I prefer to have a curated collection with only the movies I truly care about on my shelf. I refuse to buy things I don’t want so I can have the privilege of buying something I do want. Still waiting for that standalone Taxi Driver release…
Yeah same here. I bought the Columbia Presents 2 4k box set when it was on sale purely for Taxi Driver but haven’t opened yet just in case a stand-alone release is around the corner,
Don't worry, The Exorcist and Enter the Dragon UHD are 100% coming out separately, in special editions, steelbooks and maybe fullslips with cards and such, by August or a bit later. I know a guy working on film releases and he told me so. So at least these teo, and likely all of them. It's Warner, they've released each of these films 5-25 times... 🤣
Not a bad option if you're new to 4k. I hope they will offer a smaller box with the new releases like Sony does with the Columbia Classics. 5 new titles to 4k we'd all be happy to pick it up
Agree 100%! I won’t pick it up…unless It drops the price by 75%. And I think WB wasn’t thinking when they did this. My thought is it was an afterthought-a realization of a 100 years. The WB most likely said just throw what we have in a box set and label it as a special presentation. WB most likely said put all our leftover 4k’s in a box and roll this set out
I find it amazing that they've done this, I collect boutique releases, but have never spent more than £75 on a single release (I think for Fassbinder Arrow Academy box set). I cannot work out who their audience is, most normal people won't have £300 to drop on a set of disconnected, random films. With the state of this economy, my spending habits have gone down, I can't imagine this selling well at all...
I'm not buying it! I think it's as close to a sure thing as anything that a 4K release of "The Exorcist" (1973) will be released separately. It will probably be around the same time as the new sequel "The Exorcist" which is to be released on Friday the 13th of October, 2023.
I agree with you. I am waiting for titles like Deliverance, Amadeus, Eyes Wide Shut, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Freaks, Man on the Moon, After Hours, JFK, Dog Day Afternoon etc.
You’re reaction is justified. It might make sense for some (like me) who still only have blu-rays, digital &/or DVDs of these to do a bulk upgrade, but it’s pricey if you’ve kept up with these individually. The cardboard sleeves stink. It’s what they did for their 100 Years blu-ray set. At least those were side-loading, not lop loading (in terms of dust collection). This wisely breaks the collection into 4 parts instead of two enormous 25-movie books
I would be shocked if The Exorcist doesn't get a separate release in a few months. People have been clamoring for that to be on 4K for a long long time and WB knows the demand is there.
the exorcist is a day one pick up its my favorite horror movie of all time i have owned it on pretty much every format but if it was an exclusive i would still pass
They're also releasing three £50 4k collection sets for 'Classic Hollywood', 'New Hollywood' and 'Modern Blockbusters' - each of which only come with a handful of the movies from the bigger £300 release, rather than all from each period. I get that getting those three would make it £150, so a lot cheaper than the bigger set and therefore less movies, but it's still so confusing. Why not three £100 sets and anyone with gaps in their collection/affinity for an era can get those?
100% with you on this one, the proposed set is a massive disappointment as I already own so many of the movies. The inclusion of a set of badges reminds me of the Beatles releases a few years ago when a button badge was a novelty, or the Pink Floyd 'Immersion' boxes with a bag or marbles. I will hold out for individual 4K releases to plug the gaps but, at present, I am not looking to spend £300 for another box with poor disc storage.
I'm on the same page with you. I am not getting this set. I have own some of the titles on 4K that are on that set. But some I haven't own that I'll probably get them separate. Like you said, I wish the box set would have just the films that are brand new on the 4K format. And we know some of the titles are getting a stand alone edition like The Exorcist for example. I also don't like the idea that Rio Bravo and East of Eden are exclusive. I don't know about here in the states that we are getting an individual release of those two films. But saying exclusive on UK had me worried if they are exclusive here in the states as well. So yeah I won't be purchasing the set.
