Steve is going to get spoiled. Customers telling his the diagnosis and supplying parts. Next level momma!
RUclips baby. RUclips can make you good at anything!
@@jamesa6272 If the customer watched Steve's videos like I think he said he did. He failed miserably! Imagine, you have the opportunity to shout out "PUT A LITTLE FRITZ ON IT MOMMA!" To the man, and you just pass that up? No, HELL NO!! lol
I think the customer understands how technicians in the service industry mark up their parts and was being respectful in giving Steve the option to get one himself or use the one he bought. Customer was modest and smarter than most people are giving him credit for. And it sounded like he watches Steve's videos.
The reason for markup is to cover labor in case the part fails in under a year.
Will call saves wait time parts waiting on you next day after hours online orders yes he seemed pretty up on situation tutorial by Steve...
The guy didn't want to say he had a gas valve to begin with or Steve wouldn't of went. Parts $ is nessacary for is service guys 😏
I agree,
Customer definitely seemed like a good guy.
Was willing to wait and pay for a second gas valve cause he didn't want to push you to use the one he bought. You are also top notch to use his parts. Love the videos
I imagine when you have to listen to owners all day, when you get one talking sense you don’t always hear him the first time✌️
Steve at first didn't think he had correct valve he was in temporary disbelief good job Miss Molly looking as cute as a button nice little sweater for cold weather...
Steve, I've been watching for a about 2 years now and this has to be my favorite video. You were in the flow of love for neighbor. Sure it is not kosher for customers to provide their own parts and sure it eats at some profit for you. But in that moment you demonstrated that the higher law was to help that family out. Customer was hesitant to mention the part and he was trying to explain that he understood this was not kosher, yet that dint matter you helped him out. Again really loved this video or one person helping another. Keep it up man!
come rain or shine, Steve is always working again!
Great job of testing to confirm bad valve. You could tell very humbling for homeowner to realize this job is for the pro. Nice job Steve of helping family and getting their life back to "normal". You calmed a stressful situation as always. This is why I enjoy watching your vids!
Usually, when you are having trouble getting flow through your gas valve, some Taco Bell will fix that right up :)
😂😂
LOL!
Customer supplied gas valve?
Sounds like a future lawsuit.
" I know when it works it clicks and the igniter would ignite the flames "
A homeowner with great knowledge of how the system works .
You do a great job. Installing the customers part is going above and beyond May God Bless you and your family.
Wow that customer was a legend! Was even gunna pay for another valve!
That customer was next level! Correct diagnosis and parts, how many times does that happen?
Customer pulls gas valve out of his ass, hysterical.
That is a good customer.
It ain't easy being Stevie !
I like this guy
Job went your way, guy had the valve needed and no driving around or waiting for the part.
Steve found a genuine SuperTech
That valve wasn't so smart after all. 😆👌
Probably china junk!
Steve should stencil “Let’s be warm friends” on the back of the service truck!
Hi Steven . Do you run into this situations where costumers buy the parts for you?. Do you stil warranty the works ?.
I understand you where there and you had to get something out of the deal. maybe a new costumer to add to list for future calls .Maybe a new unit. Anyway I watched almost all your videos and I appreciate the way you help your client with sincerity and honesty . That will go a long way as a businessman .😊👍.
Outstanding Job Steven as usual. Keep the video's coming!!!!!!!!!
Gas valve is tree fiddy plus layba. Oh I got a gas valve but I know a pluma that's cheapa
"If you ever saw it, you would even say it glows (like a lightbulb)" first name Simpson, last Name Bart. You got a gas valve? The same one? I'll keep the meter spinning and the beavers grinning!
Another Great Job Lav,,.
Steve , your a angel, you just made there Thanksgiving warm
Looks like Steve found a new potential helper!
Beautiful.
With smart valves it's always best to also change the ignitor to avoid a repeat call weeks later , Smart valves are problem valves .
I get trying to save a dollar or replacing a part, why didnt he just say he had a valve and didnt have a clue, or was incompetent to replace.
Hell yeah no need to waste time driving around.😉😉😉
Check your manifold pressure too!😊
The smart valve decided to get stuck on stupid. Nice that the customer had one.
That was sweet, simple, and easy. How long was the guy without heat. Nice he had the part for you.
Nice new video up thanks Steve
Guys like this make the field a jungle sometimes 😄
19:18 First time I've seen a nice clear output from the Testo printer!
A couple of videos back steve said he changed the batteries in 🖨
Fold a matchbook cover once and use it to put pressure on the smart valve plug, it will light, it's a bad valve. Change it and get the hell out of there
Never seen one like that, so the gas valve ignites a pilot that ignites the gas burners. Just trying to digest the logic in that. That furnace must be real old. 300 bucks for a gas valve, dam. Was surprised when the homeowner like I got the valve for this. Usually if they are smart enough to get that type of valve, they are smart enough to put it on. This ain’t rocket science. Good day for the customer and Steve. I never get that lucky like that.
Great job and video like always
Hi Miss Molly!
At least the customer knew what was wrong
Steve i can't see out your windshield, hire a cleaning lady to clean it up.
