I appreciate Alex’s enthusiasm, but I don’t see how OPR, MEER, Marine Cloud Brightening or any other similar solution could happen under this capitalist system where most people seem to be allergic to the simple ideas that actually work. It’s going to take a total shift in the way we do everything before people will pay attention. And meanwhile we’re rapidly running out of time. I hope something does suddenly happen though. I thought last summer would make people wake up. The current winter heatwave isn’t making people wake up. Maybe this summer finally will when we probably get another 40 degree Celsius day in the UK. But I really struggle to imagine it.
