    One way to stop being envious is to begin practicing gratitude… Dr Lisle touched on it…do it gradually every night before bedtime come up with 3-5 things that you are grateful for that day start with simple things … then after that becomes routine and easy to come up with - try reminding yourself in the morning or at odd times during the day when something happens to go your way- say thank you to the universe… by doing this your perspective changes and envy usually goes away because the time is filled with gratitude.

    I no longer drink coffee but whenever I did drink it, it was the cheapest socialization gathering other than walking. The family or friends sitting around the table laughing and talking for hours. Coffee was also a cheaper date than a movie.

      A cup of good black coffee moves my bowels after a meal. It also helps my chronic fatigue & depression

    I absolutely loved the question about spiking - thanks to whoever asked that.
    I listen to Beat Your Genes and this episode blew my mind.
    I have been experimenting with this and definitely find it helps the restrict/binge cycle!

    I damaged my brain in a suicide attempt and became biochemically happy after. Not out of a better mindset or counseling of any kind. I just never felt sadness again even with deaths and losses.

    Exactly what dr. Peter Rogers says as well, he warns against SSRI inhibitors as after a while your brain will just start building more receptors as defense.

    It's not always about the number on the scale. Every time I see him speak, I recall a comment he made saying that a 5'2" woman weighing 127lbs is just fat and would have a protruding belly.
    You have to consider muscle vs fat mass in the body which is not determined by the scale. This is an old fashioned way of thinking. My daughter is super fit at 5'1" and weighs 125lbs. Her bodyfat % is 17- 20%. She's got nice firm flat abs and muscle throughout her body.
    Don't put everyone in the category of "being fat" by how much they weigh. That's just wrong.

      They speak of the general public, not outliers like your daughter. Remember, 40% of the US population is obese. Average people would have a touch of a belly at 5'2" and 125.

      Yes i know that a large % the US population is obese. I felt it needed to be mentioned that his comment about weighing 127lbs and being fat is insensitive and not always true. If he had said a woman at 227lbs then I can't argue that. I'm not referring to the obese population. 127lbs is not obese and the truth is that the scale is not always a measure of body composition (fat/muscle) ​@ebirch90

    Yes AJ make a "Dr. Doug a Day" calandar with a different spoiled cat photo each day and of course a quote that "Dr. Doug says...." 😆 the cat phots would have to be Dr Doug approved.

    What does Dr. Lisle feel about decaf coffee? Decaf coffee drinkers are true coffee lovers, cause we are drinking it for the flavour, not the caffeine.

    I love Dr. Lisle, but he occasionally blows past important things in the questions. The gal whose boyfriend said veganism is a cult said that her boyfriend moved in with her b/c he had nowhere to go. RED FLAG!!! This guy is a bum and a mooch, more than likely. His not liking vegan food is THE LEAST of her problems.
    Like, is this boyfriend of hers working? Is he helping pay the bills? You shouldn’t move in with someone (other than a platonic roommate) b/c you have nowhere else to go, or you want to save money on living expenses. Moving in together is akin to getting married, and this guy sounds like the world’s worst husband.
    She should dump his sorry butt and get her vegan kitchen back. The young people today have to deal with men not acting like men and stepping up and providing. Even if both work, it’s an attitude of providing that you’re looking for, not an attitude of gimme, gimme, gimme from a man.

      We would assume then that the guy is quite a bit more physically attractive than the girl. If she is willing to do all that for him, that is HER subjective cost benefit analysis and entirely valid, reasonable, sane and legitemate. She isn't forced to do it, she is effectively; trading. Mostly it would be the other way around in terms of male/female dynamics, but sometimes not.

      If women want traditional treatment such as a man that provides financially; then they better be traditional women. Ie: Virgins or near virgins, young, kind, obedient.
      They also better be into age gap relationships. Because quite frankly Millennial and Gen Z “men” don’t have their act together financially or emotionally.

      The prerequisite for traditional treatment from men (a provider) is that you’re a traditional woman. Ie: a submissive thin debt free \/irgin without tattoos.

    Re the 'envy' question. If you are envious of someone else's job (lower hours/more pay) it helps to consider their life overall eg are they a bit dull/unintelligent, unattractive, have a less desirable partner or obnoxious kids, additionsl responsibilities etc. Would you want to do a straight 'trade'? In most cases you likely wouldn't.
    Also is your job 'meaningful' or impactfull (but lower paid) and you get job satisfaction... and maybe theirs isn't particularly.

    A particular distorsion Linked with many wholesome traditions and rituals from ages ago. If correctly contextualized, many consciousness distorsion drugs have its place.

    Also, on his comment on any substances such as lavender.....food is a substance. Many people have reactions to food they may not even realize....even "healthy" foods can cause low level chronic inflammation. So do we just live on sunshine and air?

      If you are talking about dips…. I use cut up strips of Bell Peppers, cucumbers, carrots, sometimes thin pieces of Broccoli, zucchini strips (not too long though b/c they get limp when long) ….

    I think the confusing part for some of us is that the different doctors say different things. Dr. Goldner says to eat flax and chia and that those fats don’t become fat on the body, rather that they go to healing the body. Dr. Fuhrman also recommends flax and chia but in smaller amounts than Dr. G. How do we know which is the best option?

      Dr. Peter Rogers who is a also a master in biochemistry (ended highest of his year at Stanford) says all fat block the 3rd proton pump of our mitochondria. Now this isn't perse a problem when you eat low fat (only the fat from vegetables and fruits) but still. He also does videos on youtube. In short, you don't need the fat from chia and flax as the same omega 3s are in vegetables and fruits.
