To J H: I seen you posted a question but when I go to respond it's gone...I don't know if youtube has removed it or its just pending....but below are the answers to your questions: 1- I wouldn't use egg crate as a lid...the holes will either allow the eel to escape or possible get stuck in it...like you mentioned if you do use it you will need to weigh it down...also keep the water level down some..don't fill the tank to the top as that will make it easier for the eel to push the top off...I have a couple videos on securing tops of aquariums for moray eels..it works on these freshwater eels or saltwater...using glass canopy tops..you can secure the back where the eels might escape from..and the front lids..check them out! 2- I feed them sliced and chopped raw shrimp you buy at the store....in the frozen food section for people...the love it....I have heard some people feeding tilapia but mine wouldn't eat anything but shrimp...probably because the previous owner got them hooked on it..but they love it so I do that.... 3- your water sounds fine..they adapt to different kinds of water, I would just acclimate him slowly in a bucket but other than that I think you are fine thanks for the question....if your original post shows up in this thread I will respond and paste this into it..but I am hoping you see it...thanks to everyone that asks questions..I enjoy them!
