    “Don’t spread the word” is the first thing I learned. I only talk about it if asked. No one still eating junk wants to hear about it.

    My husband and I have been eating this way for 6 years. I'm at a point where cooking like this is so easy. I can often take a traditional recipe & turn it WFPB. That chicken & rice casserole recipe can be made with brown rice instead of white. The chicken can be replaced with white beans. The cream of mushroom soup is replaced with a creamy homemade cashew sauce & sautéed fresh or frozen mushrooms. The butter or oil isn't necessary. Given enough seasonings, you don't need it.

    I jumped in with both feet. I went cold turkey to avoid all animal products. I don't regret that, but I was overwhelmed as I didn't know how to make meals without those products. I am 72 and married over 40 years. My husband didn't want to join me, yet he does like what I make and eats much, much less animal products now. He is very supportive, too, thankfully. I was so overwhelmed at first that I wouldn't go anywhere because I was reading and watching videos to learn for about 2 months. It's been 11 months now, and I feel very confident and blessed to have changed to eat this way. I love food and cooking more than ever. I had gluten intolerance for 22 yrs but now can eat sourdough bread and noodles from Italy. No more gut pain or reflux. My advice to others is to watch Well Your World and read Dr. Mcdougall's book plus a few documentaries. Start with breakfasts, and then lunches and then dinners. I printed some of my favorites and put them in a notebook with dividers for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack and desserts. I can make notes on them, too.

    #5 is so frustrating. Many RUclips plant based shows try to replicate dishes made with unhealthy ingredients. I always wonder why. They also focus on high density recipes such as cakes and desserts.
    I finally found a down to earth show that helps me eat healthy food without long cooking hours. Thanks

    Hello! My biggest mistake was buying too much produce thinking I was going to cook/make it all before it went bad. I had to learn to simplify my batch cooking. Five meal rotation is a great idea!
    Also don’t be afraid to BUY TIME using well your world products!! I haven’t bought anything I haven’t loved from WYW. Thank you Dillion and Reebs!

      Me too trying to buy all these fresh veggies and fruit for recipes keep getting bad cause some times I don't feel like cutting them up or cooking or I forget to eat the fruit I have out. I have arthritis and fibro and a bad back and neck so I can't stand to long or chop things holding a knife its painfull 😬 so I just buy frozen veggies and fruit or all ready chopped up veggies and fruit . It's a little more expensive though but at least I'm not wasting them.

    If I am going to eat out (eg because I forgot to pack a lunch or want to for the friends aspect), I have learned to ALWAYS go online and pick out what I will eat well before getting to the restaurant.

    I started succeeding when I simplified my meals and prep. I really couldn't handle too many decisions at all. Every morning became steel-cut oats with berries or a banana. Every lunch became either soup and a salad or chili and a salad and I have designated bowls with covers so I can bring those to work and not spill. Plus, I have a square insulated bag from the grocery store and it fits my 2 bowls perfectly, so once again I don't have to think. Snacks for me are fruit and my cheat snacks are 100-calorie pretzels or lightly salted rice cakes or 5-calorie miracle noodles with tomato sauce. Dinner is the only meal I have to think about but I make it on Sunday and put 2 servings in the freezer and the rest in the fridge. My backup meals, in case I fail to make any thing are Plant Strong chilis and Amy's low-fat soup (which has too much sodium but it tastes good and is low fat and low calorie)

    I came home from work starved and didn't have anything. Cut up bell pepper and onion..sauted then added frozen potatoes. Quick and easy

      I did almost the same thing today! Frozen bell peppers and frozen onion in a pan, add a can of beans, a bag of frozen rice, and some taco seasoning! Happened to have some salsa and was so excited to be making the choices I want to make! It's helpful for me to hear others doing the same thing - thanks!

    My biggest mistake was compromising my health and values due to other people. I was trying to people please and not inconvenience them.
    Often, others are upset thar I can't or won't eat what they made. I often bring my own food and tell them I am here to see them, not what they made to eat.
    Not compromising my health helps me stay on track.

    Eating enough is something I still struggle with. I am WFPB 100% now, but so eager to lose weight that I find it hard to stop counting calories and restricting. I am often very hungry, especially in the afternoon and at bed time, but I tell myself I have to use willpower to ignore it. I then start dreaming about junk: "Maybe a little treat is okay at the weekend". For decades I've been binge-then-restrict; losing weight then gaining it back. Hearing you talk about eating enough has helped 🙂. I might even be brave enough to delete my calorie spreadsheet! I'm looking forward to next Friday's show. Thank you.

