So it gives you allot more weight to what your saying.

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” Matthew 5:4.
We make covenants to deny ourselves of all ungodliness and break that covenant by sinning. Which is where repentance comes in. We are constantly starting over and renewing covenants and working on our weaknesses little by little. Line upon line, precept upon precept

Grace isn't a transaction, you just have to accept what is being given to you. After having been comforted by God and freed from the bondage of sin, then you will do good works from a charitable and sincere heart. You don't do the good works IN ORDER to have a charitable and sincere heart, nor IN ORDER to be freed from the bondage of sin. You do the good works ONLY because you feel love for others.

Evangelicals use quotes from Mormon sources to try and paint a picture of an "impossible gospel"
Question: Do Mormon scriptures portray an "impossible gospel" in which nobody can be saved?
A recent approach that Evangelicals have taken in preaching to Mormons is to use quotes from LDS sources to try and paint a picture of an "impossible gospel" that doesn't save anyone from their sins
A recent popular approach that Evangelicals have taken in preaching to Mormons is to use quotes from LDS sources to try and paint a picture of an "impossible gospel" that doesn't save anyone from their sins. They argue that various passages in LDS scriptures and comments from LDS leaders indicate that salvation is only attainable if we keep all of the commandments and forsake all sin. Since nobody does that, the argument goes, Mormonism is a gospel in which nobody can logically be saved.
Latter-day Saint leaders make it clear that we cannot achieve perfection in this life
    Neal A. Maxwell:
In a kingdom where perfection is an eventual expectation, our feelings of anxiety and inadequacy should not surprise us. Just as earlier disciples were anxious and even "astonished" as Jesus taught certain demanding doctrines (Mark 10:28), so today there is really no way present prophets can describe where we must yet go without creating a sense of distance. We are not merely journeying next door or even across town. - Neal A. Maxwell, Notwithstanding My Weakness (Salt Lake City, Utah: Deseret Book Company, 1981), 1
    Neal A. Maxwell:
Some may still say, "I know I am not doing all I could, so how could what I am doing be enough?" Ah, but that is not the real question. The real question is, "Why should I desire more than to perform the work to which I have been called?" (Alma 29:6.) That is the question-for a mother, son, home teacher, Young Woman's leader, elders quorum president, or neighbor. The task is, therefore, to perform in one's callings. On that score each of us should seek to do more. But it is not another task we should seek! [ Neal A. Maxwell, We Will Prove Them Herewith (Salt Lake City, Utah: Deseret Book, 1982), 53.
Non-LDS Christian Stephen H. Webb: Joseph Smith does not reject the efficacy or necessity of grace
    Non-LDS Christian Stephen H. Webb wrote:[1]
Two corrections of common misrepresentations of Smith’s theology need to be made at this point. First, Mormons are often charged with denying the efficacy of grace and thus making salvation dependent upon the exercise of the individual’s free will. All theologians use the language of effort, reform, and growth, so this is not a fair charge.... In any case, Smith describes the process of sanctification as being “from grace to grace.” Rather than replicating Pelagianism, Smith is siding with that aspect of the Christian tradition best represented by Thomas Aquinas, which says we can and must cooperate with divine grace in order to permit it to actualize our potential for divinization. [2]:96-97
Question: Is it impossible to receive the grace of Jesus Christ so long as we are sinning?
We can be cleansed of our sins through Jesus Christ, and thereby be capable of being saved
Critics interpret Alma 11:37 to mean that we cannot receive the grace of Jesus Christ so long as we are sinning. Since we are all sinners, according to their argument, this would mean that nobody can receive the grace of Jesus Christ.
Critics misuse this text by misinterpreting the word "saved" to mean something it does not. Amulek taught that we cannot be saved (enter into God's kingdom) in our sins. He then taught that we can be cleansed of our sins through Jesus Christ, and thereby be capable of being saved (entering into God's kingdom).
This passage comes in the context of a debate that Amulek, a Nephite minister and companion of Alma, is having with a lawyer named Zeezrom. Zeezrom first tempts Amulek with money if Amulek will deny the existence of a "Supreme Being". Amulek refuses, and Zeezrom continues with various questions about God and his purpose with mankind.
At one point in their discussion Zeezrom asks the following question to Alma (Alma 11:34):
34 And Zeezrom said again: Shall he save his people in their sins? And Amulek answered and said unto him: I say unto you he shall not, for it is impossible for him to deny his word.
Later, in verse 37 Amulek makes it clear that he interprets Zeezrom's question to be whether a person can enter into heaven if they still are burdened down by sin. Amulek equates "saved" with "inherit the kingdom of heaven" in this passage. So, a person cannot be "saved", or, enter into God's kingdom, if they have not somehow been cleansed from their sins.
    Alma 11:37 reads:
37 And I say unto you again that he cannot save them in their sins; for I cannot deny his word, and he hath said that no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore, how can ye be saved, except ye inherit the kingdom of heaven? Therefore, ye cannot be saved in your sins.
Critics misinterpret the word "saved" in this passage by reading it through their fundamentalistic Protestant lenses. They assume that "saved" refers to the cleansing act of Christ's atonement. Thus, when they read this passage they interpret it to mean that a person cannot be cleansed by Christ's atonement so long as they are committing sin.
But that is not what the term "saved" means in Alma 11:37, as Amulek makes clear. Amulek has in mind the entering into God's kingdom. Nobody can enter into God's kingdom if they are burdened by the effects of sin. Something must be done in order to remove that taint. Amulek explains how in verse 40 (Alma 11:40):
40 And he shall come into the world to redeem his people; and he shall take upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name; and these are they that shall have eternal life, and salvation cometh to none else.
To enter into God's kingdom, or "eternal life", one must first be cleansed of transgression by believing on the name of Jesus Christ. That is the gospel of the LDS Church.

