Drivers have been fighting for detention since trucking was established in the 1930s.... We fight not only the shipper or receiver but also the broker who sometimes gets detention paid to tgem but never passes it on to the carrier, driver.. Safe travels guys

@@garyw8481 Gary, I wasn’t addressing you. Why do you have to come on here and make some kind of comment like that? You can’t tell me in freight trucking everything goes peachy keen every day it doesn’t happen.
40 years ago, I started trucking hauling produce from Salinas, California to Huntspoint, New York. It’s sad that things have not changed in 40 years. Seems like the truckers always get screwed.😢
Well your absolutely right Alice. The reefer industry is a mess. If a truck has an appointment for 11:00 then get the truck loaded. If not start paying by the hour. Oh if the company is short staffed that day then that company fixes that problem or pays for the waiting unit. The driver or O/O always pays the price for all the screw ups of the company’s they load and unload at. One of the reasons why reefer is not always the best freight to run. have you called brokers lately? most won’t negotiate on retention or layover, too many trucks out there that don’t care. It’s hard enough to squeeze an extra $300 on loads these days
So at 16:45, dashboard says it’s 1:40am but it’s middle of day by what you’re saying so is your truck clock that far off? And…one of your best videos that shows what you have to deal with as a driver!
I have 2 clocks, the one on the dash is that far off because batteries had died at some point and I never bothered to set it again. The one on the “info display” and tablet show correct time so it’s not a big deal to me to go to the effort to set the dash one
Yep, the sucky side of trucking, no compensation for tying up our equipment for hours while waiting for shippers or receivers to take care of their products. I run a reefer and a flatbed, really prefer flatbed but reefer freight in my area pays a little better right now, but haaaate the bs with door swinging!
Oh, CHUTE!! You got the wrong title this time.😂 Wait times like that really are stupid!! You could have fit in a whole extra load in the time you just say around.
I might have misunderstood but it was my understanding that ever since the mandatory e-logs the shippers/receivers are obliged to pay detention after 2 hours past appointment time ? greetings from Canada. (oh, and I also noticed in the past that often the facility actually DOES pay detention but it is not paid forward to the driver/carrier).
Refer loads has always been a wait and wait and wait. Don't know why you get an appointment when they don't unload you. Refer loads should get more money for loads because of the waiting periods. It cost money waiting to be unloaded. Refer is running and truck too for many and you can't book another load until your empty. Thats why they need to pay more money for detention that way they have a motive to get trucks unloaded.
no I don’t want a Green APU. I have a perfectly fine Chrome APU that cost $17,500 less than the green one, it just needs Martin to finish hooking it up.

One word of advice. I never open the doors until I’m ready to bump the dock. Product temperature can give them another excuse for load refusal.
Costco delivery wasn’t a refrigerated load so didn’t matter

Baked Beans. I forgot.
Do they want the loads to get out or do they just look for excuses not to load you.

@@TruckingTogetherok..thanks…and did you see my addendum complimenting you?
nope I missed that - thanks John!
Hurry up and wait.
Alice, sorry you had day, but on a more positive note enjoy your taco-time.
I would put a COMMENT ON FACEBOOK 🤷🏼 but it won’t matter Terrible 👍❤️☮️💪🏻✌️
Oh, CHUTE!! You got the wrong title this time.😂 Wait times like that really are stupid!! You could have fit in a whole extra load in the time you just say around.
Yes ma'am there seems to be a lot of that language barrier thing these days were ever ya go and don't push number one 😂
Martin you beat Beth company in the ground. How dare you
Oh shoot not the chute! Shit, chute is loose ,shoot!
I sat more pulling a reefer than i did pulling over-sized freight
You forgot to mention that they make you pay lumpers to unload their shit.
I don't use the Streakin Beacon anymore. So many mom and pop places charge less and do better
Everybodys excuse short staffed, where did everyone go.Is there some glorious place to work i havent heard of.
ya Bush’s Baked Beans in Augusta WI, that place was amazing to load at
The unemployment rate is low so anyone who wants to work can get a job. All the boomers are retiring too.
@@margaretbutler9528 there sure not wanting the ones unloaden trucks
Refer loads has always been a wait and wait and wait. Don't know why you get an appointment when they don't unload you. Refer loads should get more money for loads because of the waiting periods. It cost money waiting to be unloaded. Refer is running and truck too for many and you can't book another load until your empty. Thats why they need to pay more money for detention that way they have a motive to get trucks unloaded.
Do you have a APU on that truck by the steps on the driver side?
At lease they were talking to you. You still don't want a Green A.P.U.? 🥵
no I don’t want a Green APU. I have a perfectly fine Chrome APU that cost $17,500 less than the green one, it just needs Martin to finish hooking it up.
@@TruckingTogether That's good you shouldn't go without one on the road.
Ridiculous that they want a $400 fee if you are late, but won't pay detention if they can't get you loaded within 2 hours of your appointment time.
Did one of the a/c hoses have a leak down to the gloves ? Always something peculiar.
turned out to be a gallon of water, never found its leak but the gallon was empty the next day and I hadnt even touched it myself
Wow , its been 20 yrs since I pulled a reefer and its still a shitshow !