    I have made the potatoe corn chowder and it is the bomb! Made it last night with the wyw vegetable broth mix and oh my goodness, the flavor is amazing! So freakin good! Had leftover chowder for lunch! Two large bowls and it tasted even better! My husband loved it! My new go to meal! Thanks Reebs and Dillion ❤️❤️❤️

    I'm 23 years WFPB no-oil, rarely use salt or rocessed sugar. Easy....but I seldom do a prep day. I make big pots of food and have a standalone freezer that's usually full. I have hundred of printed recipes, more in my email box, a zillion in my Favorites, and even MORE in file folders on my computer. Asudevfrom about a hundred super fans. I seldom make the same things. I love to keep making new recipes even of old favorites. I'm not creative but I enjoy other people's creativity!

      Right on! I like the way you think. You've got me by 18 years, as I just hit the five-year mark of eating WFePB (whole-foods, entirely plant-based). I am a total batch cooker. I cook a fast meal on Saturday afternoons, where the fun and challenge is to try to make something that takes as little time as possible, with the goal of keeping it within 90 minutes, from the time I step foot into my kitchen until everything is entirely done. This meal will be my dinner for Saturday, a brunch on Sunday, and then breakfasts for the rest of the work week (I like dinner foods for breakfasts). Then, on Sunday afternoons, I make a more in-depth meal, which will be my dinner for that day and then dinners for the whole entire work week. I invested in two sets of Pyrex storage containers made of glass, with the plastic lids. They do a fabulous job of keeping my leftovers fresh for that entire week. I, too, usually make something different each week. I'm always working on recipes. Hey, I LOVE to cook, what can I say -- but I know myself, and I know that I'm not going to want to cook after work. This arrangement, like I said, has been working great for five years now. 😄

    I agree 100%. I am the cook of our family. They eat standard American, but I tweak it. They all lost weight. They did not support my diet and it's hard to eat the way I like and stick to it because I am traveling more and restaurants don't have a lot of options. When I do eat that food I pay for it the next day! It's hard for me

      I have learned the hard way to pack food for travel that I can eat. I eat gluten free and it can be hard to find suitable foods while on the road. I got used to it and now it’s part of any trip planning, and I pop into grocery stores to top up with canned beans, ready to eat tofu and veggies. I hope you can find strategies that work for you! Don’t give up, it just takes planning and effort to make it a new habit.

      Chipotle has been so helpful to me when I'm really in a bind (like at the airport or something). Not pretending it's perfect, but it can be great when I'm stuck! But I'm pretty new to this so maybe I'll get better at doing the hardest things over time :)

    One of your best videos! I’ve been doing this for 12 years, slowly figuring it out. I’ve made every mistake you’ve brought up, and still fall back into them from time to time. My favorite advice is making food more simple, and not needing for meals to satisfy urges for the old omnivore meals. It’s a real evolution

    This is my first time here. I have made some of these mistakes. Originally, my husband and I said we would not tell anyone however, we did. I do regret that we have told most of our friends that we are eliminating meat from our diet; lesson learned. I am the cook and am learning about WFPB meals. I have liked, subscribed and hit the bell for more content. Again, thank you!

    I WISH my problem was not eating enough calories! I helped a lot of health issues but it's so hard for me to lose weight! I've been WFPB for over 12 years following the principles of calorie density, never use oils, don't eat sweets, and though I lost over 100lbs initially, I'd still love to lose 50 more. It's so frustrating to see how you guys and others eat, and hear about pounding starch, my favorite.

      Sometimes you still need to eat more to kick in the loss. Someone else may have a better solution, but I’d start by upping foods with high fiber/water content. ie, eat what you normally would, then finish the meal with something high in fiber/water. Your body may still be storing and you may have to tell it everything is ok by eating more.

      I don’t know why but something Dr. Gregor said help simplify the meal planning and helped me lose weight, he said instead of having a bowl of rice or something else with some vegetables in it, we have a bowl of vegetables And oh look, there’s some rice in it and some beans and maybe some seeds or nuts. Framing it in that way helps us to psychologically make the vegetables the centerpiece of the meal. Maybe that will help.

    My problem was your #1 point.
    I didn't eat enough because I went cold turkey Dr Esselstyn Reversal overnight, with my husband.
    Lost too much weight too fast IMO.
    NEED reminder to eat more calories daily.
    Now I'm trying to build muscle with exercises. 🙂👍

    you are absolutely correct!!! It happened today. I had planned food yesterday and then nothing for today. I should have grabbed some WYW products and thrown together a one dish meal but I am stressed today and working a lot of overtime and didn't take the time. Well I grabbed something I should not have. My husband does not eat plant based and his food is sitting there. I can normally handle until I am stressed, hungry and pressed for time!!

    What a valuable video!!! Whatever diet people are--planning is the key. I love the idea to have favorite meals on the pantry or the fridge doors! And yes, to keep up with enough calories- will lead any person to his/ her goal!

    my mistakes were not batchcooking/cooking extras, not mealprepping...indeed broadcasting too much. Starting too complicated with recipes while I should have started simpler. I spend way too long in the kitchen because of that in the beginning. Also trying to be too perfect in the beginning and not giving myself time and gentleness. But that is also who I am haha😂 Anyways 5 years amd still going strong! love it!