I have looked at the 30-disc big box and see the collection is structured as Classic Hollywood 1930s to 1960s, New Hollywood 1970s to 1980s and Modern Blockbusters 1990s to today ... but here's the oddity, Warners are also selling individual 4K sets using the same three titles. Classic comprises 5 movies from the 10 in the big box, New Hollywood comprises 3 movies from the big box but throw in 'The Lost Boys' and 'Gremlins'. Modern Blockbusters comprises 5 movies from the big box. Very odd.
just bought the box set using your link so enjoy the extra quids mate! it's a bit igh but this set unlike the columbia's set is actually a good amount of greats films! i have about 4 or 5 of the movies in this set in 4k but i'll sell those to my friend who's also just getting into collecting 4k discs so win win. looking forward to this set and happy warner bros are doing stuff like this unlinke disney
Spot on with your thoughts. Warner is really shooting themselves in the foot with this set. They could have done their own version of the Columbia sets and they would have sold very well. Instead, we’re getting overstock with a handful of new items. Pffft!
Rio Bravo not getting a stand alone would be idiotic. Liberty Valance 4k sold really well for Paramount. And yes this release is so lame with all the movies mot of us already have. I mean hell they should have done a release of 10 for just westerns. Rio Bravo, Wild Bunch, Pale Rider for starters. WTF WB
There are so many Golden Age Warner Bros. classics missing, IT IS RIDICULOUS! Just an example of many: how about a 4K Blu ray of two Errol Flynn/Raoul Walsh classics, "They Died With Their Boots On" and "Gentleman Jim."
Those movies are mostly only going to be of interest to film fanatics, not the general consumer. Therefore I highly doubt they would ever get a 4k release. I don't think Warner is going to put effort and money into releasing such a random title on 4k that the average consumer probably has never heard of. I'm sure those movies are readily available through their "Warner Archive Collection" on DVD and Blu Ray. A side note, as someone who still occasionally buys DVDs/Blu Rays, I don't see the big appeal of 4k. Im perfectly satisfied with DVDs/Blu Rays. In fact, I think we're lucky we have distributors who are still releasing physical media, so I'm not complaining.
@@Nosferigatoni I have all the Flynn movies already that's not what we were talking about, we were talking about releasing those two on 4k. As for not many knowing these films, who cares, it's their loss.
@@joebloggs8636 huh?.. I too was talking about the release of those two films on 4k. And I was making a point regarding lesser known films like those two, which Warner will likely never release on 4k for reasons I stated above. Thanks for not understanding my comment and also adding nothing to the conversation.
In France where I live they do even more shit like this, like the Hitchcock volume 2 on 4k doesn’t exist here, we got the same as the volume 1 then one year later or smthing they released a more expensive 4k collection w/ the first 4 movies and all the ones added in volume 2 but without having a separate release for the people that bought the first volume so we have to spend 100 bucks to get these films and are punished for buying the first boxset These releases rly just discourage people from buying physical media
Totally agree with this. WBs truly disrespecting the exact people that this set should be aimed at. Honestly fail to see the strategy here, unless it’s completely cynical in making folks pay through the nose for a handful of set-exclusive films.
Apparently they also announced a "100th 25 Film Collection Volume Four: Thrillers, Sci-Fi, and Horror" which includes movies that are also in this set. Very bizarre move.
If the films in the set had been new to 4k, films like "Them!", "Murder Incorporated (The Enforcer)," " Dirty Harry", "Mystery of the Wax Museum" (either version), "The Hanging Tree" etc I would bite but not a box set when most are already available.....
Agree with all of this. What are they thinking ? The target audience has to be niche of a niche of a niche. If this were any other branded box set, I could go along with it - maybe they want to shift some stock or extract additional income from packaging collectors (easy prey). But for a 100th anniversary set, this feels so cheap and lazy. WB have such a rich (and much wanted) catalog, it makes this feel like even more of a missed opportunity. We're into the 7th year of this format and so many titles are still missing - L.A. Confidential, The Color Purple, Amadeus, One flew over the cuckoos nest, Eyes Wide Shut, Barry Lyndon to name a few. If it's a money thing (WB not in a good place I hear), for the love of all that is decent, licence these out to boutiques.
