35:55 Also this shot of all the nations coming together is pretty bittersweet when you realize that there’s no Air Nomads in the crowd. Aang is really all by himself as the last airbender and the last one of his people.
Also Toph never gets to reunite with her parents. Katara helps her write a letter in the runaway episode but we never get to see what happens after that

Zuko vs Azula was a really sad situation, but damn if it isn't the best fight in A:tLA. From the music to the sound design to the animation. Perfection.

I’m so glad you guys understood why Aang didn’t kill the fire lord. How it was against his very moral and his teachings. He has to represent an entire culture of the Airbenders that are gone now. There's a comic called "The Search" that will give you some of the things you are looking for. There's quite a few post show comics for this one, but that one specifically is what you're looking for.
1: Sozin’s Comet only comes around once every 100 years, meaning Azula would’ve never experienced its overwhelming power (or the possible effects on her emotions) before. 2: Azula’s only two “friends” in the world had just betrayed her, and her father left her out of the mission that was *her idea* in the first place (side note: my head-canon is that Ozai left her behind because he no longer trusted her due to Zuko revealing her lies, so that’s her own fault 🤷🏻♀️). Combine those things with her unresolved trauma over her mother’s abandonment and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. I feel bad for her situation, but Azula has no one to blame but herself for the choices she made. Also don’t know if you knew this, but she’s voiced by Grey DeLisle, who’s been the voice of Daphne from Scooby Doo for the longest time. Edit: The fact that Ty Lee is now a Kyoshi Warrior means she would’ve taught them chi-blocking, which would put them on the same level as (some) benders.
I'm more of the mind that Ozai wanted all the glory for himself, which would tie in to why he both left her behind and dubbed himself Phoenix King after naming her Fire Lord
I’m so glad I got to witness you guys finish this incredible journey. As someone who grew up on this show, even just seeing how this show affected y’all, all the ups and downs, the laughs and tears, everything was amazing coming from your reactions. Avatar: The Last Airbender will go down in history as one of the greatest shows of all time and I’m glad to revisit this series with y’all.🎉
You KNOW the writers did a good job when they create a character that you hate so much that it leaks into the real word to hate the actress. Grey Delisle-Griffin, (Azula's voiceactor) is actually a sweet talented voice actress AND singer. It's like in The Green Mile where the actor that played Percy who sabotaged an electric chair execution was hated so much that he ACTUALLY GOT DEATH THREATS from people because he played the character so well!
That isn't good. People being schizos about ACTORS PLAYING ROLES isn't a good thing the fact this even needs to be said is mind blowing. Everyone is so comfortable being ghetto and braindead in 2024 because it's cool to be black I guess 🤷♂️
I hate that she tried to flex her power and blacklist an independent animator for using AI voices in his free youtube video though. But the fact that she's a degenerate that ships Azula and Zuko almost makes up for it.
22:00 the entire Avatar gang have and will definitely catch bodies. Look what they did at the Northern Air temple in season 1 and how they invaded the Earth Kingdom’s palace
Here’s something that a few people overlook: when Ozai made himself Phoenix King and had Azula be Firelord it was pretty much a meaningless title. Cause what’s a Firelord to the king of the world?
It would be like a crown heir title for a prince or princess. The Firelord next in line to be Phoenix King. A prestigious thing to be the vassal of the homeland and empire’s capital. I assume there would have been rulers in each territory of the empire with the PK as emperor.
People always point that out as if it's insightful or something. That's any basic government structure. The president can't govern over every state or town individually. Being a mayor or governor isn't a powerless position.
Fun Fact : The Creator has the intention to make the continuation after this with Zuko's Mom too but for unknown reason the animation Idea is Cancelled. Good thing is that the creator make the Spinoff Comics related to Zuko's Mom called "The Search".
@@Nevertheless196because the writing in the legend of Kora was awful. You shouldn't take anything it does seriously. Its more like a April fools joke.
@@Nevertheless196 So? That was explained in the series. Turns out techniques evolve over 70 years. As of this series, there are two known blood benders, and it's explicitly stated that only during the full moon are they strong enough.
Loved watching you guys react to this! One thing Reactors always forget, Katara isn’t able to blood bend without a full moon. There’s no full moon during the comet.
who need the eclipse ? they're defeating fire nation when they are at the peak of they're power because of the sozin's comet !! it so freakin awesome..
35:11 I feel like its not spoken enough on how Ty Lee has gone from being unsettled by being part of a set to being part of a group that is a set. She left home because she couldnt find her individuality within her group of 7 identical twin sisters but now she's part of the Kyoshi Warriors and loving it and able to see herself as her own person despite being in a set of girls I loved this ending for her
Probably my favourite Avatar reactions start to end I've seen. And I've seen a lot haha. Great time watching your reactions! And fuck Azula! No redemption wanted.
A lot of people say that Zuko’s Battle against Azula is the best but if u pay attention to Anng’s Battle is definitely the best since the beginning, seeing Aang trying to scape and in the end he shows us the power of the Avatar State, that’s nuts. All is so perfect in this sow.
