Why we love twister pins : Pin action is better It’s life lasts longer than the average wood pins Why we hate twister pins : It slides It isn’t even made out of wood
We have been using the n.p.s deck treatment which has helped a lot, far less pins sliding around like on ice . I will admit the twister pins might last longer but the sooner we get back to old pins the better.
My favourite bowling bin. Yes it does have a strange sound to it, and unfortunately yes apparently it slides along the deck like unless a player bowls hard. So imagine if the pins inventor understood there are people that hate the twister pin and decided to invent a new edition to it, one that is stillreally strong, logo still lasered on, but actually sounds a little similar to wooden pins, and also easily falls over if pushed, I bet you’d still hate them
I love the Twister Bowling Pins, I have no idea why one of they just slides around on the pin deck, but they at least last ages especially the logo. But although you don't seem to like them at least there is something to bowl with
I got to bowl with twister pins for the first time yesterday, and your right they suck, we left a lot of off spot pins, 10 pins, and 4 pins all day long. In order to get a strike you have to hit light on the head pin or go dead flush, or else it will either be the 4 pin or the 10 pin, not mention the pin carry is garbage. Yeah I'd rather prefer wood pins.
they seem to get better with age but not much, try some pin deck treatment, this sounds daft but we mop decks with dirty water and allow to dry, it makes for a tackyier surface,
If you can't adjust it's not the pins fault, minus the sliding. The sliding can easily be fixed by NPS pindeck treatment or no-slide spots you put on the pindeck. The latter works very well for me. We got Twisters this summer, and all our bowlers average is the same on Twisters as before, I've even increased my average here a fair bit.
That's common with twisters. Usually people need to play using less entry angle and smoother shapes with them. It's a different pin carry meta-game than traditional plastic-shelled wood pins that are seen in most centers. They are VERY scoreable, but ONLY if you get your shape through the pins correct, because they fly like crazy. But people who just say "tWiStEr pInS SuCk bEcAuSe i cAn't cArRy"? Variables come into play here. The old surlyn covered wood vs. composite synthetic is always a factor. Phenolic pin deck surface vs. wood or synthetic. Stripped deck surface vs. oil carry down. The texture of the base of Twisters vs. other pins. Finally, of course, the center of gravity & internal void location of the woods compared to that of the Twisters. Personally prefer the wood pins over the Twisters. Do completely understand the economical & financial advantages of bowling alleys opting to go with the Twisters.
And Brunswick in pba the 8 pin slide to the 7pin and still standing because it hit a pin preventing it from falling it doesn't happen much often with sliding Brunswick bowling pins
A few years ago, with Twisters, slid the 4-Pin all the way across the deck. It slid to the right between the 6-Pin & 10-Pin spots without toppling. Proceeded, with the spare conversion, to bounce the pin out of the pit. The pin landed & rested back right over on it's original 4-Pin spot. 2 memorable shots!
Interesting point! Don't recall ever seeing Twisters on national television during any P.B.A. event? Seems to be predominantly Brunswick Max pins observed at P.B.A. events? Could be wrong?
My first time bowling on twisters, caused the pinsetter to have an out of range cycle (the twister pin slid between the holes of the setting table so it couldn’t pick the standing pins up)
I absolutely love Twisters. Have had the same pins (mostly) for over 4 years. They fly truer and increase carry. Of course, we have a Flex Walker with the Pin Deck treatment that makes the deck a bit tacky to stop sliding pins (mostly). It took a full season for most of my bowlers to get adjusted to sound and action and once they saw their carry increase, it was glorious. These things FLY. Do to these pins being harder than the ball and the bellies staying (mostly) without denting, they fly upwards not backwards. This allows the pins to hit more at the top where it is easier to knock over pins. Sure the sound is different, but hearing dead wood on a lane and having to dig through a set of 23 pins during league when all the lanes are running to find the dead pin blows more. Wood breaks, inside and out, most of the pin damage I have seen on Twisters has been machine caused. You'll be finding more of these bad boys behind machines after a competitive Men's league for sure! Oh, and the carry is great. Sure you'll leave more 4's or 9's as a righty, but those are easier to pick up than a 10 all day. This increases averages across the house. Love em.
You know what, just buy Pinnacle Pins, those are the high end wood pins Edit: or just buy Ultra Strike Maker Pins, those are the same brand as Kegel and most Brunswick GS Centers use those.
I don't own the place and don't have a job now thanks to covid, the owners have several Ally's and tried these pins in here just as a trial, it will be the last. Thanks for comment.bye.

Seems like those twister pins will be much harder to get a strike because they slide a lot and you won't get a lot of pin action. Seems like they are coming out with things to hinder you from getting High games. as long as they continue to put more technology in these bowling balls that should offset what these pins are doing.
