That Crosby on Climax No. 9 has got to be one of the most mesmerizing whistles I've ever heard. Sounds like Tweetsie No. 190 before her whistle was retuned. You outdid yourself with this one man!
That Longbell 3 Chime on 1309 sounds almost like 1522’s whistle right after it was restored in the 1980s. Also those echoing whistle shots far off in the distance are just ethereal.
4:58 by far one of the most iconic voices of of Southern Railway number 4501 is indeed this whistle right here the way it looks with that modified whistle valve rod and the way it sounds is just amazing
@@RailfanDude610I agree. 4501 needs her original voice back. I would prefer if she got her original valve design back, along with the 45 degree cab-facing mounting position.
An amazing video. My favorite whistles where the Shop build N&W Hooter on GMSR 1702, Crosby 3 Chime on Tweetsie 190 and the Reading 6 Chime on CSSR 2 and all the other CSSR whistles as well
5:47 190 sound so much better with her Crosby repaired. Its amazing she's had that for over 50 years.
You do beautiful audio and video capture. 👏

I completely agree with you! I’m still hoping that TVRM will place it back on 4501 this year!

I love the Tennessee Valley Railroad 630 and 4501 along with Great Smoky Mountain Railroad 1702
The FEC / US Sugar #148 whistle on Manifold #1 needs another shot at Ravenna 2024.
1:20:11 My Favorite Steam Locomotives Voice!
The Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Yellowstone!

The six chime on GSMR 1702 is beautiful!
The Powell 3-Chime is probably my favourite whistle of all time.
1:04 the echo of the southern longbell was incredible!! Was this particular 3 chime actually from a Southern Ts Mountain?
Yes
@22:02 They take quilling a whistle to another level down there at Cass, like playing a musical instrument.
26:19 this whistle is like Nevada nothern 40!
Same type.
26:23 reminds me of CTS 489 in the 1986-87 operating season
The glory of the amirica steam trains whistle sounds pretty cool
1:07:57
29:13 isn’t that the same whistle shay 3 wore back in the 80s and 90s??
Have you been to the Great Lakes and see the ships up there? I know it's somewhat off topic but they do connect together.
I have not been to the great lakes in general yet. Although I'm sure those ships are pretty cool.
@@stevensainerailfanproductions They are fascinating to watch.
6:04 ideas why that happen ?
Quilling effect
401 is my faveroite
190 whistle sonido ferrocarril
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
what would be awesome is to see 1309 actually pull a long revenue freight train like she would when she was first built
44:09 463 having that whistle doesn’t sound right
So, on that Ravenna manifold number 1, what whistle is number 8?? Sound like if on high pressure steam, it could sound like big boy 4011
N&W J Class Hancock.
@@C.J.Holden interesting. Very interesting
That’s stronger than a big boy but it’s slower