What an amazing framework, very well done! Using the logic of the mormon framework to condemn the mormon framework. Bravo.
I went church hopping with a friend who was tired of his small evangelical congregation. He attended my church (Mormon) and we visited about 10 or so churches. He independently had discussions with the Mormon missionaries. When I approached him openly and without judgment, he said Mormonism had some intriguing claims, but the book Miracle of Forgiveness was something he could not accept. In his opinion, it did not reflect the understanding of God he wanted to worship.
Honestly, I read good books, so I have never read the Miracle of Forgiveness. I understand its overall themes and bullet points, but when I tried reading it, it was like "meh"...
My only feedback is the abstraction of your evangelical framework based on the "infallible bible" and the Pauline gospel. Which, in my opinion, is not the gospel of Yeshua. By grace alone (Pauline misinterpretation of Habakkuk scripture, see James Tabor "Lost in Translation") is in juxtaposition to the words in the Epistle of Jacob (misnamed James) regarding the scales of justice and good works.
I enjoyed very much your sharing of the Moroni and 2 Nephi scriptures. These themes don't fit in context of the larger work, and they always did not sit well with me. YES, I can believe the Mormon doctrine and institutions are baffling and confusing AND that Joseph Smith brought forth an ancient record. Sadly, Joseph Smith was persuaded by those around him to "translate" it based on their philosophies. Oliver Cowdery did some minor work, which scholars like Royal Skousen have identified. What is avoided altogether is the doctrinal contributions injected into the Ancient Record by Sidney Rigdon.
Great efforts were made to obfuscate Sidney's relationship until after the publication. But if you study his worldviews as a Red Society Baptist and later a Campellite who had a strong belief in "infant salvation through grace" and re-read Moroni, you can see this doctrine laced throughout.
My conclusion is that everything baffling seems to be a direct editorialization of an ancient text to market the product to the people of the day. And Sidney was very proud of his successes, if you read the limited salvaged sermons we have of his.
Similarly, when there is a strange transition in the book, and a sermon is included, I think "oh, here is likely another Sidney insertion" ...
Naphtali, a name I would pronounce Nafi (nah-fee) but commonly referred to as Nephi would not recognize the Mormon doctrine or church. Nor would he recognize any form of Christian doctrine or church. That is my point. You don't think Luther introjected his ideas in his proposed doctrines, or King James with his bible that changed the Epistle of Jacob inappropriately and removed all mentions of the word stem "tyrant". Of the Nicene Creed nearly 300 years after the Messiah Death Event. So my challenge to you is this: can you take in abstraction your logic and be introspective in your evangelical gospel and its flaws?
Once you get on the train of seeking truth, wherever it will take you, only then are you free to explore the nature of God that you worship. Does your God say condescendingly (like a Roman editor would assume): I come to lay down my life for my friends... when in fact, the phrase was likely: I will go with my friends and we will all lay down our lives together. One is hierarchical and condescending; the other is equal and loving and inclusive. I choose, at the moment, to worship the latter as my Savior and Redeemer. And as I study, maybe this worldview will update. But "life eternal" being to "know God" I am happy with my progress of my journey.
Amid all of the Moroni insertions by Rigdon is an essential data point. Before the MDE (Messiah Death Event), wars were on the scale of about 5000 warriors and prisoner exchange was common. After the MDE, wars were on a scale at least 100x larger and NOW prisoner torture included activities that are appalling. Basic change-point analysis will make the point obvious. And when the conquistadores tortured and killed locals for their blasphemies, the data fits together nicely. So the historical record of the Colombian era plus the data from the Moroni story demonstrates the MDE is NOT what the Romans later crafted it to be. The MDE was much, much worse. The heavens were NOT happy and Matthew 24 and Isaiah 20-24 were all fulfilled. Disaster hit the Levant and Rome ... and it took them 40 years to recover Jerusalem and fractured the Roman strength (Tiberius/Caligula historically disappear and four distinct politicians vie for power in the wake of the MDE and its aftershocks).
And the Masoretes even later, went back and altered some basic traditions: 10 days in a week, the nature of the Passover, the nature of the 'golden calf' at Sinai, the uptick of the oliveyard and the downtick of the vineyard (Isa 5), and of course, the uptick of the lamb/goat and the downplay of the sacred cows, with wings, that guarded the holy of holies of the temple: one male/female cherub.
As a traditional Christian, you only have two layers of deception to unravel on your de-mylenization process. As a traditional Mormon, I have three layers of deception: Mormon institutions, Christian institutions, Judean institutions. But I may have more ammunition and data to anchor to, so there may be an upside.
May Yeshua bless and keep you on your journey of self-enlightenment and discovery of getting to truly KNOW GOD as you seek LIFE ETERNAL.
    Namaste,

@MyKidsKKD That's pretty audacious to do a 'he should have said this instead' to prove a your point. The facts are already given to us that there is no 3rd heaven and if there was do you think that Jesus would forget to mention this to his disciples and the prophets. Jesus's message is so simple and clear there is no disputing the message that Jesus taught. Jesus was/is God and accepting him into your heart you will have everlasting life. I would like to listen to the conversation you have with Jesus and he asks you "so you think I should have said this do you?" give him the answer you gave all of us. Do you think the creator of all things will like your answer? good luck with that.

