shock everybody by vanish one of them. Maybe Sonic will overcome his pride trying to save Flash from an attack of Void, and then the words of Flash in this chapter, and the chapters spend with them will make sense at the end.

I'm fine with whatever is released, the characters in the story are interesting and don't need Saitama to carry all the time. Also, Murata needs a break for the holidays like everyone else. Lets not be entitled and impatient nerds when it comes to OPM.
See, I disagree that the story has been redundant. The problem is the last 3 chapters together have been what was normally 1 chapter before.
Marata has been busy with other side projects and end of the year stuff so the chapters are shorter and by extension, feel drawn out. If the last 3 chapters happened in one read, I guarantee it would not feel redundant.
Used to admire the series for them not putting a filler.... But now...
Also why do they have to cut out Sonic in this... while he had more involvement and development in this chapter more than Flash... I dont like it...

What Flash was saying about Pride is the same lesson Vegeta eventually learned... You'll never get better if you hang on to the notion that you're somehow "entitled" to be better than others. Like Vegeta with his "Elite warrior" and "Prince of all Saiyans" hangup, the ninjas think their "ultimate training" makes them deserve to be better than all others. Flash let go of that and accepted that the only way to get better, is to accept that others already ARE better, and work your own way up.

Yeah, Mastar and Zhonin kind of miss the core of One punchman and take it too seriously focussing on fights and feats of power which i think One does not even think that deep about in a satire Gary Stu superhero spoof series. I have no idea what character development happened in this chapter or the jokes, all i learned was that Mastar did not like this chapter and thinks is a waste of time... No way Sonic will believe that Flashy Flash is much stronger then him for long after all he never learns from the Saitama beatdowns.

Hear me out, at some point just make Sonic have no fighting spirit to the point he is just lazy fighting but when he lazy fights that’s a new mode that transform him into a totally different fighter to the point where he is so nonchalantly strong, the more I type this the more this sounds like Saitama 😂 but back to what I was saying, he is just super strong when lazily fighting and he just start to get unpredictable and faster too, if you read Lookism it’s kinda like Zack Lee. But basically how there is a drunken fist, make a lazy non spirited but insanely strong and unpredictable person. His face gets droopy black eye lids and frowning. Its to cater to the Japanese audience . Japanese loves ninja and samurai battles. Murata will not cut the chapter easy just because some western geeks got bored already

It’s hard to criticize a series that has been so awesome and brought so many great moments so far. But I am with you, this current bit is kind of boring and nothing spectacular art wise or story wise is happening. For many series this would be fine. For a series like this it is out of place. Hopefully it picks up and goes somewhere soon.

I think the fight felt longer because the chapters were shorter.
If the chapters were their "normal" size or the size they usually are before the holiday period (20+ pages) then the fight might have concluded in 1 chapter if not 2 max.

Okay, we know most of us are really waiting for the Chapter about Saitama, Blast vs. Void. But let's not diss this chapter just because Flash or Sonic are way weaker than Saitama, or maybe because their story is less entertaining, or maybe because they are less important characters.
Let's just appreciate Murata's work with his great panels again, and give Flash and Sonic a moment of spotlight for the sake of connecting the dots, the same way as we give appreciations to King's story.

I believe the focus on Sonic in both the Manga & Webcomic are hinting that Sonic could potentially be a god avatar. Knowing that his old friend Flashy Flash is stronger than him and also that he can never match Saitama would probably draw him to accepting gods powers like how Garou did. He did have the thought to take the demonification fruit and even ate it so he is prone to take such measures to get stronger. Also, the line yhat Flashy Flash says about pride, might also link to this as Sonic would need ro accept thay he's not strong enough and forgo his pride by accepting gods power. Just a theory!

Isn’t Sonic a girl in the manga?
I understand people are hungry for what comes next in the one punch man manga with Saitama & Blast, but I really don’t mind the extra time we’re spending on the other characters like Flashy Flash and Sonic. I mean I’m pretty sure everybody understands that besides the comedy and absurdity, what makes One Punch Man so great are the characters and world around Saitama and getting to witness everybody’s growth with the inspiration and impact that Saitama has on them and the world. So how about we turn off our dumb monkey saiyan brains that only crave big Saitama punch for dinner and try savoring our moments with the characters we get more time with which is clearly meant to build up Flash and Sonic’s friendship/relationship which will obviously pay off and be more impactful when things happen in the future