Perhaps I am of the target audience for this set. I have only recently gotten into 4K and I have none of these titles on 4K. I probably won't get it though. The set in general seems to be something to put out because WB wants to have a set like Columbia does. But they didn't care enough to go all out on it, given the limited number of people purchasing it no matter what it contained. Putting in a lot more new material (or new movies on 4k) wouldn't drive up sales enough.
Little bit of stole valour in this set with Citizen Kane and Shawshank not being Warner Bros productions and just ones the swooped up the home video rights in recent years. Kind of undermines the idea of it being a celebration of Warner Bros.
I can see Scalpers buying them and trying to resell at up to £400. But your right, there is no market for this set in its current form, they have got it totally wrong. Like you I spend a fortune on 4K, but I won't be adding this. I can wait as long as it takes until they are forced to release them individually. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
The only movie I have in physical format from this set is The Matrix. I hope this gets released in the US too. The sleeves are a problem. Universal did this with The Mummy Trilogy, and they always come scratched from sliding around in there. Terrible packaging.
Final Analysis, Other People’s Money, Richie Rich, Dennis the Manace, Burglar, Night Watch with Elizabeth Taylor and many Films are not even on Blu ray. Not on Warner Archive either. The Mask, Eyes Wide Shut ( some people claim that this film would not work on 4k. I don’t know if it is true ) Cobra need a 4k release.
Exorcist and enter the dragon 4ks have already 100% been announced for this year. But yes i hear what ur saying about the 2 exclusives east of eden and rio bravo.
Yes it's a con - I agree with what you said should be new films to 4k not re-issues - Why not films such as Adventures of Robin Hood ; The Last Samurai ; Sergeant York; Dial M for Murder; The Searchers; Cheyenne Autumn; The Outlaw Josey Wales ; the Life of Brian and lots lots more
I'm also not sure who this set is for, but as a gift for someone who doesn't already have any or most of them, and is therefore not a collector, and doesn't care about special features, because another thing wrong with it, that you didn't mention, is they're all missing second discs or BDs, that have all the extras. There're only audio commentaries here. If I ever buy it on 50% sale, is only for the packaging, I love cardboard digibooks.
I agree with much of what you say. I skipped the columbia sets because they have movies I will never want. Not being a set for 1 or 2 movies . I cant stand the sleeves either. What also bothers me is that WB consistently does 4k restoration very well. Bright side I do think the set will come down in price in a big way in time.
To me, this is a big let down ! On hearing about this boxset, I thought of all the great Warner Brothers films we could be getting new to the 4k format. How about the film that heralded the sound era "The Jazz Singer" (1927).The film that helped launch the 'American New Wave' "Bonnie And Clyde"(1967) and one of the key movies of the 1970's, "All The Presidents Men"(1976). Instead, we get mostly repackaged available 4ks, some of which are maybe good movies, but doubtful classics. Also for me, the emphasis of this collection should have been pre the 1980's. If this had been the case, I'd have probably took the plunge, but as it is, I'll spend my money elsewhere.
I understand them including mostly all classics in a celebration box set such as this. I mean, they won't put in some random movies that didn't make a dime or nobody cares about. It's a pretty inexpensive way for a new collector to grab a ton of great stuff. As far as the unreleased stuff ... pretty sure all will make their way as single releases.
The mega box is sub-divided into three sections, which are each receiving separate releases. That might sound great if a person is only interested in one or two of the time periods covered, but it's not; the full set has ten films in each section, but the individual releases have only five (although they do have blu-ray alongside 4K, which the mega box doesn't). It's certainly not for me. I'll pick up the movies that interest me and leave it like that.
There is a smaller boxset which has Enter The Dragon , Goodfellas, Shawshank, Goonies and Training Day for £50 but no Exorcist. I think they didn't include the Exorcist on the smaller boxset on purpose so pple buy the larger one.
Could not agree more with you; personally I find these box sets to be a ridiculous way for the studios to sell us movies we don't want because in every set there'll be a couple we do. I refuse to buy them. Individually; absolutely, but a set including many films I already own, to get a small handful of films I want; no thanks!