You can confront them on their own scripture and they will still refuse. Simply claim you are "not knowledgeable enough", "you take it out of context", etc. ... I'm tired of the mind games, even if all your arguments are right and they are cornered, they still will refuse. So I doubt the sufficiency of that type of approach (while it can be instrumental). They themselves will be in doubt, but try to hide it even from themselves. And they want to see the fruits, before they consider believing you.

@tbbsk9 according to the Bible we must do more than just believe. If we want eternal life we must repent and do what God says.
(Ezekiel 18:20-32) The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. 25 ¶ Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
26 When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord God. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Thanks for sharing this on RUclips. I now see that I have been procrastinating. When the bride groom comes I'll need the oil in my lamp 🙂 when the verse talks about same spirit that does not mean the devil or Lucifer it means that state your spirit is in for our bodies are compromised with that spirit we had before our mortal week flesh was made at birth. This is the time to grow to the best to perfection state you can. Christ suffered in garden for all man's sins which caused him even to pressure sweat drops of blood from every pore. When we shake off the chains of our sins or imperfections and follow him and his teachings then we then show him we understand and grow. Become free of temptation and sin when you have that abiding love and become more of what he wants us to become. For God so loved the world that he sent his beloved son... go read the verse yourself and ponder it. Seek the holy spirit and as Paul said the truth shall make you free😊

BIBLE ALONE AND JESUS ALONE. FAITH IS USELESS WITHOUT FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE. BECAUSE HE ALONE CAN SAVE US (ACTS 4:12, JOHN 3:16, JOHN 14:6)HE DID IT ALL IN THE CROSS. HE DIED FOR US AND PAID THE PENALTIES OF OUR SINS. NOTE: WE CANNOT SAVE OUR OWN SELF THROUGH GOOD WORK BEC. ALL OUR GOOD WORKS ARE JUST LIKE FILTY RUGS ACCORDING TO ISAIAH 64:6. AND NO ONE IS RIGTHOUS ACCORDING TO ROMANS 3:23. SALVATION IS A FREE GIFT FROM OUR LORD JESUS. WE ARE SAVED THROUGH HIS GRACE (EPHESIANS 2:5,8,10). ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ACCEPT HIM AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR AND PUT OUR FAITH TO HIM. GOOD WORKS IS THE RESULT THAT WE ARE SAVED. FAITH MEANS...IT IS OUR PERSONAL/INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST.

I think the problem comes with "Being in sins" and "Being out of your sins" as a sort of "Either you are born-again, or you are not." It's similar to the Christians. In Christianity you are "Born-again" and then instantly cleared of all sins through justification, and then you go through a sanctification process, but before you are born-again, you are dead in your sins.
I know David A. Bednar was once quoted saying "Not all of our members are converted." In other words, according to Bednar, not every Mormon who has been baptized is "out of their sins" yet, because they are yet to be converted to Christ. Once you are converted, you will still sin, but your sins are covered by an unlimited Atonement also know as a "licence to sin" which Christians also obviously have. While discipline will increase from the Lord (Hebrews 12:6), the Grace keeps abounding as the sinner sins more in both faiths. The difference I see between Carnal Christians and Carnal Mormons is that the Mormons lose some of their eternal rewards by sinning a lot, where the Christians are permanently in the one big Heaven when they die.

Protestants are great for getting people to believe in Christ. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints loves other Christians and their faith. The restored apostolic church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes that through the Grace of Christ's atonement, we can be perfected as the Holy Ghost works through us in our lives and we make covenants with Christ. As we strive to keep his commandments we receive more Grace. The problem with you Protestants, especially the preachers, your stance is one can be saved from their sins while in their sins and you think death is the judgment to determine if you go to Hell or Heaven. That puts limits on a loving God's sacrifice. Death is not the final judgment. You need to watch the thousands of Near Death Experiences which are real life experiences.

So if Christ takes on all sin so they basically all go to heaven. Then why do they believe gay people go to hell? So we don't have to work to get to heaven....unless your gay, etc. That has always been confusing to me. You cannot have it both ways.

    • @angelictigerette
      @angelictigerette 5 лет назад

Christ took on all sin so that we could have the opportunity to go to Heaven and not be eternally separated from Him, (in Hell) but we have to believe in Him and accept Him as our personal Lord and Savior. Some people reject Him and curse His word, thus are unfortunately leading them to Hell unless they truly repent and accept His grace and mercy. His Salvation is a free gift. Unfortunately, people living in homosexuality are unrepentant until they leave that lifestyle. Jesus died for us because when Adam and Even sinned, it broke the covenant with God. Sin entered the world and humans were born into it. The only way that we could be with God was to send Jesus to die for our sins and rising again on the third day, defeating death. Have you ever done a Bible study on this? I encourage you to do so using the Bible for a deeper understanding. Pray and ask for understanding as you do it. Here is a link to an article that might help you get started. It talks about how to get to Heaven and why Jesus died for us