    Dillon and Reebs are not paying me to say this: But they are 100% right in that after some time, you will stop craving all those bad foods you once ate. For five years now, I have been whole-foods, entirely plant-based. I describe what I eat as in the style of primarily Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn with a nice dollop of Dr. John McDougall thrown in, as well. I LOVE to cook, even though I'm not particularly skilled at it, so I virtually never go out to eat, choosing to make all my meals instead. I don't remember exactly when it happened, but maybe after a few months or so is when I noticed that I started craving all the new plants and complex carbohydrates (aka starches) that had become my food-consumption norm. Trust me, I know in those early days you'll be thinking to yourself, "There's no way I'm not ever going to NOT crave my beloved cheeses and such," but it honestly happens. Just relax and give it a little time. 😃

      Agree! Even though I’m only cooking for myself, I make huge batches of everything I make so that I can have leftovers and so that I can use it from meal to meal and so that I can put it in the freezer for a day I don’t feel like cooking or get home starving.

    In my 2 yr plant based eating journey….. I discovered for me it never was the taste of “meat” but the herbs and seasoning you put on it!!! That is what makes it yummy…..putting it on tofu or cauliflower satisfies the flavor profile I thought I missed in meat!!!
    I totally agree with the cheese comment….hardest part to give up, but waiting it out then later down the plant base road trying to make vegan cheese sauce is the best way to do it!!!

    My bigggest mistake is spreading the word too lol. Nobody cares, they don’t wanna hear it, in fact they get really defensive AND offensive and you become totally isolated from anyone you’re trying to help. Just let them do what they want, you’ll be here healthier and longer

      I mind my own business, UNLESS some asks me why I'm vegan then I'll gently share and let them know that if they every want to talk more I'm available. Otherwise even just mentioning that I eat vegan gets some folks very defensive (maybe guilt talking?) and it's downhill from there.

    I really appreciate your videos and how you tell it like it is! I have been striving to be plant based/vegan for 2 1/2 years ever since I had a 99% blockage in my widow maker artery at age 60. The first six months I was very strict and went crazy trying to make all kinds of recipes. Finally my husband asked if I could just make the several dishes that we enjoyed and forget about the “experiments”. Your recipes are some of our favorites and I appreciate how simple they are to make. Your videos are also very motivating. Lately I have been straying from this lifestyle and need to get back to the basics and cutting out some of the foods that have crept back into my diet. Watching your videos helps me to do that. I recently bought some of your products to help make prep even easier. Thank you for all you do to support those of us who need to eat this way for continued health.

    Definitely my biggest mistake was broadcasting my new lifestyle to family and friends because I was so excited about how great I felt and I was just sure they would see the light! Now, I really try to avoid those conversations!! Great tips!

    My biggest mistake was trying 2-3 new, complicated recipes EVERY DAY! And having to buy special ingredients that I never even heard of. I became frustrated and discouraged. When Dr. Mcdougall said to keep it simple and that it was OK to eat your favorite foods over and over, it was a tremendous relief. Now, I only try a new recipe about once a month. And if it has ingredients I never heard of, I skip it.

    Even after 1 yr 3 months, I still struggle to make healthy meals that both of us will eat. My husband isn’t totally sold on wfpb meal system, but he eats this way for me. So I try to cook something that is wfpb that he will eat also. And I use ALOT of your recipes from your cookbooks. Thank you

    After 40 lb weight loss and much better bloodwork, Thinking I could start adding back some oils, etc. immediately felt crappy.. so back to simple eating. It’s not a diet. It’s a way of life.

    I’ve been eating this way for 4 years and still make the mistake of not eating enough food. I had a small breakfast yesterday. I’m a teacher and had to administer our state’s End of Grade test yesterday. I couldn’t eat for 3 hours and almost fainted. (Teachers cannot eat in the testing environment.) Always have a fruit available because you’ll get hungrier quicker eating this way despite eating a lot of food.

    Some of the recreating can happen just by bringing your spices out. For instance, I used to love tacos and meat chili but both of those I can just use a bean base and ad taco seasoning or chili seasoning and I keep what I missed.

    I agree that it takes time to not crave foods. I used to enjoy chips, crackers, etc and now I could care less. Same thing with the alternative meat/cheese products. It was a good stepping stone, but don’t care for those either anymore.

    I am brand new at this and have made all the mistakes you just covered and some... Raw, vegan, plant-based...If I just knew what to eat, it would be so much easier. Seems like what one vegan eats, another will not eat and so forth. Corn, rice, tortillas, certain seasonings, which tortilla chips, etc., etc., etc., what is vegan and what is not?