I can't wait for Enter the dragon. I feel like there are too many popular WB films that they could have included such as Twister, Natural born killers, Three Kings, demolition man, body guard, lethal weapon and many more. You need popcorn films too to make a boxset attractive
I’m not buying this because it’s missing the Blu-Ray discs, which means it’s missing most of the special features. I don’t have most of these movies on 4K so I wouldn’t mind getting it, but I’d be paying a premium price for less content. I’m better off just getting the standalone releases, it’s a better value.
My initial reaction was - "Well I have most of these already, and most of what I don't have I'm not interested in". All of them are acclaimed movies, even if not everything is to my taste, but a lot of them already have 4K releases or are getting individual 4K's so you can pick up what you actually want at your own speed. I find it very unlikely that someone is a big enough fan of a majority of these movies, and have the money to spend, and at the same time haven't already bought at least some, if not most of what they find the most interesting, to be very slim. A full breakdown would be: 2001 - A Space Odyssey: Already have on 4K Casablanca: Already have on 4K Citizen Kane: Have on DVD, tried watching it twice, didn't like it, not interested in upgrading (also already available in 4K) Cool Hand Luke: Have a DVD, a little bit interested in Upgrading, but I can pick up the Steelbok or regular release East of Eden: Never seen this one, but I have the regular Blu-Ray, which will probably do fine for me Maltese Falcon: Have the regular Blu-Ray, good enough for me, and if I change my mind there is an individual release Rebel without a Cause: Possibly the biggest excite for me in this box, but I could just as well (or rather) pick up the steelbook Rio Bravo: Never seen - My dad has a DVD, so could be worth an upgrade, but westerns are a bit hit and miss for me, so I'd like to see it first Singin in the Rain: Already have on 4K The Wizard of Oz: Already have on 4K A Clockwork Orange: Already have on 4K Batman: Already have on 4K Beetlejuice: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading as I didn't like the movie enough Blade Runner: Don't have the 4K jet, as I think I'm fine with my Blu-Ray box, but can just as well pick up any other 4K of this Enter the Dragon: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading Exorcist: Have on Blu-Ray, good enough for me The Goonies: Have on 4K already Superman: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading The Shining: Have on 4K already Willy Wonka: Have on 4K already A Star is Born: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading Argo: Only movie in this box I (or my dad) don't own in any way at all, but I've seen it, not particularly interested in owning it, and could settle for a Blu-Ray if I change my mind. Elvis: Have on 4K already Goodfellas: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading It: Have on Blu-Ray, good enough for me Mad Max Fury Road: Have on 4K already The Matrix: Have on 4K already Shawshank Redemption: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading Training Day: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading Unforgiven: Have on 4K already
I agree. These massive collections are seldom worth it IMO. The only one I have is the second volume of the Sony/Columbia 4K sets, and that is only 6 films. You sacrifice packaging, and usually extras when you have these massive box sets. Pass.
I gave up my expectations when it comes to major studios putting out catalogue titles. Their releases just don't get the right treatment that they would from Criterion, Shout! Factory, or any other boutique label. I also feel scammed by the steel book trend. What's the point if there isn't gonna be any extras? *Cough* "BETTER OFF DEAD"
Did you see the announcement for the individual volumes on Blu-ray? I think I own 90 out of the 100 movies on Blu-ray already. They really dropped the ball on their 100th anniversary
The others you mentioned will all hit 4k later this year, the problem is Warner Bros have released many of these titles already the fact they will also have 3 separate 5 title sets, the fact it is releasing in September it’s likely to time The exorcist 4k standalone around the same time they may also reconsider Rio Bravo and East of Eden. Star Wars was the same packaging and so was Hitchcock and Universal monsters in the US. I agree it’s not for collectors I have 22 but I have ordered the four WB 4ks from this set as yet unreleased but announced. I’m not really surprised at this it’s mainly aimed at mainstream buyers, who will likely not have many WB 4K. My other thoughts some films aren’t original WB but are MGM films bought by WB The wizard of OZ and Singin in the rain come to mind. I think Amadeus and JFK are important omissions
Warners have seen what others are doing. Paramount release Star Trek Boxset 1-4, then a year later, it's 1-6 with a separate release of 1st film with the TV cut exclusive to it. Rocky is coming well, most of it. I ain't buying because Sly is messing with the missing pair it's going to happen as night follows day. The Sony Collection was originally around $300 for 99% of new titles, but far fewer of them. It may just be a UK exclusive so available for import for Rio Bravo etc and The Exorcist will get a separate release without question. We have to tell Warners to do one and not order it but bombard them with emails and rweets to retink their strategy. The Columbia Classics Collection for me is still the way to go. Exclusive extras and a fantastic book. Not cheap but care and attention will win out. It doesn't cost a lot to put it in a fancy box, but do what Sony has done if no Dolby Vision add it and reissue as a Steelbook. The so called Big Boys need to partner with Indie Labels on both sides of the Atlantic if there not interested in doing it properly. We have Second Sight, Arrow and other's they have Vinegar Syndrome, Scream/Shout and Criterion with other labels starting to offer more. Anyway rant over got From Beyond, The Amityville Horror, Sidekicks and TCM2 to watch.