Here is one more example. If you are confused about grace and what LDS people believe I suggest you study Alma 36. Alma was a evil man trying to destroy people's faith... sound familiar?
Any he received grace after having a broken heart and a contrite spirit and asking in faith.
13 Yea, I did remember all my sins and iniquities, for which I was tormented with the pains of hell; yea, I saw that I had rebelled against my God, and that I had not kept his holy commandments.
14 Yea, and I had murdered many of his children, or rather led them away unto destruction; yea, and in fine so great had been my iniquities, that the very thought of coming into the presence of my God did rack my soul with inexpressible horror.
15 Oh, thought I, that I could be banished and become extinct both soul and body, that I might not be brought to stand in the presence of my God, to be judged of my deeds.
16 And now, for three days and for three nights was I racked, even with the pains of a damned soul.
17 And it came to pass that as I was thus racked with torment, while I was harrowed up by the memory of my many sins, behold, I remembered also to have heard my father prophesy unto the people concerning the coming of one Jesus Christ, a Son of God, to atone for the sins of the world.
18 Now, as my mind caught hold upon this thought, I cried within my heart: O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me, who am in the gall of bitterness, and am encircled about by the everlasting chains of death.
19 And now, behold, when I thought this, I could remember my pains no more; yea, I was harrowed up by the memory of my sins no more.
20 And oh, what joy, and what marvelous light I did behold; yea, my soul was filled with joy as exceeding as was my pain!
21 Yea, I say unto you, my son, that there could be nothing so exquisite and so bitter as were my pains. Yea, and again I say unto you, my son, that on the other hand, there can be nothing so exquisite and sweet as was my joy.

He completely does not understand. It is because we are like every other people on earth we commit sin. It is this reason why we partake of the sacrament every week and renew our covenants with God. Besides it never say we have to become perfect in this life but we continue to progress in the next life. Don't look at the scriptures as this life only. For the scriptures are from eternity to eternity not just from birth to death. I am glad that God does not look and judge us as he does. I do fear for him however because he will be judge accourding to his judgements.

I have to be honest here.
Your “if-then” method doesn’t work with the first Moroni verse you shared.
The verse is *not* saying ‘if you do all these things, then his “grace will be applied” to you’, as you said.
It’s, then will his “grace be sufficient” for you.
    Two very different things.
For when you do the things of taking up your cross and denying yourself, you find yourself completely broken and empty, and you will find that Christs grace has been your strength all along. It has been sufficient, and will continue to be sufficient.
Or, in the words of Christ and Paul:
“And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭38‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭KJV‬‬
The point of the process of sanctification is to burn out of you everything that is not like Him. It’s a process, not an event.
Take up your cross and follow Him.

I've had bullies that will totally take advantage of being a terrible person in this life and look forward to not being accountable in the next. A committed mormon is among these people. You can't just do whatever you want without recognizing accountability. God forgives those who are sorry. He does not forgive those who don't take his grace as an opportunity to do better.

    This what Jesus said;’
    Matthew 15:10-13
10Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, “Come, listen and open your heart to understand. 11What truly contaminates a person is not what he puts into his mouth but what comes out of his mouth. That’s what makes people defiled.”
12Then his disciples approached him and said, “Don’t you know that what you just said offended the Pharisees?”
13Jesus replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father didn’t plant is destined to be uprooted. 14Stay away from them, for they’re nothing more than blind guides. Do you know what happens when a blind man pretends to guide another blind man? They both stumble into a ditch!”

I find it interesting that some are so threatened by LDS theology, which, time and time again, they demonstrate that they don't understand it. Yet these people spend so much effort teaching against it. It's almost a testimony of its truthfulness. There will always be those who fight against the truth.

As a practicing Latter-day saint, this video was frustrating to listen to. Would any of you appreciate it if I explained to you what you believe? Especially if what I said about your beliefs was not really what you believe? I found it ironic (or dare I say hypocritical) that the scripture in Alma this guy quoted is when Alma and his beliefs of Jesus Christ were on trial -by people who were essentially trying to do the very thing this guy is doing in this video!
Many Mormons don’t fully understand the entirety of the Doctrine of Christ that makes up the Church of Jesus Christ. Most Latter Day Saints are by no means religious scholars. So why set them up to be punching bags? That’s not very Christian. You want to have a religious debate on the doctrine hit up a religious scholar at BYU, not a lay member.
The doctrines this guy goes into, relating to salvation, are not easily responded to in a forum such as this. If they were simple to expound on, the apostle Paul wouldn’t have needed so many epistles. Mormons fundamentally believe in what I call the ‘pursuit of perfection’. We strive to be Christlike in this life while recognizing that becoming perfect, as Christ was perfect, is not something anyone can casually do. Were it not so why then would we need a redeemer? However, while that is the case, we still must strive to be Christlike to bring forth fruits worthy of redemption. And eventually we can become ‘perfected in him’.
James, in his epistle in the Newt Testament, goes into this to some degree when he talks about what we must do when one who is hungry comes knocking on our door. A good Christian doesn’t just say, ‘god bless you’ and send the man away, but rather provides food for him if he is hungry. If James makes an obligation like this clear in this instance would it not apply in other aspects of our lives? If Christ is the bread of life and we give our brothers and sisters our bread (as Jesus did) do we not then become more Christlike? And if we then, become like Christ through principals such as these, do we not then become joint heirs with him in his kingdom as mentioned in the New Testament?
I could go on (and on and on and on) but I believe I have concisely, if imperfectly, communicated that matter. If you’re a sincere Christian that believes in Christ and want to know more about Mormons (unfiltered) simply read the Book of Mormon. And when you do count the number of verses the reference or mention Christ. That book is all about Christ. One cannot understand Mormons until they read and understand that book.

"Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you."
"Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

    💭Quitting the Mormon Church
In a local newspaper in Provo (Utah), there had been an ongoing series of articles written by individuals who wanted to persuade, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, commonly known as, the “Mormon church” to leave the Church. In response to the highly critical and spirited remarks, a local member wrote this rebuttal:
    “Editor:
I have been thinking of quitting the Mormon Church. Yes, if I can, I am going to get even with that church. As soon as I can find another church that teaches about the Gathering of the House of Israel; the return of the Ten Tribes and their mission; the return of the Jews to Palestine and why, and how they are going to build the temple; the building of temples and what to do with them; the mission of Elias, the prophet, as predicted by Malachi; the method for the salvation of the people that died at the time of Noah in the flood; the origin of the American Indian; the complete explanation of why Jesus of Nazareth had to have a mortal mother but not a mortal father; the explanation of the three degrees of glory (three heavens) as mentioned by Paul; the complete explanation of why Elias and Moses did not die but had to be translated (since they both lived before the resurrection was introduced by Christ); the restoration of the gospel by modern revelation as promised by Peter and Paul and Jesus himself; the belief in eternal marriage and the family, and the knowledge and the place to seal for eternity; that teaches abstinence from all harmful drugs and foods ; and that sells the best fire insurance policy on earth, for the last days, for only a 10th of my income.
Yes sir, as soon as I can find another church that teaches all that, or even half as much, I will say good-bye to this Mormon Church. The church that I am looking for must also be able to motivate 50,000+ youth, and adults, for the first, second or third time, to leave their homes for two years at their own expense and go to far-away places to teach and preach without salary.
It must be able to call, on a frosty day, some 5 or 6 thousand professors, students, lawyers, doctors, judges, policemen, businessmen, housewives and children to go and pick apples at 6 am. It must be able to call meetings and get the attention for two hours of more than 150,000 men. Yes, it must also teach and show why salvation is assured for children who die before eight years of age.
Mr. Editor, could you help me find a church that teaches all that and more than hundreds of other doctrines and principles, which I have no room to mention here, and which brings solace and comfort to the soul; peace, hope, and salvation to mankind, and above all, that answers the key questions that all the great philosophers have asked; questions and answers that explain the meaning of life, the purpose of death, suffering and pain; the absolute need for a Redeemer and the marvelous plan conceived by our Father and executed by Jesus Christ the Savior?
Yes, as soon as I find another church that teaches that, and also that has the organization and the powers to make that teaching effective, I am going to quit the Mormon Church. For I should not tolerate that “they” should change a few words in the Book of Mormon-even if those changes simply improve the grammar and the syntax of the verses-for, after all, don’t you think the Divine Church should employ angels as bookmakers, and clerks, to do all the chores on earth? Don’t you think, Mr. Editor, that the Divine Church should also have prophets that don’t get sick and don’t get old and die, and certainly, that don’t make a goof here and there. No, sir! A Divine Church should be so divine that only perfect people should belong to it, and only perfect people should run it.As a matter of fact, the Church should be so perfect that it should not even be here on earth!
So, I repeat, if any one of the kind readers of this imperfect letter knows
about another church that teaches and does as much for mankind as the Mormon Church, please let me know. And please do it soon, because my turn to go to the cannery is coming up. Also, “they” want my last son (the fifth one) to go away for two years and again, I have to pay for all that. And I also know that they expect me to go to the farm to prune trees, and I have heard that our ward is going to be divided again, and it is our side that must build the new chapel. And also, someone the other day had the gall of suggesting that my wife and I get ready to go on a second mission, and when you come back, they said, you can volunteer as a temple worker. Boy, these Mormons don’t leave you alone for a minute. And what do I get for all that, I asked? “Well,” they said, “for one, you can look forward to a funeral service at no charge!”… Do you think you can help me to find another church?💯♥️☮️Thomas D. Hey Brother. Yea I've heard this Argument cobbled together from other Sources. I joined in 2020 David Alexander describes Evangelicalism as a Fast Track too Atheism. I have a Calvinist friend who mentioned Moroni 10:32 once as if it was a mic drop moment. What came to mind was Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount saying "Be ye therefore perfect as your Father in Heaven is Perfect." In all sincerity the one thing people of this pastoral disposition do not want to address is the realization that Grace, and Exaltation are not the Same. Both are blessings, but Exaltation is about Discipleship, and they dont have anything close to the Grace the Restoration teaches. And I know this because of the Witness I received without any Missionaries that these things are True.but its the Word I was given in 2019 by The Holy Ghost. "PATIENCE" Surely this was not of me. I have studied that word so much, and its expressly clear that to this day I lack Patience with people who have this disposition as they do...and im Mad as All heck for ever believing they had any Authority as I listen to Family flounder around like Dullards repeating Ad Hominems that in so doing by their assertions Condemn the very Word of God they hold up as a Weapon against the Book of Mormon. They are Fools. I never wanted to be a Latterday Saint, yet when faced with the Witness I had received as did my Wife I had no choice but to Act.

@Earle Doudera This verse also means that those truly in Christ are already perfected in Him. Because He died as our substitute and a perfect sacrifice, we are in him and are "perfected" there is absolutely nothing we can do to be perfect on our own might. We are all sinners no matter how hard we try to ' be perfect' That's why Jesus died and we are able to be with God after death when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior and die to ourselves. The old ways have passed away and the new has come! We have a renewed mind and heart when we accept Christ and develop a personal relationship with Him.

