  • Tag along as I attend to the morning farm chores on a crisp November morning.
At Boots to Roots Heritage Farm we raise a number of heritage breed animals for both the continuation of the lines as well as for consumption. We believe in being ethical omnivores which to me means that we provide the absolute BEST life we can for all of our animals... from the chickens and quails to the pigs to the horses. We do however specialize in raising KuneKune pigs for both high end meat as well as providing exceptional lines of registered stock for sale as well.
My name is Duskin and my husband Travis and I are both active duty military members (although he is retiring this year). We did not grow up in agriculture. In fact we learned most of what we know through RUclips! Last year we bought a 150 year old farm house, sight unseen and moved from the West Coast to Frederick County, MD dragging along a menagerie of animals of children. ;)
We began our farming journey in June of 2020 and haven't looked back. Our path thus far has included so many lessons learned that I can't even begin to list them off but it has been the best year of our lives. We hope to encourage others who are hesitant about taking the leap to follow our successes and failures through this channel. Maybe seeing our journey will help you make the jump into yours!!