This is all around a strange, unnecessary release. I can see this being sold at a reduced price within the year as folk avoid it like the plague. They really should have taken the chance to release all new 4K films, then it would’ve gone like hotcakes, I’d imagine. Combined with the lack of on-disc extras (that collectors often enjoy) this is such a big no-no. Who has £300 kicking about, burning a hole on their pocket at the moment? This lacks proper market research or knowledge of potential buyers to even have conceived of it. Very, very poor.
I bought all 3 Columbia Classics sets so far, because those movies were all new to 4K and I did not own any of them in my collection at all (like on Blu Ray or whatnot). In contrast, I own many of the films in this set on 4K in my collection already, so it makes absolutely no sense for me to buy it. I thought that ALL the 7 new 4K films had confirmed standalone releases coming but I guess maybe I was mistaken? I really hope they DO get standalones
We thought WB was going to be a saviour for the anniversary, but they screwed up, remember when we thought they were gonna make up for the Disney 100? I think this was done for a financial thing to make people buy it. I think if it sells bad, they will make seperates
Such a cash grab by Warner. I am not a 4K collector, just huge blu-ray collector. I really only want Rio Bravo just for an updated scan, blu-ray would be fine but NO WAY would I even consider this set.
Very frustrating. Taxi Driver and The Exorcist are two of my most desired 4K releases, and it looks like I'll have to wait years to get them because I don't want to spend extra money for all the other crap in the box sets.
My biggest issue came in some of the selections. I love the idea behind what they are doing but in the individual New Hollywood box set, the selection is god awful. If they had called it something else it would be fine but advertising it as the New Hollywood and filling it with 80s fun movies... it just ain't it
How about some Special Features on The Big Sleep, there has never been any from VHS to now. Its a classic, I'm not interested in 4K but I could be if they were competent curators.
The fact that this is only for UK is dumb, not to mention that price point yikes 😬 I see they are also doing a Blu Ray version of this, but 25 movies for nearly 200 dollars per volume? Jesus Christ that's pricey.
I own all three of the Columbia Classics sets, but this one is just stupid. Thankfully I'm in the U.S. & we probably won't see this particular set unless Criterion returns Citizen Kane to WB after less than two years. At least Sony's groups of six new-to-4K titles each are more justifiable than this mess where only three titles at most will be new to 4K when it's released. All three CC sets have contained one or two new-to-4K Best Picture winners (my top collecting priority); this one has NONE (Casablanca, Unforgiven, Argo, and even Elvis if it somehow wins next month are all already on 4K). 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Guaranteed this is only step one in the plan to further exploit The Exorcist. No doubt we will see all sorts of releases of the title in the future. Just need some patience - no way I would ever buy a 30 title box set.
this will be a failure for WB and for serious collectors of physical media. the average person will not pay this amount of money for a collection of random films....it's not how it works. these people haven't a clue.