This verse is saying that you can do it and this is a verse that every Mormon should know. Are you saying that God will give commandments that you can't keep? God says thou shalt not lie. Lol I laugh at this man so hard because he does present a good case and yes I have to stop breaking commandments and put off all ungodlyness. If I do that what do I become?...a God a man in this life and have great power givin to this man a rank of a seer which is the most power a man can have with out becoming a God. On the sermon on the mound Jesus said ...be ya perfect even as your father in heaven is perfect. How do I do that one asks? Well God has laid out his church in the last days and laid out the commandments with the athority. Given to man to bless the sacrement baptize and many other things. So I ask all Christian's do you want to live with your heavenly father? Will you take up your cross and follow him. Will you one his commandments if you do your best grace will be sufficient for you . Remember every God has proven him self to hold the power and glory he and she has. That's why we wear the Holy garments take the sacrament. One man doing all he can do is different then another man's doing all he can do. If I don't do crape grace will do crape for me. Think about it.

The reason God doe's anything is to correct them, and they are blessed by it. It is also to become like God, as God and Christ are our example's in what to do, or there wouldn't be a reason for him to want us like him. You are a little unclear as to your point, but I do agree that God wants us to be like Him. This, however, cannot mean that we will ever become a God, as He is God. Because God Himself says in Isaiah 43:10 "“You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “And My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me." And, God cannot lie--He always says what He means and means what He says! God has provided a way, through Jesus Christ, for us to become righteous, through the righteousness of Jesus -- in that way we will one day become sinlessly perfect just as God is sinlessly perfect, (see Romans chapter 10, verses 1-4 & 9-10 & 13.)

You are mistaken with this video, you did not find God as i did, and ask him. In doing that God showed me, by doing the same thing to me as he did Joseph Smith, Except i didnt know about him, nore had i ever read the bible. God used the bible instead of the book of Mormon with me, and when i was twenty two year's old and had bought a bible and picked it up, i was reading about people who had done the same thing i had, as described in 2 Corinthians 3, with the transformation into Glory because i had seen it in the mirror. This did not happen because of any church, or belief system, God simply told me what he told Isaiah, and did the same thing, then at 15 year's old, then at 22 the transformation. After that God made it a point to say, but to show me at the same time, the key's separate from what he already showed me. That are written in the bible, but are not represented the right way. The truth is never in a book, it's in people that have met God. God isnt that cruel that we are going to watch our fiend's and family get burned, just because we believe in him and are saved by Jesus. God made it so we could save them too, because i wouldn't want to be with a God where i would be next. I don't have anything to gain from lying, It's not where i make a living, everyone even the LDS made sure someone like me wouldn't have any say so. The world hasn't changed since Isaiah, It's still the same.

David R You don't know me. So you also don't know how I know God. I entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ when I was 21 years of age. I have walked with God for about 35 years now and He has directed my life step by step to the place where I am today. From what you wrote, I think you may be the one who is mistaken, because God tells us that His written word, the Bible, was inspired by Holy men of God as our foundation for life. If you build your life on "the Rock" the words of Jesus, your house will never fall. If you build your life on "the sand", anything else, your house will fall. We are commanded, "Study to show yourselves approved to God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15. The word of truth = the words of Jesus Christ. A couple of things don't makes sense to me, #1. Why do Mormons fight the idea that we should base our lives on the recorded words of Jesus Christ? The LDS Church is supposed to be The Church of Jesus Christ! #2. Why do Mormons think God would not send his disobedient children to a literal "hell"? According to Mormonism, in the Pre-mortal existence, before this earth was ever created Heavenly Father judged 1/3 of His spirit children, calling them "sons of perdition", and condemned them to eternal "outerdarkness". And, He never gave them an opportunity to repent. So, why is the God of the Bible somehow unjust for judging rebellious humans who refuse to bow the knee to Jesus Christ (the One who died to save them)? I admonish you to study the teachings of Jesus Christ -- read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John! These 4 books are the words of Jesus Christ, recorded for us by eye witnesses, and preserved by God for us to study, believe, and follow. Base your life on the words of Jesus and you will be accepted, ignore the words of Jesus and you will be condemned, John 3:36.

When the point is to be resurrected, refusing to live life, would be sinful, or there wouldn't be a point in casting demon's into pig's. Just like if we believed in Jesus to save us, there wouldn't be a reason for him to be in the temple, and there wouldn't be a reason for the pharisee's to spy on what Christ was saying, in order to stone him for it. Good thing they were misinformed, and didn't know the power of God. I think it is you who need's to read more, because you haven't put yourself there to know them. I think it was good that God said to me, "you are free to marry whoever you choose, even him who is in heaven". That was after God made me die, but i was left standing a empty shell, and when i came back the blood came rushing back into my head, and because there was no blood flow my head was tingling from it. It' was a surprise to think God was the example to follow in that, that he was on that side, and i was on this, and everyone else. Not to mention the early painting of the halo. I think your lack of faith has made you blind, following all that man made stuff that tries to explain what i have experianced first hand or better said what God has shown me. I found God just like Moses did, he placed himself in my way so i could find him, because it was my life quest to be like him. So did Moses, but wow, to think of the experiance, even if you made a mistake, would be worth it. But at least it wasnt like Eave and had to do something wrong to be like him. Like i said, i became like that before i read the bible. You need more faith.