      Maybe this will help. I tell people I'm not technically vegan -- I'm WFePB (whole-foods, entirely plant-based). I say that everything I eat, right down to the last crumb, a vegan can eat. But not everything a vegan would eat, I would necessarily eat. What this means is that a vegan might eat those vegan sausages or those vegan cheeses or those vegan Impossible burgers or Oreo cookies, or potato chips, and so on. I would NOT eat any of those things, and that's because they're full of oils and sodium and processed sugars. Veganism is technically a moral stance and has nothing to do with one's health. But someone who is WFePB, on the other hand, they not only stay away from ALL animal products, they also stay away from all cooking oils, keep a very close eye on total daily fats (keeping fat consumption in the range of 10% of all daily calories), keep things as sodium-free as possible, and try to avoid excessive amounts of processed sugars. To get you started, I would recommend two books: "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease," by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn; and "The Starch Solution," by Dr. John McDougall. (You can find both of those books on Amazon for only a few bucks.) And watch a bunch of these "Well Your World" videos. Dillon and Reebs are all about making this way of eating simple by offering easy meals to make that are delicious, filling, and of course, nutritious. Good luck. If you stick with it and get the feel of it, this way of eating will become second nature; I guarantee it. 😃

      @@Jim_L Thanks so much for replying. WFePB sounds like what I've been doing. I have eliminated sugars (as far as I know). Not sure how much natural sugars from fruit is too much. Would pure maple sugar and raw honey be okay in smoothies? I will definitely look into those books. I have been pre-diabetic for 2 years and definitely want to do this for my health. Again thanks so much for the recommendations.

      @@juanitaevans2715 Hey, you bet -- you're welcome. I am not a doctor, so keep that in mind. But it is my understanding that the sugars you get in whole fruits (not fruit juices) is nothing we need to be concerned about, because when you're eating the fruit, you're getting all the fiber surrounding those sugars. Personally, if I were to make a smoothie, I'd just skip the maple syrup entirely. The fruits should make the smoothie sweet enough. But if you really need more sweetness, then so many WFePBers like adding medjool dates to things. As far as your pre-diabetes is concerned, if you make the switch to eating this way, you should easily eliminate your pre-diabetes. Even the vast majority of folks with full-blown Type 2 diabetes who start eating this way completely get off insulin. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. Here's another WFePB RUclipsr who you might get into. His hero is Dr. Joel Fuhrman, but quite honestly, all the iconic plant-based medical doctors all pretty much advocate the same eating style, with only slight differences. This RUclipsr is HappyVeganEating. He once had concerning health issues, made the switch, and has never felt better. He's all about cooking your own foods.     Thank you , I like , and agree with all you said. I am trying wfpb, spouse not at all, I'm a diabetic, I can not eat a lot of starches, I'm always hungry, is there a solution for a diabetic to thrive on a wfpb diet.

    My biggest mistake was thinking I could still prepare meals using all the old foods for my family while I ate the "new" way. Nope. Invariably, I'd get tired, unprepared, and give in to cravings. It has to be out of the house and now I let them add things to the base meal I've created. And even those things are healthier than they used to be. (But it's still always the fat that they want to add.)

    I don't know if this is a mistake, exactly, but maybe in some ways? I went WFPB very gradually, over a year or two, and I wish I had done it overnight. I didn't have any health problems or extra weight or "bad" numbers that I could point to, but I'm sure I would have noticed a huge change in how I felt if I had done it quickly. I think easing into it works for some people, but I also think there are people who would be more likely to stick with it if they could see a dramatic difference in how they feel after only a few days or weeks.

    Wonderful video and I've made all of those mistakes and are still making them. I do pretty good for 3 or 4 days and then I get so weak and so tired then all I want to do is sleep. I am taking good supplements for B12 from compliment and extra vitamin d but I'm not see 0:04 seeing the results I would like. I've lost a few pounds this last week but I need to lose 20 lb according to my doctor or she's going to force the issue of medication. She put me on metformin once before and I said no I wasn't going to take it. And now she's talking about many other pills that are available and I resisting so she gave me 6 months to change my lifestyle and change my numbers. I have spent so much on trying to make this lifestyle change I just can't see spending more but I know it's the best way to live. I just can't eat enough to make it work.

    I’ve been on a month and sugar sweets are the worst craving for me. Also those granola bars with peanuts are a weakness I try to have fruit but the cravings are real and hard to break. I’m sure you have a video somewhere about that I have not found yet.

    I think another mistake is trying to do it “perfectly” whatever you think that is. Puts too much pressure on you. I’ve eaten this way almost 12 years.

    I have been working with WFPB diet for about 15 months now. My purpose is because of my health issues. I got sidetracked with "Vegan" commercial products that look and taste a lot like cheese and meat. My health took a turn for the worse. Stick with Whole Food.
