  • EDITED: This campground is now under new ownership and has a new manager. They are working hard to repair the damage done by the previous owner and manager, and they welcomed us out over Labor Day weekend 2021. We are very excited for the future of this campground, now called Meadows of San Juan. If you left a poor review back in the summer of 2020 for what was then Montrose San-Juan, we highly encourage you to please go back and amend your review. Let's support the new owners and help make this campground a success! Thank you for the support you showed us during this crazy time in 2020, and your support now for this new campground in 2021. - Jason and Abby
    We got kicked out of a campground for receiving a FedEx package!
    After almost four years on the road, we have finally met a campground that is so out-of-control with its rules, rules that are beyond the norm, that we unknowingly broke a rule and got kicked out for it.
    On 7/29/2020 we received a package from FedEx which was in violation of campground rules, a rule that was on page FOUR of the rules under long term residence (a section we didn't read because we were only there for six nights). This is not the first time people have been kicked out of this campground, not the first time the cops have been called to monitor people's removal. This campground is apparently notorious in the community for being "the worst."
    It will be a long time before we make peace with the stress and fear they placed in our son. We did our best to make sure he understood he was safe, we were safe, and that our home could easily move quickly, but it was a hard night for him. We can let everything else go, we can laugh at the situation, but it's hard to stomach what Tom did to our kid.
    We HIGHLY encourage you to avoid the Montrose San-Juan campground in Montrose, Colorado, and instead visit one of the several other campgrounds in the area. You all deserve better, we deserve better, and that campground deserves a manager that isn't Tom.
    Be well!

    Hey folks, just a quick update to say that this park has been sold and is under new management. We've spoken with the new owners, a campground management company with several properties. They seem like nice folks, and in the right hands, this might be a nice park to stay in now in the Montrose/Black Canyon area. It's now called "Meadows of San Juan: meadowsofsanjuan.com/

      i know this to be true because it is the only explanation for such an over-reaction. there are three kinds of camphosts in the world.
      1. most abundant by far- helpful and pleasant and friendly.
      2. distant and unfriendly and unhelpful. very rare.
      3. the one we have here, the campground nazi. not as rare as wd would like to think. this type has three main subgroups:
      a) the downtrodden, bitter, slave-wage, yet power-hungry employee of an absentee for-profit vendor in national forest campgrounds etc.
      b) the WAY overly-enthusiastic, well-meaning, by-the-book, new volunteer camp host, maybe with a newly-unearthed pleasure in being 'a boss'.
      and c) the one we seem to have here- the dreaded privately owned campground owner who operates on the personal philosophy of 'my house my rules, this is ALL MINE, we are IN CHARGE, don't make any false moves, YOU are here to OBEY US, MINE MINE MINE!!'. in sum, the slumlord mentality.
      i have seen my share of all these types. i actually have a friend who was a type #2. i run from type #3.

Not because you went outside the gate and met the Fedex driver to get your package. I have been a camp host for years in National parks. The police were called after the gentlemen went to the office, but who in their right mind wouldn't go to the office to try to work it out. If no packages were allowed, it should have been clearly stated in the rules for all campers, not buried on page 4 for Long Term Residents. This is an issue that can be verified that by the reviews prior to 7/29/2020 on YELP. Just investigate before you leave nasty comments about someone you do not personally know. When he received the package off of campground property, that violated his tyrannical decree and resulted in the eviction.

      You got it! We can evict, but if the tenant does not leave, then you have to go through the court system. Plus you HAVE to give a 3 day notice!
      The police here don't just come out to aid an eviction.
      You have to get a writ of possession (after an eviction process if the tenant still does not leave), then 48 hours after that, the police will escort the tenant off.

    • @RVMiles
      @RVMiles  4 года назад

The villain here is the park owner and they are getting plenty of revenge with this video via our reactions. What was unfair, unneeded and frail was calling the sheriff and having 3 sheriffs roll up on the kids unexpectedly for receiving a package outside of the property. They never broke any rules. That rule is CLEARLY for long term stays, not short term stays. Listed out in the agreement. What is frail, unfair and unneeded is you projecting fault onto these parents and including their children. Casting dark aspersion onto their parenting. Hope you find a channel that lets you do that because its not here and it won't go unchecked.

      ummmm . .. lol . . this isn't another view point. This is THE point they made in the video. They said, and admitted, it was their fault for have a package mailed. However, they didn't receive the package on property. They clearly stated, and I mean CLEARLY, that they reviewed the website which is where we always look when traveling and they agreement in short term. It was a LONG term stay rule. NOT a short term. Yes you are right, calling the police over a rule that was NEVER broken is excess. The rule was ONLY for long term, written right in the agreement that is published. Where are you getting that they said it was a silly rule and doesn't apply to them? WOW. It trips me out how people just conflate stories to meet their bias. Its an interesting psychological profile.

    Sorry you had to go through this experience and thanks for posting it. I have gone back to my rv owners group and made sure it was posted there too. Awful experience for the children and really no rule was technically broken as no packaged was delivered on their property. I have subscribed to you you tube channel and will be supporting you! Put these jerks in your review mirror.

    OH EM GEE!!! That's all I can say. Thank you for giving us the heads-up on this. I'm happy to hear that the park is under new management. However, I'm sure there are other campgrounds that we need to be cautious of- and make sure we read the small print on the back of page 7, lol.

    Not only will I not stay at this campground - even if it were the last place on Earth - I will make sure I tell every single person within earshot of this horrific story. I honestly wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. But alas, as we all know, there are pieces of sh*t in every venue and in every corner of the world! Be well, and know we're behind you 100%!

    Sorry to hear about this experience. Howver, I thank you for bring this out and naming the campground. We need to always name the campgrounds and /or RV dealers where the experiences were non professional and just plain wrong. I will pass this name on to other rvers I know to make sure they are aware. Best regards, Bob

    There is a lot of camp grounds like this but it is their private property where you can be asked to leave; or be escorted out... I agree that you have a recourse on the value of remaining days and they can withhold for breach of contract (Your stay) since you did not adhere to their terms of service. Let it go and move on!

    • @danishknight2798
      @danishknight2798 4 года назад

      This is not a Landlord vs Tenant dispute as there is not like a 3+ month (Some states 6 or 12 month required) lease agreement but a simple agreement of services where you can stay temporarily.

    What if it was life saving daily medication needed for a serious genetic disease being delivered by your medical drug plan! That moron manager had no idea what it was and you were not extended stay so that rule did not apply to you. Wow, maybe you should write a letter to the owners? He is only a manager. I will post this link at my camping Facebook groups. Have fun, the next place will be a blessing . Best Wishes.

    ...I will NEVER visit. And I am subscribing to your channel, to hopefully learn manners and etiquette from your family. Thank you!