David R 1 John 4:1 tells us to "test the spirits to see if they are from God" - did you test the "spirit" that appeared to you? We are warned that even Satan can appear as an "angel of light" - he is the great deceiver (read 2 Corinthians 11:13-15)! So, just because you had some amazing spiritual experience does not mean that you met God. The way we can know if a supernatural experience is from God or not is to "test the spirit" by studying the teachings of the Lord's Apostles, (read 1 John 4:6). If the message you have received from a spirit does not perfectly agree with the teachings of God's word, the Bible, then the spirit that appeared to you was a deceptive spirit. I implore you to study the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and become a follower of Him and His teachings. Any religion that conflicts with the teachings of Jesus cannot be the truth! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one will ever come to the Father except through Him. You need to stop believing what mere men are telling you that Jesus said and start believing what Jesus actually said. We have His teachings recorded for us in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Become a follower of the Master, Jesus Christ, and you will find eternal life. Stop and think about what I am asking you to do! I am only asking you to study the words of Jesus Christ, and follow Him and His teachings. If you are a true member of the Church of Jesus Christ, this should not be offensive to you! I want you to follow Jesus!

You interpret our scriptures with the same twisted logic you use to interpret the New Testament. You're denying the fact that man can can deny himself of all ungodliness, which is false. When God required prophets to ascend mountains to commune with Him, it was a way of teaching them that they have to meet Him, not half way, but as far as they're able. You then say we must interpret the scriptures the way you do or admit we don't believe them. This is, of course, nonsense. Your "evangelical" exegesis is exactly what the Lord complains about when He tells us the plain and precious parts of the Gospel were removed and corrupted. We reject the notion that all one must do is accept Jesus and continue on with our sinful lives and all will be forgiven! _Poof!_ If one murders, Jesus forgives it. All one has to do is depend on the grace of the Savior. You _deny_ that we are judged according to our works (that part of the Gospel is obnoxious to you). You fail to realize that while works will not save us, we cannot be saved without them. For example, baptism will not save a man, but he cannot enter the kingdom of God without it. That's why the ancient saints practiced baptism for the dead. But even though Jesus said no one could enter the Kingdom of Heaven without being born of the water and of the spirit, you deny it's necessary because they are crass works. Your theology is why I left evangelical life and became LDS 45 years ago, and I've never regretted it.

John Roberts ~ Christianity does NOT teach that you accept Jesus as Saviour in order to be saved AND that you can then continue your sinful ways !! NO way !! Along with accepting Jesus come REPENTANCE and a CHANGE in behaviour, i.e. stopping sinful activity. "Go and sin no more" said Jesus !
In looking at orthodox Christianity and the LDS church, it is remarkable the extent to which Mormonism is AT ODDS with Christianity: please read on:
      ruclips.net/video/78qbWE_hXpA/видео.html
🌟 Mormon beliefs, teachings and doctrine PROVE that Mormonism is NOT a Christian religion. The LDS church is vastly at odds with Christianity: it is ANTI-Christian in fact! Do the research. Here are some of the erroneous, dangerous MORMON teachings, which are in deep and obvious conflict with Christianity: "GOD used to be a man on another planet."
(Mormon Doctrine, p 321, Joseph Smith, Times and Seasons, vol. 5, p. 613-614, Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, vol 2, p 345, Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol 7, p 333).
"The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s." (D&C 130:22).
"God is in the form of a man." (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, vol 6, p 3).
"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens!!! . . . We have imagined that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take away the veil, so that you may see."
(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345).
"God the Father had a Father."
(Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6, p. 476, Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses, vol. 5, p. 19, Milton Hunter, First Council of the Seventy, Gospel through the Ages, p. 104-105).
"God resides near a star called Kolob."
(Pearl of Great Price, p. 34-35, Mormon Doctrine, p. 428).
NOTE: "The birth of the Saviour was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood--was begotten of his Father, as we were of our fathers," (Journal of Discourses, vol. 8, p. 115)
"God had sexual relations with Mary to make the body of Jesus."
(Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, 1857, p. 218, vol. 8, p. 115). NOTE: This is disputed among many Mormons and not always 'officially' taught and believed. Nevertheless, Young, the 2nd prophet of the Mormon church taught it. HOWEVER, refer to the Book of Mormon, Alma 7:10, where it states that Mary would "conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost."
"Therefore we know that both the Father and the Son are in form and stature perfect men; each of them possesses a tangible body . . . of flesh and bones."
(Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 38).
"After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god.
"(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345-347, 354.)
"Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them."
      (D&C 132:20).
"There are many gods." (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163). ***NOTE: that is major heresy***
"And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light: and there was light."
(Book of Abraham 4:3). "There is a mother god."
(Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 443).
"God is married to his goddess wife and has spirit children."
      (Mormon Doctrine, p. 516).
      ---------
"The trinity is three separate Gods: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. That these three are separate individuals, physically distinct from each other, is demonstrated by the accepted records of divine dealings with man."
(Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 35).
NOTE: This is truly astounding to read, for the Book of Mormon itself states: "And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way ; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the Kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen." (Refer original 1830 printing of the Book of Mormon (I have a copy), in 2 Nephi, at the end of Chapter 13, on page 120, also refer the current LDS website where the same wording is quoted. This wording agrees with the doctrine of the Trinity as taught by mainstream, traditional Christianity.)

Also, had Joseph Smith Junior understood Hebrew (OT) and Greek (NT), to which he obviously did not. He would not have violated the most basic fundamental Christian tenets of the Gospel.

Can you offer up any explanation for what baptism for the dead is? The idea you can baptize by proxy is unscriptural. Read Heb 9:27.