There are comics that are even now still coming out, that detail the next year or two of team Avatars story. Well worth reading and a beautiful way of including Zuko and Azula’s mom
I still remember the day this aired. I was at a family reunion, and some of my older (by like a year, mind) cousins were allowed to stay up and watch, while I had to go to bed with the younger cousins. I watched the finale through a cracked door, crouching on the hardwood floors. Words cannot describe the incandescent rage I had that evening.
I had to go to my stepdads family function during the nickelodeon premiere of sozens comet and I forced them to change the channel. Hella people ended up watching the series finale w me because it was so dope!! No one else had ever seen an episode!! 😂
FUNFACT: after Toph metal bended people to the walls of the airship, they nevered showed them freeing the firebenders from the control room before destroy the airship, only the lower deck crews. so its likely they were still welded to the walls when they crashed and got oblitterated
Not even the first time someone dies in this show as a direct result of the Gaang, I refuse to believe they didn't catch at least 500 bodies throughout the entire series
@@lfg2.050 That wasn't the first time either, there's no way no one died when the Fire Nation attacked the Northern Air Temple to get the Mechanist, or when Aang went Godzilla mode vs Zhao's fleet on the North Pole
Yea, this show os barely a kids show. It's a fact that that the gang has killed numerous people. I mean, they're in a war so you have to kill others in order to survive.Ngl though, It's still pretty dark to think those guys welded in the walls got super roasted by the amount of fire that came out of the explosion. Imagine getting cooked alive while wrapped in metal, which literally conducts heat? Ouch😭
I'd like to add that Azula was also ab*sed by her father. In the comics, she does receive her redemption arc. She suffered mentally with what her father put her through. She even blamed her mother for leaving her to the hands of her father.
I just realized Tai Lee's growth as well. She had issues about being "part of a matched set" with her sisters. But at the end, she's perfectly happy with being a Kiyoshi warrior, who are pretty much a matched set too when in uniform
17:45 damn a shame too cause the VA for azula is actually the complete opposite of her character. She showed the show to her own kids and they hated the character and couldn't believe she voiced that villain lmao. Also, toph is built to fight but to be an avatar is a whole different conversation, aang was goofy and silly especially at the beginning but due to being raised by monks that taught him discipline and empathy he is far more suited to be an avatar as the avatar not just fights but must understand others, and bring balance through communication. In korra you will see what I mean, also there was a comic strip of avatar yengchen explaining to aang who asked "why is the avatar human?". But I get your point and I feel the frustration with what you think should happen
1:15 This is not where it stops, the comics continue the story in such a great way(including the Zuko mom story), you have to read at least The Promise and The Search, so so so good. Plus there are some prequel books about the previous avatars, that are great as well.
Nickelodeon really went downhill after this show ended. This is one of my favorite shows of all time. I made my girlfriend watch it for the first time a few years ago and she's been a massive fan since. This show is phenomenal. An actual masterpiece
You start this show cursing Zuko for hounding the Avatar By the end, you are rooting for him to change his family's destiny and steer the fire nation in the right direction. It takes some damn good writers to make you feel all of that for the same character.
Such a good finale, I really hope you guys give Legend of Korra a watch as it is the direct sequel to The Last Airbender and has some great call backs to characters from the original series.
a very important thing about azulas character, is when all this happens, shes like 14 yeas old. thats why she breaks. shes just a kid under a literal mountain of pressure, expectation, and scrutiny
When Ang and the firelord where locked and glowing, the lion turtle lesson was continuing what we hadn't been shown, in the background you could here his voice. Ang was told that his spirit must be unbendable or his spirit would be corrupted, that is when the color of the firelord started to spread over Ang's body. He wasn't absorbing the power, just trying to remove it, but he almost got corrupted in the process. Once Ang fought back, remembering the lesson, he pushed the corruption out and removed the firelords power. looking forward to the next one!
Drew and Joe really locked in with the finale. They are seated upright and was really feeling the final fight of Aang vs Ozai and Zuko vs Azula. ATLA will always be a top tier show ❤ When Aang got access to the Avatar state again goosebumps always.
Yup 100%, a show like this has to be done right for it to work down to the designs & the characters. It’s that type of show that you have to get right or just don’t do it all if you can’t ☝️
One of the greatest series ever, one of the greatest animated series ever & arguably the greatest finale of all time. Hope u guys do LOK to continue the story. Hell even the comics they did to show after the finale. Theres videos online that do a quick summary etc. LOK is solid never can be in the same ilk as this iconic series but it has its moments. Especially one at the end of season 1 that always brings a tear to my eyes.
The only "hero not killing" moment I like more than this is the Daredevil finale "You dont get to destroy who I am" Writing a interesting and compelling character that doesnt kill is hard because a lot of people can find it annoying or lame or they know it could easily solve the conflict of the story

33:13 "Man I hate when I hear music like this because it makes me want to become a better person" 😂
Fun Fact : The Creator has the intention to make the continuation after this with Zuko's Mom too but for unknown reason the animation Idea is Cancelled. Good thing is that the creator make the Spinoff Comics related to Zuko's Mom called "The Search".