This boxset is a bit disappointing since it has many films already 4k films. I myself Have 10 films Which makes this a hard buy. This set is coming out a day after my birthday so maybe I'll get it as a gift but I really don't see any other reason to spend a ton of money and get some movies that I won't really watch particularly the exorcist since I'm not really into horror
I seen this go up on amazon recently and I've already got 7 of the 30 so didn't think too much of it. I did just check and they've also listed three separate box sets with 5 of the 30 4ks for £50 each but I don't think they include the new as of yet unreleased 4k's so not great value if you're not new to 4k collecting, might be a good purchase for new 4k adopters.
I've been looking at this boxset, and it seems like there's no special features on these. Only the movie on 4K and commentary tracks. Kind of a let down, in my opinion!!!
Or since they have had years to plan this, they could and should have come up with all new 4k films, maybe not even 30 films, but like a 20 film set all first time 4ks
Thanks for watching! If you want to see more about the 4K boxset, here is the pre-order listing - amzn.to/3YFflaS

I will hold out for individual 4K releases to plug the gaps but, at present, I am not looking to spend £300 for another box with poor disc storage.

just bought the box set using your link so enjoy the extra quids mate! it's a bit igh but this set unlike the columbia's set is actually a good amount of greats films! i have about 4 or 5 of the movies in this set in 4k but i'll sell those to my friend who's also just getting into collecting 4k discs so win win. looking forward to this set and happy warner bros are doing stuff like this unlinke disney
This is a joke. The only 2 films I want are the Exorcist and Enter the dragon on 4K🤬🤬🤬
WTF WB
What a shame so many bad decisions went into what could have been an awesome box set
There are so many Golden Age Warner Bros. classics missing, IT IS RIDICULOUS! Just an example of many: how about a 4K Blu ray of two Errol Flynn/Raoul Walsh classics, "They Died With Their Boots On" and "Gentleman Jim."
Being a massive Errol Flynn fan I agree %100, Gentleman Jim's my favorite by him.
In France where I live they do even more shit like this, like the Hitchcock volume 2 on 4k doesn’t exist here, we got the same as the volume 1 then one year later or smthing they released a more expensive 4k collection w/ the first 4 movies and all the ones added in volume 2 but without having a separate release for the people that bought the first volume so we have to spend 100 bucks to get these films and are punished for buying the first boxset
These releases rly just discourage people from buying physical media
No Dirty Harry 4K? C'mon WB!
I’d love all the Dirty Harry films to come to 4K!
@@ElliotCoen Likewise, actually!
I feel lucky!
Totally agree with this. WBs truly disrespecting the exact people that this set should be aimed at. Honestly fail to see the strategy here, unless it’s completely cynical in making folks pay through the nose for a handful of set-exclusive films.
The Amazon listing for these sets in the US show they aren't even offered in 4k, only standard blu ray.
This set is just a cash grab.
Apparently they also announced a "100th 25 Film Collection Volume Four: Thrillers, Sci-Fi, and Horror" which includes movies that are also in this set. Very bizarre move.
That's a decade old blu-ray collection, not 4K UHD.
This guy has an asmr voice.
They should release a new box set every month adding one additional exclusive title. Then we could all buy the same discs every month. Sheesh.
Little bit of stole valour in this set with Citizen Kane and Shawshank not being Warner Bros productions and just ones the swooped up the home video rights in recent years. Kind of undermines the idea of it being a celebration of Warner Bros.
That is a very good point too!
Same with Wizard of Oz.
Exorcist will definitely get a 4k release. Especially w that new movie coming out.
Eagerly awaiting The Maltese Falcon stand-alone. I'm betting that we'll see a stand-alone release of The Exorcist.
You absolutely right, Still waiting for them to release a “RKO” box set
Yes it's a con - I agree with what you said should be new films to 4k not re-issues - Why not films such as Adventures of Robin Hood ; The Last Samurai ; Sergeant York; Dial M for Murder; The Searchers; Cheyenne Autumn; The Outlaw Josey Wales ; the Life of Brian and lots lots more
They just figured out how to make the “multipacks” expensive where they used to be cheap.
That's sad. Greed? Thanks for the update Elliot.
I don't have hardly any of these films, if it drops to around $250.00, then I will pick it up.
Yeah, they put out EAST OF EDEN but not DELIVERANCE? Who's in charge over there?