@@drspaseebo410 You have no idea of our teachings.
Because our teachings of many gods and the one true God don't contradict. Its just more Advanced Knowledge on God that we have been given from God.... Those who dont understand it, will only see just contradictions. But there is no contradiction.
If they understand the Great Link of the Celestial Kingdom of God and how the Holy Ghost unites all beings in that kingdom as one in purpose and harmony and being at one with God..or become like the one true God. Because all who worship God become like God and become part of God. Jesus taught this unity with God very clearly in the Chapters 14-17 of John in the Bible. He made no secret about becoming like God. We were to become like God his Father and to be as one whole as Jesus is one also with the Father. This is what Latter-day Saints teach and its the truth because Jesus taught the same doctrine himself about the oneness with God the Father. They definitely want us to become like them and join in that same oneness and unity that they enjoy.

Morni 10 is exactly the same as 2nd nephi 25.
      Moroni chapter 10,32
Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God
And here is what your books say on it
      Commentary by fielding and Mckonkey
Doctrinal commentary on the book of mormon Vol 1 Page 295
Indeed it is only after a person has so preformed a lifetime of works and faithfulness. Only after he has come to deny himself and every worldly lust that the Grace of God, that spiritual increment of power is
      efficacious/kicks in
Not twisting it at all bud. I used to be a mormon. And no i harbor no ill will. My wife is LDS. and both her and my dad wanted our newborn to be blessed. So the bible says honor thy mother and father. And i want my wife to be happy I went along with it. That's literally how much i don't harbor ill will against the LDS people.
And i can give you a hole list of things that profits have said towards all the versus he speaks on that goes hand in hand with what he said. Its not twisted at all. Like the book from your profit the miracle of forgiveness. Spencer Kimball
      Miracle of forgiveness 324-324
our heavenly farther has promised forgiveness upon total repentance and meeting all the requirements but that forgiveness is not granted merely for the asking. There must be works. Many works. And an all out total surrender with great humility and a broken heart and contrite spirit. It depends upon you. Weather or not your forgiven and when. It could be weeks. It could be years. It could be centuries. Before that happy day when you have a positive assurance that the lord has forgiven you. That depends on your humility and sincerity. Your works your attitudes.
Can any mormon just ask forgiveness according to this.
      Page 164
      Trying is not sufficient
Nor is repentance complete when one tries to abandon sin. To try with the weekness of attitude and effort is to assure failure in the face of satans strong counter acting efforts. What is needed is resolute action. A story will perhaps illustrate this.
A army officer called a soldier to him an ordered him to deliver a message to another officer. He looked at him and said Ill try sir ill try. To this the officer responded. I don't want you to try I want you to deliver this message.
The soldiers somewhere embarrassed now replied Ill do the best i can sir.
At this the officer now disgusted rejoined with some vigour. I dont want you to try. And i dont want to do the best you can. I want you to deliver the message.
Now the young solider strengthening to his full high approached the matter magnificently as he thought when he saluted again and said ill.do it or Die sir.
To this the now high rate responded. I don't want you to die. I dont want you to Merely do the best you can and i dont want you to try. Now the request is a reasonable one the message is important the distance is not far
You are able bodied you can do what you are ordered. Now get out of here and complete your Mission.
Its normal for children to try. The fall and get up numerous times before they can be surtain of there footing. But adults who have gone through the learning periods. Must determine what they are going to do, then do it. To try is week. To do the best i can is not strong we must always do better than we can.
Kimball said that true repentance does not permit making the same mistake again
      Page 354
It is that the former transgressor must have reached a point of no return to sin. where there cannot merely a renunciation but a deep adhorance of the sin. Were the sin becomes most distasteful to him and where the desire or urge to sin is cleared out of his life.
      Repentance being forgiveness
      5 steps OF REPENTANCE
      The abandonment of sin.
Its its best when one stops sinning because he becomes aware of the seriousness of his sin he then should want to comply with all the laws of God. The thief may abandon his evil in prison but true repentance would have him forsake it before his arrest and return what he had stolen voluntarily. The sex offender who voluntarily stops his sin his is headed towards forgiveness. Alma said blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble. And the lord said by this you may know if a man repentance of his sin behold he will forsake them D&C 58:43 his interpretation of D&C 58
The forsaking of sin must be a permanent one. True repentance does not permit making the same mistake again
Kimball said this progress toward eternal life is a matter of achieving perfection. Living all the commandments garrenties total forgiveness of sins and assures one of exaltation through that perfection witch comes buy complying with the Formula the lord gave us in the sermon on the mount.
Being Perfect mean to triumph over sin. Perfection therefore is an achievable Goal.
So you cannot be forgiven at all until you completely forsake that sin. Totally 100% and if you don't then all those sins come back full force. Brigham saidthat its 100 times harder to repent in the after life. So if its impossible here and its 100× harder than impossible in the after life.
So lien, for example. Have you been forgiven. Joseph said a man may be damned for 1 sin. And D&C 1:31 D&c 1:31-32
For I the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance. So how are you going to get to heaven.
You need to turn to Jesus. The one and true God that the bible teaches hands down is our God and he took our sins 100% and died on the cross and they died with him. The difference between a Christian and an LDS is simply this. When Christ said IT IS FINISHED. we believe him. You believe you have to do the work instead of relying on him. Not that Christian dont do Good works because they are going to save us. We do them because God has done the work of changing us as a free Gift to love and want to fallow him. He brought us to life and out of sin and we show our love by doing the works he set before us. But our work's are not what saves us..its Gods work in our life that changed us an saved us. But you believe you have to pay Tithes, be Baptized, do your ordnances and so on to be reconciled before God so you can get the highest level of heaven. But that's not what God or the bible has said