Or maybe fog it up then clean.
the owner sounds like eminem hahhahaha the rapper
I never heard of that brand heater. It must be one of those new improvement heaters. You can rely on it. 50 year warranty
Airease is made buy Lennox. Same as Armstrong, Ducane, Aire Flow ETC
@@Jon-hx7pe lennox Merit series is also made in Mexico.
your new helpa
Question When troubleshooting the old gas valve would you check for an ohm reading such as a contactor on an ac unit it see if it's up to par and second if that customer was so smart how come he didn't replace it and does he expect you to warrant the valve he supplied each individual runs his business as to there ways but I don't put in parts supplied by the customer also what makes me ask if you put in a part they supply are you liable in case of a problem or any damages cause they the customer wants to drag you into court for any mishaps
Guy got lucky not having to wait. Not crazy cold yet anyway. Couple of portable electric heaters would of held them over.
I don’t understand why didn’t the hsi glow originally?
That’s what I’m wondering? Because the igniter should glow before the gas valve opens up. I mean...that’s what I thought? If I’m wrong could someone let me know? But from my experience the igniter should glow even if the gas valve was bad. Unless this model works differently ?
On this valve power for the igniter comes from the valve not the board itself.
Safety control circuit
@@michaelmcneffii1912 On this model the HSI lights the pilot, not the burners. So if no gas is going through the pilot tube because the valve solenoid went kaput then the sequence of operations stops.
Gave er the ole 1,2, how ya doing mama!
What the hell is with this guy . Has you calling around to find a valve and he had one . Weird
Some HVAC techs won't even install equipment that was bought by the owner (potential insurance risk). This homeowner thought Steve was one of them. Even at 8:25 The homeowner was about to say that. So that is why the homeowner didnt mention it before he called around.
I dont install customer supplied gas valves for liability reasons. But if it was 0 degrees out and it was a day to get one, i would of installed his and have him sign a sheet saying i installed his own valve and hes taking liability for it should something happen. People dont understand why we mark up parts. We do it for this reason, and for warranty issues.
You guys talking about liability are too funny.
Liability issues my ass..that’s just another way for technicians to collect a buck.
@@borys444 and what do you do for a living? Surely it is not a trade as you would understand what us costs to run even a 1 man show. Next time when your heating system or hot water heater goes out, goodluck.
See a really good video on RUclips mate keep up the good work on RUclips mate hove a good day mate u do a really good job on RUclips mate am a big fan of u do a really good job on here mate
Miss Molly’s happy
Steve’s a smart man. Comes across a dumb valve and customer has one. Roll with it. Easy money. T and M
Ya momma
That's an Armstrong furnace
I hate those smart valves
wiggle the wires and the furnace will fire up
My tech called these "dumb valves"
Famous last words should work
I think the guy held back wanting to find out what Steve would charge him for the part. Steve, did you ask him how much he paid for the part?
Why you need the same gas valve for an old unit, $350 for a gas valve?
its a smart valve
Honeywell dumb valve system
New system 3,500? what’s he your son? That sounds like parts only at cost without labor included. And that’s if you get a deal haha
Are Rheem furnaces any good?
Garbage
So a "smart" gas valve makes diagnosis harder? Got it.
yep, my college teachers called them "stupid valves". they are a pain in the ass.
None of the old' "lil dope.......lil dope.........lil dope, lube it up momma..............?"
👍👍😊
why was that so awkward for the guy to say he has a gas valve?
You charge $350 for a smart valve ?
Thats what i pay for it 350-400
You should charge more if the customer watches or mark up labor for the education.
Yea ha
1997 fur
Is he trying to be his own shade tree mechanic on his furnace? People need to leave some things up to the professionals!! It's funny how people turn to Dr. Google for answers and they tell you what Dr. Google said.
I get customers asking for part numbers and such, I say I don't give them out period.
@@zack9912000 probably trying to buy the part themselves and get done cheaper. Like my car, it's easier to get an oil change by a oil change place, than to do it myself or my accelerator pedal assembly was bad, I paid a professional garage to put one in, then to do it myself. I don't do my own car work anymore. I wouldn't touch a furnace.
Buying the valve online and giving it to Steve to change it out, may have saved him a few hundred dollars in parts, and their nothing legally wrong with it ether, since this homeowner knew his limits after that, obviously you comment section keyboard police have never been in such predicament before with money and an major appliance that decides to break at the wrong time, like some of us had.
@@KenKen-ui4ny whether it's HVAC mechanics or Automobile repair shops, they buy parts at certain prices and add a certain percentage to the price to the part. Steve doesn't charge a customer for a part for price he paid. He's got to make a profit. Just like hourly labor charge. It might no take an hour to repair or replace, but he still needs to charge for the whole hour. I would be offended, if someone bought their own parts. Because, if they want a professional or do they want to do it themselves? Plus, did they get the right parts or some Chinese knockoffs.
Nickle and dime ya to death. Take that $600 snd put to a new unit , heat exchange is cracked also ,soon
$3500 for a new gas furnace not bad...... You know its gonna get done right....
#955 thumbs uP
Here we go again we got another super tech and he has his own parts Lol. I always charge the customer a little more when they have their own parts because they think their saving money by providing the parts not in this neighborhood. Peace brother and Molly
So you’re gonna make em pay one way or the other, eh?
Yep being greedy over the customer having the parts, sorry! your just giving other HVAC techs a bad rap doing that.