I own most of them already in 4K. Most film buffs own these films, already. It's such a disappointment. Only 3 are getting separate releases....
Im buying it, I have 15 of those movies but I have to to support this.
Why is onlyl Part 1 of IT in there but not Part 2? That would be like putting The Two Towers in the set but not the other two LotR films.
I won’t be getting this. We will get those others in 4K. No doubt.
A full breakdown would be:
2001 - A Space Odyssey: Already have on 4K
Casablanca: Already have on 4K
Citizen Kane: Have on DVD, tried watching it twice, didn't like it, not interested in upgrading (also already available in 4K)
Cool Hand Luke: Have a DVD, a little bit interested in Upgrading, but I can pick up the Steelbok or regular release
East of Eden: Never seen this one, but I have the regular Blu-Ray, which will probably do fine for me
Maltese Falcon: Have the regular Blu-Ray, good enough for me, and if I change my mind there is an individual release
Rebel without a Cause: Possibly the biggest excite for me in this box, but I could just as well (or rather) pick up the steelbook
Rio Bravo: Never seen - My dad has a DVD, so could be worth an upgrade, but westerns are a bit hit and miss for me, so I'd like to see it first
Singin in the Rain: Already have on 4K
The Wizard of Oz: Already have on 4K
A Clockwork Orange: Already have on 4K
Batman: Already have on 4K
Beetlejuice: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading as I didn't like the movie enough
Blade Runner: Don't have the 4K jet, as I think I'm fine with my Blu-Ray box, but can just as well pick up any other 4K of this
Enter the Dragon: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading
Exorcist: Have on Blu-Ray, good enough for me
The Goonies: Have on 4K already
Superman: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading
The Shining: Have on 4K already
Willy Wonka: Have on 4K already
A Star is Born: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading
Argo: Only movie in this box I (or my dad) don't own in any way at all, but I've seen it, not particularly interested in owning it, and could settle for a Blu-Ray if I change my mind.
Elvis: Have on 4K already
Goodfellas: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading
It: Have on Blu-Ray, good enough for me
Mad Max Fury Road: Have on 4K already
The Matrix: Have on 4K already
Shawshank Redemption: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading
Training Day: Have on Blu-Ray, not interested in upgrading
Unforgiven: Have on 4K already
I agree. These massive collections are seldom worth it IMO. The only one I have is the second volume of the Sony/Columbia 4K sets, and that is only 6 films. You sacrifice packaging, and usually extras when you have these massive box sets. Pass.
Spot on, every word. Such a missed opportunity.
Well if you remember that Superman blu ray set they did. They also released the movies separately.
Movies like the departed, Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut should've been included in this.
If only Warner Bros can sell the archives of The Devils to the BFI for film distribution.
I’m still waiting on an it’s always fair weather 4K remaster, it’s such a classic gene Kelley film but hasn’t had a re release in a long time
My biggest issue came in some of the selections.
This year is the 50th Anniversary of The Exorcist so it’s most likely getting a standalone release.
The fact that this is only for UK is dumb, not to mention that price point yikes 😬
I see they are also doing a Blu Ray version of this, but 25 movies for nearly 200 dollars per volume?
Very interesting, I agree with you it’s very hard to justify this purchase. Thank you, as ever a very well presented video
Guaranteed this is only step one in the plan to further exploit The Exorcist. No doubt we will see all sorts of releases of the title in the future. Just need some patience - no way I would ever buy a 30 title box set.
This likes it would be a good starter set to get for someone just getting a 4k TV and player
I have most of these in 4K, but I will not buy this set just in order to get the few extra I want.
this will be a failure for WB and for serious collectors of physical media.
the average person will not pay this amount of money for a collection of random films....it's not how it works.
these people haven't a clue.
Anyone seen my knickers??
I think Warner is treating collectors badly ....this looks like a cash grab..
I agree and I'm in the same boat as you - I already have a lot of the movies. Some of the movies I don't care to upgrade anyhow at this time.
Totally agree, such a shame!!
You can bet your house on The Exorcist getting it sown release...at £50 each ofc..
We NEED Barry Lyndon in 4K!!
Amen!
