    I think dressers are one of the most versatile pieces of furniture, I have one in almost every room in my house. It is such great storage for cutlery, linens, toys, clothes, shoes, hats, scarves, mittens, plates, candles…
    I also get a “high” from re decorating, even if it’s not moving furniture, but rearranging nick-baca, or books, I love pretty things, and I love to see them, and sometimes to really enjoy them they need to rotate shelves or rooms.

    The dining table cut down to a coffee table is great advice. I had a small scrubbed pine dining table I bought second hand cheap but had always wanted a large substantial coffee table. A cheap handsaw and a sander later and I had one. Small dining tables can be thrifted much cheaper than large coffee tables.

  • @c.m.4686
    @c.m.4686 2 года назад +19

    I'm glad you mentioned measuring and cutting VERY carefully the legs on tables before cutting them down to make coffee tables. You get one wrong and all of a sudden your table is two inches off the floor, kind of like the way my self-cut bangs tend to get very short by always trying to even one side, then the other side, then the other, etc.

    Yes to the rearranging the furniture and decor! Even when i was living in my parents house i would switch the position of the bed and “borrow” decor from other rooms in the house and spice things up haha. Love the feeling u get when u literally move like 1 thing and maybe to someone else it looks exactly the same - but u know that the scale was slightly off or whatever and now its complete. Then i start thinking about why i didnt do it like that in the first place and how the people i just had over saw the shittier version of whatever i had like a psycho when litterally nobody cares but me lol

    Yes. I get high off decor. I do that, too. The whole staring at a new acquisition thing. The thinking about it, dreaming about it, getting up and moving it to a spot and then staring at it. Walking past it needlessly just to admire it. Taking pics of it to admire it. Or just spending days moving it from here to there until that high hits. Just today … I’ve been so unhappy with my bed and my bedding. Been annoying me. But I just bought sheets and I don’t know WHY I don’t like them. Anyhow, I dug around, found some things deep in the linen closet I had forgotten about and moved a blanket that has lived on my couch for seriously over a decade .. I dunno. It just always lived on the couch. I tossed it on the bed. BAM!!! Design high. I keep sneaking upstairs to sneak a peek at it. It’s totally a thing: getting high.

    I rearrange rooms frequently, the rush I get is incomparable to anything else. I recently did a little diy with a shelving piece in the entrance; it was awkward, small and narrow, the proportions with the mirror were off and the color didn't go well. So I bought a longer shelf to glue it on top and I painted everyting black. Et voila! A beautiful console was born.

Or you take the real masking tape (for painting walls), put it on the doorsides (2 Strips side by side for wider doors) and then paint that, but hear you would need to be careful to not paint over the sides :-)

    I love all your videos and this one has really inspired me, especially the simple rearranging! Only think I'd say; your video is really quiet. Thank you for sharing these ideas! ❤️

    I just got my first house and I've totally sat in my living room and stared at it, especially when I added a new chair and later a new picture (from Goodwill) 😂.

    YES, its a thing getting satisfaction from a visual change. That is why so many Before and After shows, pictures ect are floating around. Heck people love the hoarder show for the "after"..extreme grossing out followed by "ahh, there its fixed"

    Yes I do also move things around in Airbnbs (even hotel rooms if I can ) If something feels off I have to change it to enjoy my stay and same as you I leave it or move it back depending on the situation.!

    Sometimes I’ll be dissatisfied with a space for months, and then one day an idea will come to me that gets me ‘high’ and changes the space completely. In hindsight the solution always seems so obvious but until I actually think of it I just have to stare and wait

    I used to have an old dining table as a desk and do NOT recommend it. Dining tables and desks have different heights (usually about 8-12 cm in difference) which makes ergonomic working impossible! Even an office chair will not save your back if you work long hours from home.