Katara can only bloodbend during a full moon. A lot of people seem to forget that.
in legend of korra the guy with the mask could do that all the time he did not need the moon
@@Nevertheless196because the writing in the legend of Kora was awful. You shouldn't take anything it does seriously. Its more like a April fools joke.
@@iamtotallynot123 i did not like it as well
@@Nevertheless196 So? That was explained in the series. Turns out techniques evolve over 70 years. As of this series, there are two known blood benders, and it's explicitly stated that only during the full moon are they strong enough.
@@TheSyncosDid the show’s writing explain how Amon could take bending away with blood bending? It was just terrible
Such an iconic show. Brilliant reaction. Really appreciate how you guys kept it light and made us laugh while acknowledging the powerful themes.
I CLICKED SO FASSSTTT! So hyped!
There are comics that are a direct continuation of the show, and in these comics you learn about what happened to Zuko‘s mom
there are comics that continue right where it left off!! i think it’s the second comic that explores zuko’s mom
She left home because she couldnt find her individuality within her group of 7 identical twin sisters but now she's part of the Kyoshi Warriors and loving it and able to see herself as her own person despite being in a set of girls
I loved this ending for her
Probably my favourite Avatar reactions start to end I've seen. And I've seen a lot haha. Great time watching your reactions!
And fuck Azula! No redemption wanted.
Azula: "No redemption given."
Words cannot describe the incandescent rage I had that evening.
every time I watch these last two episodes/watch reactions to them, the music for Zuko and Azula's duel gives me goosebumps.
Was awesome to rewatch Avatar with you guys, the only thing I enjoy more than watching it is seeing others experience it for the first time.
Such a great series. Ive seen it probably 20x times first to last. Classic
ATLA is a timeless classic for all ages that leaves you wanting for more. I am glad you both enjoyed it as much as I did and always will.
An absolutely timeless story that still holds up to if not surpasses many other series today
Be sure to check out the comics that follow this, they answer a lot of your questions about what happens after. So glad you guys reacted to this.
I had to go to my stepdads family function during the nickelodeon premiere of sozens comet and I forced them to change the channel. Hella people ended up watching the series finale w me because it was so dope!! No one else had ever seen an episode!! 😂
😂😂😂😂 Fn Diabolical mate!!
@@pabloc8808I agree 💯
@@pabloc8808aang included he was tearing down fire nation air balloons on the day of black sun 😂
Aang unlocking the avatar state and grabbing Ozai's beard, hopping up and mean mugging him, that never fails to get me hype
You start this show cursing Zuko for hounding the Avatar
By the end, you are rooting for him to change his family's destiny and steer the fire nation in the right direction. It takes some damn good writers to make you feel all of that for the same character.
What does that say for Azula?
“If this shit was called The Toph it make a lot of sense” 😭😭
“whats his excuse”
Me: Guys he was ALWAYS like this and more info read The Search (Avatar Comics) yeah trust me OZAI WAS ALWAYS LIKE THAT
That "OH SHIT" in unison was the BEST FUCKING THING EVER! It's the reaction we ALL had and it's so much fun to see you guys experience it too!
the first and last Word that speaking in the show are sooo true, 1.ITS 2.PERFECT
Such a good finale, I really hope you guys give Legend of Korra a watch as it is the direct sequel to The Last Airbender and has some great call backs to characters from the original series.
Amazing story, great conclusion to zuko and aang stories
A beautiful ending to a great animated series
After all these years this remains one of the greatest animated series of all time!
There is a comic about what happened to the mom. It's called The Search. I think you can find its summary here on RUclips.
I hope that you guys are going to do Legend of Korra next, for all its faults it’s a good and decent continuation of the series.
a very important thing about azulas character, is when all this happens, shes like 14 yeas old. thats why she breaks. shes just a kid under a literal mountain of pressure, expectation, and scrutiny
Zuko's Mom makes an appearance in the Comics. This is the only thing that gives you insight on what happened, why it happened and how it's going now.
Ending was beautiful ❤️🔥
Drew and Joe really locked in with the finale. They are seated upright and was really feeling the final fight of Aang vs Ozai and Zuko vs Azula.
ATLA will always be a top tier show ❤ When Aang got access to the Avatar state again goosebumps always.
Now you guys understand when people wanna make a movie or netflix series...we have a HIGH standard on how it should be...
Yup 100%, a show like this has to be done right for it to work down to the designs & the characters. It’s that type of show that you have to get right or just don’t do it all if you can’t ☝️
Just one small connection even if Katara wanted to blood bend she couldn't she can only do it during the full moon but everything else was in point
This show is one of the main reasons I love storytelling mahhhnnnnn
One of the Greatest Tv series of the 2000s that I was born perfectly to witness every episode of this Beauty on Nickelodeon.
" I hate when I hear music like this, cause it makes me want to be a better person " is the funniest shit I've ever heard😂😂😭😭
You could hear the dragons roar in zukos fire bending 😎
The only "hero not killing" moment I like more than this is the Daredevil finale
"You dont get to destroy who I am"
Writing a interesting and compelling character that doesnt kill is hard because a lot of people can find it annoying or lame or they know it could easily solve the conflict of the story
“No- nothin, NOTHING IS OVER” 🔥
